“Bad services”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014

The location awesome, at the center of macau. Great room, lovely design interior. The only bad thing and thats really important is the service. Really2 bad. The receptionist staff named Ivan or something really2 had bad attitude! He talk rude to us, like he's angry or something, cruel, less smile, and not helpful at all. The management really need to teach them all a good manners and take this seriously! The breakfast also bad, dont have many options & the waitress can not speak english. How come?! We surely wont going back to this hotel again.

Metropole is owned by the CTS chain which has other properties such as Emperor, Riviera, etc in Macau. So I expected a similar standard of management. However at check-in I was shocked to discover that not only does Metrople not have allocated non-smoking floors, but they mix smokers and non-smokers on any floor randomly. When I asked for a non-smoking floor, the staff did not even know which floor that should be. So of course, during the 2 night we stayed, people just smoked liberally in this hotel which made the stay unbearable.

Also during the free breakfast there was a staff member who was EXTREMELY RUDE. This free breakfast worked unlike any other hotel - you need to point out what on the menu that you wanted, and they cook it for you. But this staff member didn't even look at us, threw the menu down at the table, didn't explain that we had to order before getting the food. And then rolled her eyes when I asked a different waitress how breakfast worked.

I cannot recommend anyone staying here. Macau is trying to stamp out smoking in casinos, let alone hotels. Metropole is the only hotel that will put non-smokers in the middle of smokers who are allowed to smoke as much as they want all night long. And I have stayed in 10+ hotels in Macau. None like this.

Hotel location was excellent, just walking distance to major attractions. Also its very easy to travel to Cotai Strip where you can take free shuttle to City of Dreams from adjacent hotel. Rooms were newly renovated and with basic amenities. However there are no non-smoking rooms thus you may need to bring air fresheners if you cannot bear the cigarette smell. Maintenance can be done better as can see a bit moldy at the air conditioner, though not so obvious. Hotel staffs were good and polite. Breakfast was quite basic with limited options.

Overall a value for money stay in Macau.

The twin room was big enough for family with two under 11 y.o children. Each of the beds wide enough for one adult and one child. Room felt newly renovated, and with its spotless bathroom, I couldn't ask for more.
Location was also perfect. Close to main Macau's spots and also close to citybus stops.
Hotel's shuttle bus from/to ferry terminal was punctual at every half an hour. Its a dark red microbus.

I was here during last summer when I wan travelling with 3 friends.
We booked here because it is located quite near to some resorts like the Ruin's of St. Paul.
It is easily found when we first got there. Just turn to the right at the end of the Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro.
The room was clear, simple and comfortable. Two beds were quite near to each other.
The toilet was large enough but if it came to the whole room, it was a little bit smaller than what i had expected.
If you just stayed for a day or two, it was definitely a good place because of the reasonable prices.
But if you had a long trip here, I advised you to go for a hotel room with bigger rooms.

Location means everything! Very close ( 5 minute walk) to most tourist attractions (starting from Senato square) and casino Lisboa and at the same time it is very quite.
The bedroom is well equipped and after the long day of walking around it is good to rest.
I found the staff a bit indifferent but anyway their did their job and I have no issue.
The breakfast has a fair choice of food and tastes good.
It is a good hotel for fair price, recently refreshed, quite and with the convenient location.

I stayed in the Metropole in April 2014 and I loved it. Great location. It is just across the bus stop and a department store. It is also a short walk to Senado. Rooms are nice. Wifi is ok as well as the a/c. The service is friendly and theres a coffee shop downstairs where you can have your meals. I highly recommend this hotel.
