“A Little Piece of Heaven”
Reviewed 7 March 2018 for a stay in February 2018

My husband and I stayed at Playa 55 for nine nights. Our adult children stayed in adjacent rooms for a week. We all agreed that this is an exceptional guest house located in this small Mexican fishing village. Nico and Jess are warm, attentive and generous hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay special. They trusted us enough to allow their son to go fishing with my family, and later cooked the fish for us. They shared their knowledge of the area, and told us about their future dreams for the guest house. We left Playa 55 feeling we had made two new good friends.

As for the property, it is breathtaking...the rooms are large and tastefully decorated with an artist's eye, the views from the balconies and rooftop are stunning, and the pool relaxing. Most days, we had the white sand beach all to ourselves. There are also kayaks available for use, free of charge.

We were among the first people to stay at Playa 55. The guest house will only get better and better as Jess and Nico continue to execute their master plan (for instance, they are hoping to secure a liquor licence so they can serve alcohol on the rooftop). We wish them all the best. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to a stay at Playa 55. It truely is a little piece of heaven.

Having had your family here and getting to know you all was such a pleasure. Your feedback and insights you so openly shared with us are much appreciated and will help us make future guests (you hopefully among them again) feel as comfortable as you did here this time. With having put so much work into this guesthouse, it was tremendously uplifting to see you relax and enjoy it like that. Thank you for coming here and your wonderful review!

“Treat Yourself to this Slice of Paradise!!”
Reviewed 5 March 2018 for a stay in February 2018

I’m so pleased to have the opportunity to write the first review for Playa 55 Boutique Guesthouse. I recently spent two wonderfully relaxing nights there. I was searching for a nearby beach getaway, after spending a couple of months in the bustling city of Merida, and I became captivated by the beautiful photos of the beach, the rooms and the property on Playa 55’s website. No fake news there-what you see in the photos is exactly what you get-a beautiful, clean beach, gorgeous Gulf of Mexico water, a stunning pool, inviting and comfortable rooms, spectacular sunsets from the rooftop deck and the warmest of welcomes from the owners, Jess and Nico. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in a very special place; Playa 55 is not a traditional hotel. Jess and Nico, using the beautiful natural landscape as their canvas, have designed and crafted a slice of paradise to share with their guests. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds, sitting areas and individually decorated with beautiful textiles and carefully chosen art pieces. Although not normally an early riser, I couldn’t wait until daylight to pull back the draperies and experience the breathtaking view of the Gulf from the floor to ceiling glass which extends the width of the rooms. Sitting on the balcony, in the comfortable chairs, watching the fishing boats going out in the morning and coming back in the afternoon was especially relaxing. It’s an easy walk “into town” for meals or tuk tuks (local taxis) are readily available; the small room refrigerator was also very useful! I went for one night to check it out; I stayed two nights and would have stayed longer if I hadn’t had an unchangeable appointment back in Merida. Check out this slice of paradise for yourself; I may see you there, because after years of exploring the Yucatan’s Gulf coast, I’ve found my “go to” place!!
