“An amazing B&B in the Heart of Italy”
Reviewed 15 May 2012

I was so fortunate to have been suggested this place by friends of the owner, and wow, what an unbelievable suggestion! The accommodation is gorgeous, every inch of the B&B is meticulously furnished and cared for. The Kitchen is bright and open and has 12 foot tall doors that open on to a private plaza. Pictures do this place more justice than words, it truly feels as though you are in a true Italian Villa, with beautiful frescos decorating the ceiling and large terracotta tiles on the floor.

I plan on trying to make Umbria a frequent destination, between the people, wine, food and this B&B it is hard to not book a ticket and head back there right now!

Room Tip: There are two rooms, both the same level of street voice (which is low).

Palazzo delle Signorine was recommended to us by our friends who live nearby in Cannara (Umbria). The beauty of the region is truly astounding. It is green, vast and warm. The people are friendly and the food incredible. Our stay at Palazzo was no exception, full of warmth, stylish and extremely comfortable.

We stayed two glorious days in the Palazzo delle Signorine which has been carefully and stylishly re-furbished and decorated by the owners who truly have an eye for style and creating a comfortable atmosphere while maintaining the historical design. It has character but is also modern and extremely clean!

We were charmed to wake up to a full kitchen with all imaginable amenities (after exhausting travel, we could wake up, relax - have our coffee, fresh orange juice and toast)!

We loved the apartment so much that we extended our stay an extra night. After several (previous) nights of uncomfortable cold accommodations, we felt like royalty in this apartment. Each to our own large room and private bathroom (and there were two other unused bedrooms too). While taking in the beauty and relaxing here, we talked about how fabulous it would be to bring a group of 6-10 friends (easily done in an apartment of this size)! Dining area, sun room and even a Church built into the apartment!

Lots of windows and small balconies for air and views of the hustle and bustle of Cannara. This place is centered of town (nearby are grocery stores, cafe and restaurants). Short walk over bridge for laundry services and fabulous pizza joint (ask for the Pizza Cannara style delicious onions and cheese) - as Cannara is famous for onions!!!

We highly recommend Palazzo. It is a gem and was a highlight for our trip.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Palazzo delle Signorine is an elegant aristocratic house from the mid 1700s located in the charming medieval town of Cannara, famous for it’s annual onion festival. It was originally owned by two sisters, noblewomen, who never married and lived a reserved and mysterious life within the walls of the villa. Completely restructured by the current owners, today the Palazzo offers elegance and comfort in a warm and cordial atmosphere. The structure consists of three bedrooms, each with private bath and an independent apartment, as well as spacious common areas both inside and out. Immersed in the heart of the tranquil Umbrian countryside, Palazzo delle Signorine is minutes from the most beautiful villages of the area such as Assisi, Spello, Montefalco and Bevagna and within an hour’s drive of Perugia, Norcia and Orvieto – the perfect sojourn for your Umbrian holiday! Palazzo delle Signorine is comprised of three spacious bedrooms, each with private bath, and one apartment for vacation rentals only. Within the villa there is also ample communal space: a large eat-in kitchen where we frequently hold cooking classes and other events, as well as a separate dining room with working fireplace, and a sun room which overlooks the internal courtyard. There is even a small chapel, once used by the nobles of the town! ... more   less
