Owner description: Mamleshwar is considered to be an ancient temple that probably dates back to 400 AD. It is located at just a mile away from Pahalgam town. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and stands across the Kolahoi stream up towards the mountain. According to legend, this is the temple where Ganesha was placed as door keeper not to allow anyone to enter the temple without his permission. Mam Mal means don't go, and thus it is also known as Mammal temple. Tourists from across the world throng the temple during their holidays in Pahalgam.

Not well maintained, may be because of the winter season. Can be easily skipped. The walk to the temple was nice though.

The temple is situated in the Pahalgham village. It was a very nice place to see from outside as we did not get a chance to go inside the temple. Someone had locked it and went home.

We were went to this temple based on list of attractions available on Internet for Pahalgam. The temple is located in market and is opens only when visitors visit, for rest of the time its always closed. There is a water springs in front of temple, which never dries and gets water from the ground. The temple is of lord Shiva which is been established by Pandavas during Mahabharat era.

If this location is missed, do not worry there is not much to see apart if one is believer of God and wants to see some ancient work.
