Stayed in Jnr suite and it was well worth the extra charge, its a very modern and new hotel with just a short trip from the airport, we have already booked to stay in this hotel again in September,we really enjoyed our stay here, very nice and help full staff and just across the road there is a shopping center with over 200 shops!

Room Tip: spend the extra money and stay in a suite!

We stayed at the SB Plaza for the Spanish Grand Prix and to see the sights of Barcelona. It was a perfect location for us as we had a car and it was easy to travel out of the city to the circuit and only 10/15 mins from the airport. Also, driving downtown only took 10 mins but there is a metro station only 5 mins walk away if you prefer public transport to get around.

The hotel is new and some of the design features were a little interesting..the roof top swimming pool is a very strange shape, not really useful for actually swimming as it almost goes into a point in one corner so you would bump into other people if you were swimming up and down. Our room was on the first floor and I think designed for disabled access. The bathroom floor including shower area is all on one level with no screen so the water from the shower goes straight out onto the bathroom floor so it was soaked every day!

We loved the lobby area with floor to ceiling bookshelves and logs for tables. The restaurant food was ok. We had dinner there twice, the first meal was good but we had burgers the second time and they were stone cold. Drinks are very cheap for a hotel restaurant.

There is a nice shopping centre straight across the road and a giant supermarket if you want to pick some food items up to take out with you during the day.

Hotel staff were mostly great and helpful. Would definitely recommend it to others and look forward to visiting Barcelona again in the future.

Stayed for 5 nights for the Spanish Grand Prix. Booked it blind by reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and the Hotel web Site. We weren't disappointed. The hotel is superb, lovely clean and modern rooms and a fantastic hotel lobby. You can always tell a hotel by it's lobby and communal areas and this one doesn't disappoint. We were room only and like others on here were shocked by the cost of breakfast and meals in general. However we found the local Bar/Cafe next door was more than happy to accommodate us for breakfast. See my review of the Panaderia Restaurant for further information. The hotel staff were brilliant, helped us when our car got towed away in a very professional manner. Would stay here again without hesitation.

We had a room for 3 people for 5 nights. Rooms and washrooms were very clean. Beds were extremely comfortable.. Even the single bed cot was comfortable. The other bed was a queen. Good shower/tub.. The daily cleaning was very good. There is a small fridge that has some food you must pay to eat, but serves as a good place to put your own food. No microwave or anything else.. There is a hot water kettle, though.

Used the gym.. Clean. No free weights though. Very dim lighting. There is a rooftop pool that is glorious! You can watch the sun set on the patio there. The pool is not heated though. But nice to lay on their lounge chairs.there is a rooftop bar there.

We did not try their restaurant or room service.

Check in was a breeze. Front desk person was very helpful and did speak some English which we greatly appreciated.

Hotel is not in central Barcelona but is very easy to get there. Take the L8 Line which is 3 minute walk from the hotel, on the main road across the street.. Take this train to espanya and there you can change to regular metro line. Very quick and easy. Make sure if you are there for more than a couple days to get the T10 PASS. much better deal and can switch from L8 To regular metro no problem ( they are sepeate companies so not sure if single tickets will allow you to do that.. You cannot switch bus to train with single tickets but can do that with the T10. T10 can be shared among other people traveling with you.

Very easy to get to hotel from airport via bus. Take bus 46 and get off at "grand via --ildefons cerva" . bus driver gives change if you don't have exact fare.

Hotel is also very conveniently located next to a giant mall.. GRAND VIA 2. Complete with shops and a huge carrefour supermarket that you can buy groceries and snacks at. Keep in mind they are not open Sunday. There are restaurants at the back of the mall.

Overall we enjoyed our experience at sb plaza and would most definitely return.

The hotel is very modern and our room was quite nice. Bed was comfy, and I rarely say that about any bed but my own tempurpedic at home. Only 2 negatives: 1- I booked this through CheapTickets and got a fantastic rate; however, breakfast is not included in the lower rate and is an additional 12 euros per person (approx. $17 each) per day if you want to eat at the hotel. It was a very nice buffet breakfast, but too expensive in my opinion. We only ate there the first day. Not really complaining, just FYI. 2- if you use the train system, it is about 20 minutes from the city center and reasonably priced. if you use taxis, (10 to 15 minutes) expect to pay around 14 euro ($20) each way. You can get a 10 trip ticket for 10 euros to use the subway/train. Nearest station is about 2 blocks from the hotel. A plus: Beautiful mall across the street (Gran Via 2) with a supermarket on the lower level where we bought drinks and snacks to keep in the room. Also has a nice food court for a quick meal.

Dear Vickieret,

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.

About the price of our buffet breakfast, you'll see it is the normal rate in a 4-stars hotel according to the wide range of products offered and their quality. It is true that if you found a fantastic rate for your room, the price of breakfast may seem too high. We also offer to our clients our bar-cafetería, where you can have a lighter breakfast for a lower Price.

It will be for us a pleasure that you choose again Hotel SB Plaza Europa for your next visit to Barcelona!

Had room 304 which was huge!

Staff are super friendly and will help you whenever they can, from switching over the TV in the lobby to opening the gym early.

Ammenieties are excellent gym is very clean, Unfortunately, I didn't get to try out the roof top pool!

We came to Barcelona on the second stop of our honeymoon. We stayed here for four days. Overall, we had a good stay. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel was extremely clean, modern and has a great pool area with an awesome view of the city. They have a great bar with a nice patio and lounge area. Some nights after a long day, we would sit around in the lounge or patio and just have a big container of their awesome Sangria.

The only thing that docks this review by one point is the really small room we had.

If you're concerned about whether or not they speak English, they do. But my advice would be to at least try and meet them halfway. Learn what phrases you need to know in terms of ordering food. Between my husband and I, we know enough Spanish to get around. But you're in a local neighborhood, so if you plan on eating at the small joints down the street, try to know enough to order yourself some food and say please and thank you. In the end, I felt way more appreciated when we did that.

Room Tip: A "Single" room is very small, only big enough for one person and definitely not two. As f...
