We visited this attraction because it was near our hotel. Its located on a steep incline so coming here is a good workout specially if you walk. I noticed a lot of local people use the surrounding park and walkways as jogging area. You can get a good view of downtown Macau from the top of the Fortress. There is also a small chapel on the grounds which is also an interesting place to visit.

Taking the Guia Cable Car from Flora Garden you get easy access to Guia Hill, the highest point of the Macau Peninsula (it is easy to walk down the hill later on!). At the top you will find the Guia Fortress with the lovely Chapel of Our Lady of Guia (Guidance), built in 1637. During restoration unique 17th century frescoes were discovered, unique in East Asia, with a combination of Christian and Chinese symbols. Note: during lunch hours the guard will close the chapel unannounced and you will be standing there before closed doors!
