Owner description: SUMMER SEASON 2018 (27.4.-12.11.2018) Since 1959, Katrin cable car has brought a range of visitors to the summit. Enjoy a charming 15-minute drive to more than 1,400 m above sea level with spectacular views! There are NUMEROUS PANORAMA ROUTES on mount katrin. The network of the circular walk extends from lovely Feuer- and Rosenkogerl westwards to the imperial Katrin summit and further to the beautiful Elferkogel, followed by the romantic Hainzen and the mighty Rosskopf - always accompanied by the impressive mountain scenery of the Salzkammergut that will inspire you. Multi-generation VIA FERRATA: Apart from fun and action for those who want to be active, the promising fixed rope route (suitable for families) offers a fabulous view of the most beautiful lakes of the Salzkammergut region. As highlight, the ascent ends at the majestic cross on the summit of Mount Katrin.

Cable car to the hill over the town of Bad Ischl, where you can start your trip or go to the via ferrata and climb up to the top of the mountain. Be careful, access to the via ferrata takes about 1 hour across hard terrain. The cable car provides you with nice views of the surrounding towns, mountains and lakes, but it is quite expensive - 19.50 euros per adult for a round trip.

15 minutes to the top for great views and some nice walking. Don't underestimate how hard the walk down is though - if in doubt, get the cable car down too!

It's a pretty ride to the top, where you can access several hiking trails. We did the 7 seas trail in about three hours. That included plenty of time to soak up the beauty from many benches scattered throughout the paths, as well as time to take photos and sit and have a snack. Most of the strenuous uphill climbing was at the beginning of the hike but there were plenty of benches to rest if needed. I'd also suggest good hiking shoes. The area gets a lot of rain so the shady parts of the trail were a bit slippery. We loved the hiking and the gorgeous views!

Nice views from the cable car, there is one restaurant upstairs, and you can also climb to the top of the mountain, which we did not do.

Overall if you dont have enough time, going up for a beer is a good option

We paid 120€ for a gondola for a group of 4, seniors and 2 kids. The ride still does NOT make it to the 7 lakes view upto which one must HIKE for about 2.5 hours.

Overall, you still get a view with good restaurant. The frequency is ok.

Thanks for your review.
The price for their tickets is not understandable for me, as a return trip costs € 18,00 for seniors and € 12,50 - for children - therefore a total price of € 97.-.
Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. If it was so we apologize for the inconvenience - that should not happen!
From the mountain station you have a fantastic panorama, but you can not see seven lakes - you have to walk along the so-called "7 lakes hiking trail" - a very popular round trip with three peaks and the view of seven lakes. This is exactly as described in all advertisements.
