“My stay November 30-Dec8, 2013”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

Very professional staff - reception, concierge, bell boys, room service, maids. Location very good. The breakfast good, much improved from 3 years ago, but only problem actually main problem of this hotel is they have very few non-smoking rooms. Being a Platinum member I was entitled to an upgrade but ALL their upgraded rooms are SMOKING and for someone who is very allergic this is a problem so was pleased with the deluxe room - after changing room 3 times - my room had a bad smell, not of smoking maybe it was the vent, had to ask them to vaccum at least twice a day and by the 6th day the smell was almost gone. Another big problem during my stay is they allow people to SMOKE IN THE CORRIDORS even if the floor is non-smoking and WORST OF ALL THEY SMOKE IN THE ELEVATOR and nothing happens. 90 percent of the time I took the elevator, had to wear a mask because it was terrible. In fact, I had to stop 3 Chinese guests from coming in the elevator smoking cigarettes - no monitoring on this. Spoke to hotel several times ... my only disappointment so not sure if I can recommend it to non-smoking guests.

Stayed for 2 nights midweek as a break from Hong Kong. Initial difficulty getting to hotel from ferry terminal as the mini bus did not come to the stand but remained parked in the middle of the terminal before leaving so had to wait a further 30 mins until the next one came in. This did the exact same but an attendant to me to flag it down as it passed on the main road. Bit strange!!
I was early for check in, but staff provided me with vouchers for bar and access to business centre. Upgraded to executive floor, nice spacious room, ample storage. Location close to Grand Lisboa Casino, MGM and Wynn and tourist sites. 10 mins in taxi to Cotai area for Venetian, HRC etc. Didn't use restaurant or breakfast facilities.
All staff were very helpful and attentive.
Only negative was hotel bar closing at midnight.
No issue with staying here again, but would possibly stop at HI in Cotai and come over to the 'old town' during the day.

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Macau. We had tickets to see The House of Dancing Water at City of Dreams and we had stayed at the Holiday Inn once before. This is a lovely hotel and our room was fantastic. Breakfast was included but the comfy bed and pillows were the best. It also has a great pool and the shuttle bus from the ferry makes everything so easy.

Macau is really two places. If your main interest is the hyper-Vegas, stay in Cotai. But if you're there for the charm and history, the HI is a good choice, near senate square and the rest of the historic district. You have to join their stupid club to get free wifi, but that just takes a few minutes. Overall good value. And you can still get to and from Cotai for free by hopping on other hotels' shuttles :-)

Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend in a "re-furbished" room with two queen sized beds. You pay a bit more money to stay in one of these "re-furbished" rooms but you will notice that not everything has been changed within. (Re: bathtub, vanity counter) bits here and there, somewhat nitpicking! but I can't help but notice these things. The devil is in the details. Made worse when I'm making comparisons against a similar room for the same price in the cotai strip (Sheraton).

The free internet usage as an IHG member also left me a bit disappointed. The use of this expired just after one day? Not sure if I had to ring the front of desk to request another card.... But it seems quite tedious for something as simple as internet use. Didn't bother in the end. There is a good number of mainland Chinese patronizing this hotel.... And yes, they steal a smoke wherever they can even though it's prohibited. So the smell of smoke does permeate the public areas. Maybe better enforcement from staff might help somewhat.

Property is a refreshed Holiday Inn. Clean and tidy. There are casino in the hotel but it does not interfere with hotel operations. Breakfast is great with a good coffee and tea offer. I stayed on the executive floor so room was spacious. Only dislike it was a smoking floor.

As a frequent goer to Macau, checking in process for certain new and hugh Taipai hotels might be as horror as haunted house. However, front desk staffs of the Holiday Inn are smart and professional. I am staying under a package with lots of items to handle: say breakfast options, ferry tickets. ...etc. However, this smart guy handle all these properly within five minutes including answering all my queries and even done a little chit chat with me. A smooth check in really gave me very good impression
Further more the Buffet breakfast included is so good.
