Hotel Fira Congress
Reviewed 23 May 2014

Stayed her for a conference, very convenient for walking to and from the venue as long as it is not raining. The breakfast was good, set price evening meals very large and filling. The bedrooms were uninviting. Beds were uncomfortable, mattresses were very thin and no mattress protectors! Lack of pillows. Air conditioning did not work in the hotel so it was quite uncomfortable trying to sleep. Meeting rooms are good. The staff are friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in order to be close to relatives staying at Hesperia Towers. It looked like walking distance on the map, but it was a little further than we thought. The airport shuttle cannot be reserved in advance for picking you up at the airport. You must call when you arrive, and someone will come. From the time we called the shuttle to the time we arrived at the hotel took over an hour. Although the staff won't give out pickup times from the airport, it is necessary to reserve the shuttle from the hotel to the airport (and they do have set times for that). There is also a shuttle to the city center and back for €1/person, which we did not use. A daytime taxi from the hotel to Plaza Catalunya cost about €14. I have a mixed opinion of the staff. The woman who checked us in would receive a low score from me, but the man who got us a cab and the woman who checked us out the next day were much more friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very nice and modern, and so are the rooms. I especially enjoyed the lighting and the large shower. The shower part of the bathroom does not have a door, and the door to the toilet leaves a significant gap when closed, so don't expect full privacy.

Although my overall opinion of the hotel is positive, there were a few issues:
1. There was a large dirty handprint on the bathroom wall. There is no possible way that a cleaning person could have missed it because of its size and location.
2. The floor in the bathroom looked like water had dripped all over it and things had been set in the water, and was not mopped after that. It's a difficult thing to describe, but it appeared that the floor might have been swept and not mopped.
3. The pillows were awful. They were long and skinny, which made it awkward to use them properly, and my neck was sore the next day.
4. The spa. Part of the reason we booked this hotel was for the spa access that was included in the price of the room. It was mentioned to us as an amenity at check-in as well. The brochure in our room said that the spa would be open 7:00am-9:00pm. We visited the spa area at 8:45. We were able to go in the locker rooms and the gym, but the glass door separating the gym from the spa was locked and the spa was dark. We waited in the lobby area of that floor for 30 minutes, and no one ever came and unlocked the door. We finally left because we needed to prepare to leave. It was disappointing.

Just returned from the F1 weekend and stayed 4 nights in the Fira Congress. Great hotel, close to Metro and large shopping centre. Hotel is in the middle of the conference centre but was very quiet. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. Didn't eat in the restaurant as there are several places to eat at the shopping centre. Had a couple of drinks at the bar, prices were expensive but only what you would expect to pay in a hotel. Room was lovely and clean however the lighting system took a while to get used to. Hotel staff were very helpful. The hotel offers a free shuttle from the airport. We phoned the hotel on arrival at the airport and the shuttle was there in about 10 mins. We booked the shuttle for our return trip to the airport and this arrived on time. The metro was a very short walk from the hotel. If you are planning to use the Metro on your visit look into buying a T10 ticket. This costs just over 20 euros and enabled us to get the F1 at Montmelo for two days running for two people as well as several other journeys into Barcelona city. Excellent value for money. Would be nice to have tea and coffee making facility in room, that's about the only thing wrong with it, would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 8th floor, lovely views of Barcelona.

This hotel is trying to hard, with this location near all expos and congresses they need to step up.
The rooms are big but does not use the space right. The room feels could and not friendly. Chairs and beds are hard and not very good. Plus for great food and very nice staff.

A good, modern hotel 2 minutes from the giant Fira exhibition centre. Rooms offer a great view towards Barcelona, but are over stylish in terms of unfathomable lighting, weird bathroom and no desk. The Wi-Fi internet connection is ‘variable’.
The people at reception are very helpful, as are the bar staff. However, the quality of the food in the restaurant is generally below the hotel’s 4 star rating – best avoided, although the choice close by is limited to one other hotel – which on the single occasion we tried it was good.
While the hotel offers an airport pickup and drop-off service, its location is only any use if you have business in this area. It’s a €15+ taxi ride into the centre, and the surrounding area – which is an industrial estate, has absolutely nothing to offer.
But, with this in mind, it remains an OK hotel.

Conveniently located across the street from the convention center, ideal for conventions but far from the main attractions in Barcelona.
The rooms are of very modern design but not on the practical side.. E.g. There's a coffee table, but no desk to work on; the TV is Bang & Olfson, but was difficult to operate and had 2 remotes; and , not one English speaking channel; reading lamps above the bed were halogen and became very hot..
