Everyone has their own dream. Mine has always been coming out of the desert, dirty, tired and hungry and finding tranquillity, hot water, wonderful food, kindest. You get that a lot in Morocco but Kasbah Azalay surpasses that. You are always greeted by Abdelkader very knowing smile, then quietly shown to to your wonderfully clean (how they manage to keep all the sand out, I will never know!) airy rooms. These are magnificent, with enough air able to flow through through for the hottest of days. Although there is air conditioning, if need. They all have huge showers, double sinks and plenty of hot water. After sleeping on sand for a week or more the beds are to die for, crisp white linen, duvets, pillows...what more can a girl want?
Well quite simply the best kept secret is their beauty pool. It's in a temple like building with tiny holes in the roof so you always have "stars" twinkling down at you. It's truly magical.
They have a wonderful bar where you can order lunch or coffee, watch television. Wifi is available in the foyer lounge area. Another point to make is that they have take time to find gifts in their shop, which you can buy, that do not seem to be over priced and slightly unusual.
Hassan provides you with sumptuous breakfast, a feast of pancakes, bread & wonderful freshly made cake and other goodies. In the evening you are provided with fresh soups, tagines and deserts. Then if you are lucky the boys provide you with a hour or two of musical entertainment.
M'hamid it's self is a lovely town, unspoilt (as yet) typically Moroccan. Well worth a visit.

We stayed at Kasbah Azalay in April-11 for 1 night and found it to be very good. The entire Kasbah was 'over-sized' - the rooms were enormous, large walk out terrace from our room, big bathrooms which were well equipped. The pool (we didn't use) inside its own building, was absolutely huge, in a room that reminded me of being in the mosque in Cordoba, Spain.

We ate dinner and breakfast before we left for the desert camp. Dinner was very good - typical Moroccan well prepared dishes, tasty. Breakfast was a typical Moroccan fare - more than adequate.

The Kasbah was nearly deserted when we were there and so staff support was limited but adequate.

Overall I would recommend with out hesitation if you are going to stay over night in M'Hamid. Kasbah Azalay is one of the best places in M'Hamid

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room with terrace for either sunrise or sunset across the desert
