“A great find”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

This is an educational hotel which basically means the service is excellent because the staff are all keen to pass their course but at the same time the rates are low because the staff are in training. Free wi-fi, nice breakfast, lovely rooftop garden, excellent training restaurant on site and the staff fell over themselves to help. It's placed on a narrow and windy road so the taxi journey can be a bit hairy but given the expense of staying in the central Macau hotels (mini Las Vegas) it is well worth stopping here instead. My husband and I travelled with my mum and we all found it very comfortable.

We stayed 4 nights in this charming, quiet hotel. Staffed by students from the Tourism School, we experienced the best service we have had in any hotel, anywhere. If casinos, bars, and bright lights are your scene, then this is not the hotel for you. But if you appreciate careful attention and personal service, this is an excellent place to stay. The short walk up the hill can be a bit daunting at the end of a hot day, but taxis are cheap and the hotel has 3 free shuttle buses per day. The meals at the restaurant next door are superb (and very reasonably priced). If you are booking to stay at the hotel on a Friday night, it's worth booking ahead for the Friday night buffet in the restaurant. Don't wait until you arrive, it's booked out days in advance.

Room Tip: There are no lifts so if you have trouble with stairs, ask for a room on the ground floor.

We stayed just for a night but wish we had stayed longer. From the moment the cab pulled up in front of the property the staff was helpful and hospitable....wanting to assist us in any way they could. We were there for our wedding anniversary and the hotel even presented us with a small gift, wrapped and decorated personally by one of the staff, Carmen. Thank you. The property though a bit out of the way is excellent with spacious rooms. The antique fittings and furnishings lent an air of nostalgia but everything was well maintained. There is a garden close by to relax in and the shuttle service provided by the hotel is convenient. Breakfast was good and varied. Thanks to Julie , Carmen and Thomas for making our stay at Pousada unforgettable

Run by the Macau Tourism Institute, this hotel is the best Boutique Hotel in town for those who want to sightsee and relish the heritage areas of Macau.

It is serene on top of a hill. Value for money with great buffet breakfast.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Pousada de Mong-Ha. The staff/students were amazing and attentive to our needs. They were also very helpful and gave us tips on how to get around Macau. We ate at their educational restaurant which served authentic Macanese cuisine, and the food was so delicious that we went back two more times during our stay. The hotel is at the top of a hill which can be tiring to climb if you've spent all day walking around the city, but it was close enough to a lot of the heritage sites that we didn't need to take a bus to get back. I would definitely stay at Pousada de Mong-Ha again if I go back to Macau.

Room Tip: If you're able, upgrade to the deluxe room. It's definitely worth the extra money for a bigg...

The staff was truly amazing- brought luggage to our rooms, opened doors for us
Free breakfast was no cheap feat. eggs, ham, cereal, juice. Quality was very good.

The only inherent con would be the location. If you are looking to explorer the local area of Macau then this is a great place. If you are looking to visit the casino /gamble then I would suggest another place as it's not within walkable distance.

I stayed at a Casino hotel one night and the other night here (to visit the local area).

A+

I learned about Pousada de Mong-Ha from my cousin, who had previously stayed there. We traveled as a family and stayed for two nights. The hotel is located on top of a hill, but still walking distance from Sunny View Garden bus stop, which links the hotel to most of the scenic spots in Macau. (You may opt to take a circle on the bus, which will offer you a sort-of sightseeing tour already). Our check-in was processed fast, and we were quickly led to our rooms, which were furnished in the traditional Macanese style. Rooms smelled a bit old and musty though, but very spacious, with a balcony offering a great view of the hilly landscape. Each room had a PC computer inside (free access). The down side is, each room can only accommodate a maximum of three persons, and they don't have any larger rooms. If travelling with a large group, such as in our case, you must get several rooms. Breakfast had quite limited variety, but was very satisfying. Sad we didn't get to try the restaurant for dinner. We were also given free shuttle service to the Ferry Terminal. Staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. During our check-out we were even given a complimentary souvenir photo! Pousada offers great value for money for the budget traveller - indeed a good find!

Room Tip: Each room can accommodate a maximum of three (3) persons only. If travelling as a large group, you m...
