Incredible place. Well worth the uneven steps to get there. To get up close you leave your shoes outside. I brought socks and thank god because the floor was boiling!

Spent only about 1/2 hour here as have been to so many cave temples. Lonely Planet describes it all better than me. Clean and well preserved but quite a few tourists in a small area. Enjoyed the walk from car park to Temple lake and around to Golden Temple and back to car park as few tourists do this.

Went with my mum - it is a bit of a climb - but WELL worth it . The cave paintings and sculptures are exquisite and amazing well preserved for 2000+ years . Please note - the steps are very steep - however there is another way with cobbled stones which is a smoother way to get there . If you don’t like steps - use this way . The place is very serene, well maintained and not very crowded .

A real must see on a Sri Lanka tour , we went with a private driver doing a tour of Sri Lanka and the most wonderful views at the top - it is a decent climb up and not suitable for those who cannot walk far or do hills as the paths are cobbled !

Lovely location, which some great views over Sri Lanka - can even see the Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the distance. The caves are interesting, but are very hot inside and can get very busy. It is quite a climb up a steep slope, so take comfy shoes and you do have to cover shoulders and knees are its a temple.
