Forest Hill Resorts

Location - Its around 2 Kms from Main market in Laripora village located on a small hill. Beautiful location and amazing view from the front facing rooms.River Lidder flows right across the road, 2 mins from the hotel. Approach road is a little bad and would get worse in the rains.

Rooms - Very nice and well kept rooms. Cleanliness is up to the mark.Stayed in room no 205, its in the 2nd wing above the restaurant and hence gets a little noisy. Local cable is available to watch on the TV and we get almost all the channels.

Staff - Nice and courteous staff

Restaurant - We used to have breakfast but it was very average. If its included in the package then its reasonable. Going for buffet / Ala cart is very expensive.

Weather - Stayed from 8th April 2013 to 10th April. It was quiet cold and rained on one of the days as well. But the rooms are equipped with electric blankets so was comfortable to sleep.
Electricity is a problem but they do have a generator back facility.

Vehicles from pahalgam are only allowed for sightseeing and hence you will not be allowed to use your car. But if you want to go out for dinners/shopping etc you should have your vehicle as there are no restaurants around forest hill resort.Have tired Dani Pani and Nathus Rasoi. Dana Pani is better in taste as well as less expensive.

Recommendations - Take Room + breakfast plan. Not sure about the meals.

Room Tip: Avoid taking the rooms in the 2nd wing on the first floor as its right above the restaurant and gets...

The location is away from the main market place and this place is approached from a narrow winding lane with small village houses on both sides. There are a few long stairs to climb to reach the small garden and the rooms. This place is more like a homestay, the building has just two blocks that looks like duplex cottages. There is a small two level garden in the front with chairs to relax and enjoy the snow peak views. The location is on a small hillock and the views from the garden are good. The rooms are very basic & small in size, lack the luxury feel of a resort. The bathrooms are also old fashioned. Our room felt really cold and we had to ask for a heater which actually was not that effective. The power situation is really erratic and the backup generator does not come ON immediately at all times. They do not have a restaurant, but have a inhouse kitchen with dinning facility where the food is served. They do not serve lunch/ dinner in the rooms. We ordered dinner on both the days and found the food average in taste. The breakfast is also served in the dinning room, which has very limited choices and you need to settle for whatever they provide. The hotel does not accept any credit cards, and surprisingly they do not provide the bill (althought the Service/ Lux Tax is charged) Pahalgam is a beautiful small mountain town that has the lidder river flowing throughout, it is advisable that you select a resort that is in close proximity to the river to enjoy the nature. The main market place has some good eating places like Nathu Ki rasoi, Dana Paani which can only be reached from this place if you have a hired cab. Overall the Forest Hill is a budget place with limited offerings.

We were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful property in Pahalgam. Small but beautiful gardens with grand views of snow clad mountains on all sides. Nice rooms with heated beds. Hotel has too many stairs from the parking and may not be suitable for elderly people.

Hotel: Very Good... considering you are in a remote place like Pahalgam

Location: Good.... Beautiful views of the himalayas from the hotel... The lidder river is a short downhill walk from the hotel.

Staff: Very responsive and always ready to help. Special thanks to the Manager Mr. Javid who is extremly helpful.

Food: Very Basic. This is one area where the hotel needs to improve. The buffet breakfast and dinner is very basic.

Other small points: Power supply in Pahalgam is very erratic. Power backup is only available during the day time. At night time if the power is out, be ready for a few hours in complete darkness.

Pahalgam is a very scenic and serene place. But one needs to be away from the clutter of the town.
Forest hill is a ver calm place. Rooms are good. The common balcony has an extremely beautiful view. Just sit there are sip on tea :)
The staff is polite and helpful. The lawn is also pretty decent.
Tip- wake up early morning to see the view from the balcony.

Overall go for it

The location is very nice, we had enjoyed the morning walk near the river stream which is just opposite to the hotel. The hotel rooms are neat and clean and the staff is very friendly and service oriented. Over all service is very nice. Food options are limited, but food is tasty and nice.
