“Amazing view!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

A lovely way to take in the view without being outside in the wind. Huge panoramic windows allowing you to eat/drink whilst taking in the amazing views. The food is quite expensive £22 for 4 drinks and 4 scones, although the scones are to be recommended as they are warm when they are served. If you are a hot chocolate lover ask for the deluxe version as it is amazing!

“Great dinner experience but only part week in summer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

Picture the scene. A few Covered tables lined up along a large panoramic window, overlooking the Sound, a narrow passage with a fast flowing tidal stream. In the water there are many seals, in the air various sea birds fly past, and vast expanses of sea reflect the sun as it slowly sets on the horizon.
Service was friendly, a nice menu including various starters, lamb, sea foods including lobster, and desserts, and a small but good quality wine list, all reasonably priced. Don't be put off by the other reviews concerning the cafe during the day, the evening meal is well worth the trip and is a lovely romantic experience. The only down side is it is only in the summer, and only a few days each week, but if you have the chance, grab it!

“Great Location, Need to Work on the food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

As other reviewers have noted, the location is fantastic - where else can you watch seals and a wide range of other wildlife whilst you eat? That said, we've been eating here for years and the food has varied from fantastic to dire - it has changed patrons several times. Most recently, for lunch. my kipper pate was excellent - no bones, well flavoured and supplied with a good quantity of bread. Couldn't fault it. By contrast, my wife's queenies were decidedly sub-standard,. The sauce was lovely and very rich but the garlic was almost raw, and the queenies were only barely cooked. For those who don't know about queenies, they are small scallops, a fantastic local delicacy, and require little cooking (they can even be eaten raw) but they do require care to avoid being either overcooked and rubbery, or undercooked and a bit 'squidgy'. These were a bit of the latter. The garlic bread supplied with them was also very greasy. We won't be put off but might send them back if it happens again.

“Worth a visit, a "wow" location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014

Had lunch here on a lovely summer day, watching seals from in front of the cafe before and after. Stunning views across Calf Sound, loved the tinted panoramic windows, surely one of the finest views from any coastal cafe anywhere. All enjoyed in aircon comfort. Yes the staff seemed young and relatively inexperienced in accordance with previous reviews, but on this occasion they got it right, great queenies and kippers served quickly, full marks for effort and polite service. Not the cheapest cafe on the island it has to be said, but this quality of air conditioned building is never going to be as cheap as the average greasy spoon. A must visit location.
