“totally worth a visit”

Gives you a great understand of what happened to the locals during the occupation and is worth the £5 entry charge.

Don't watch the slide show near the entrance first, instead head through the coffee shop to occupation street and watch the video. Then go back to the start of the museum. The video really puts it into context and will increase your understanding of the content of the museum.

It opens at 10 and you probably need to allow 1-1.5hrs to get round.

Definately worth going to.

“Great collection!”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

Great collection of items, stories and memories. Really interesting visit and enjoyed looking at all the old photos of the island during the occupation. Visited with 3 adults and enjoyed ourselves but not really suitable for children under 10yrs as too much reading, nothing interactive.

“Extremely Interesting”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

We are so pleased we visited this museum. It is amazing how big the building actually is and it gives a true insight into what the Channel Islanders went through for the 5 years they were occupied. Do have a read of the personal diaries kept by locals in secret. The notices displayed put fear in you seeing how people were treated if they did not obey. Upstairs you will find vehicles and equipment used at the time. Be prepared for a lengthy visit and then enjoy a relaxing drink in the rear garden, weather permitting of course.

“loads of info”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

My husband loves the military side, I am more interested in the stories of the people, so this museum hit the target for both of us. We spent two and a half hours there, then walked the coast path. If you go make sure you go through the café, there is even more hiding up the stairs!
