“Unique exiting hotel which unfortunately lacks of attention to details.”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

On the positive : Stylish hotel must be some creative and bold architect has been allowed a little too much freedom. It's very 2010-ish and still feel as cool as intended. The service was polite and friendly in the restaurant, breakfast was great and tasty. Great bar and pool at the rooftop terrace

On the negative : Small things where broken in the room, there was no mini bar, reception didn't have a separate queue for elite members and we where waiting 25-30 minutes to check in.

I live in Chicago and was in Spain for business and traveled to Barcelona at the end of my trip. I stayed at this hotel for a weekend and was impressed. The decor was trendy and bright and unique. I liked the lobby. It was very inviting and encouraged guests to hang out there. There were computers in the lobby which was nice if you needed to check email or take care of business. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

There was a mall about 2 blocks away with restaurants and we even found a McDonalds in walking distance. The hotel is a bit of a distance from the downtown area, but there were cabs available.

We stayed at this hotel from 9th - 13th June, booked through Fleetway Travel and got a great deal. The outside of the hotel looks great and the inside even better. The first thing that strikes you on entering is the lovely smell wafting about the lobby. We were checked in quickly and given our key and directions to the room. The lifts are all glass and move very quickly. We were on the 20th floor so had great views over the city. We walked straight passed our room the 1st time as the whole wall was black and smooth lines. Inside our room was all white (some are all black I believe, but glad we got a white one), very modern and all streamlined. The back of the door was completely a mirror, the wardrobe, cupboard and toilet were behind what looked like part of the wall but were doors. There was a huge shower and sink area behind a glass screen, but with curtain which could be pulled across. Huge beds, a little too hard for my taste but that's a personal thing. The most amazing thing was the huge window which looked as though someone at thrown a brick through it (but in a nice way). The views through it are great. You get tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge, the only thing missing was fresh or long life milk. There was only powdered creamer, which I personally don't like. The toiletries were very nice and there were bathrobes and slippers available to use. The breakfast (which was included in our deal) was great. Everything you could want, and best of all it was available from 6.30 - 11.00! We dined in the restaurant on our first night as we didn't get there until later. The menu wasn't very expansive but we enjoyed what we had. It was quite expensive but the portions were huge. The service was good and the staff very pleasant. We never went up to the bar or pool so can't comment on those. We found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful and would recommend staying there to anyone. We caught the 46 bus from the airport, costing 2.15 euros each and got off at Ikea. The hotel was right across the road. We also bought a 3 day pass which for 20 euros gave us access to both the buses and metro. You are quite a way out from the centre of things. It took roughly 45 minutes on the metro from the hotel to the centre of Barcelona. We missed being able to just nip back to the hotel for a little rest then going out again, it's too far for that, but I am still glad we stayed here. There is a shopping mall with eateries a 5 minute walk from the hotel and is pleasant to walk around in the evening. We went to Port Vell one of the days and while there I visited the ladies loos. Ladies, you must go and see them. It costs 60 cents but each one is decorated differently (see picture of my favourite). As you came out you came through a small shop "2theloo", which stocked toiletries etc you may have forgotten and a few postcards and souvenirs. If you bought anything your 60 cents was knocked off. We visited Parc Guell (you have to pay to get in now and it's not cheap. We also visited Sagrada Familia, which is also expensive. If you want to visit this and go up the towers I would advise you to pre-book online. We got there at about 12.15 and the next time to go in was 1.30 if we wanted to go up the towers it was 3.30 before we could do that. I would have liked to go up the towers but didn't due to the time. We also went to Casa Mila. We didn't go in as I felt the price was too high and the front is covered at present as there is work going on. There is still lots to do that don't cost anything and there is certainly plenty to fill a midweek break. We had a great time and best of all, the weather was kind to us, very hot if sticky.

Room Tip: We were on the 20th floor which had great views. If you don't fancy an all black room ask for a...

The room is very spacious, the bathroom, the bed and couch are separated by glass walls. Comfort is total, starting with air conditioning and finishing with the docking station for iPhone / iPad from one of the nightstands. Last but not least have highlighted the existence of indoor and outdoor pools that help you to relax.
Breakfast is very varied, in a word excellent ! Any other meals served at the restaurant will just complete the already excellent views taken for hotel kitchen.
In the end I can only say, yes, I should go back any time here !

Room Tip: If the hotel is busy, ask for a room on a lower floor (in other case you'll wait a lot for eleva...

We spent a few nightswith colleagues in this hotel. The decor and the the building were unusual but not necessarily to my taste. The restaurant / bar at the top of the building closed early which was a pity - we never got the experience to visit. One star from my rating goes away with service for the breakfast. There were perhaps too many people for the staff to handle - nevertheless the service seemed slow and impolite, and many of the serving plates were empty, e.g. on my second morning I did not manage to get bacon nor scrampled eggs. This for a 24 eur breakfast is not acceptable. However I can imagine on some other time our stay might have been better. I'm doubtfull I would return though...

Our four night stay at this great hotel was very enjoyable. Staff and service were very good and breakfasts excellent. We requested a high floor, and almost flew up to the 24th level in the glass lift. There are five lifts, very fast, so you don't wait very long. Views of the city were amazing day and night. You can even see the sea in the distance. Our white room was fine, loved the general design of the hotel and the rooms. The downside of the room was a lack of privacy in the shower area, would have preferred a bath also (apparently bigger rooms) and there could have been more information in the room and more toiletry items. (Just the little details that make a true five star hotel).

We ate dinner one evening in the restaurant and it was very good. The roof top bar had great views and was a lovely place to sit in the evening. Also the lobby bar and lounge had lots of comfortable seating which was welcome while waiting for our transfer.

Yes, the hotel is out of town but the metro is virtually next door and so is the bus stop. When you arrive take the 46 bus from the airport and buy some T10 tickets to travel around the city. Near the hotel is the Gran Via shopping mall which is quite palatial with lots of shops and some cafes and restaurants. The space around the hotel is clean and quiet and a break from the hub and bub of the city. All in all - a great stay and would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: Go for a high room with a city view. Might be nice to have a superior room or a suite if you can.
