We visited here in May, and found it a really wonderful experience. The food was wonderful, the owner very friendly and helpful, and all very clean. Everything was perfect for our romantic break, we could not fault this hotel in any way. We would most certainly visit Himalaya House again, and recommend it!

Room Tip: Whole hotel is quiet.

We stayed in Himalaya house for 2 nights..The location is abit far from town.We stayed in the cottage and our room overlloked the river just beneath..There is a very beautiful garden opposite the rooms. The views of the mountain is amazing. We went up the mountains with Shaban. He took us on a memorable horse tour of the valley and mountains. The food was ok.Its a simple menu and made fresh with reasonable prices..the staff were okay..We were given hot water bottles at night which were of great help,as it was quite cold..The place is popular with backpackers..Pahalgam people are generally the friendliest in Kashmir..

I came to Pahalgam for 4 days to relax and enjoy some fresh air and experience the peace and beauty of Kashmeer. And for sure I experienced that in Pahalgam and staying in Himalaya house was a wonderfull place and starting point. The rooms are lovely and a lovely garden with the nice sound of the running lake in the backyard to enjoy the meals. The personnal are very lovely, helpfull and it has a homely atmosphere. They have a good guide to take you on tours, or help to arrange trips for you.

I had 4 lovely days and can highly recommand this place for relaxing and taking some few hiking trips or starting point for longer hiking trips.

we only stayed 1 night here, nothing to complain at all.
we were only guests during our stay, so it's rather too quiet.
we initially booked cottage 1 but decide to stay in cottage 2.

the weather is not too cold by the time we were there, but we were offered hot water bottle anyway, which stays warm through the night :)
from the house, we walk to nearby village and get a chat with locals and get to see their way of life up close. which we really enjoy.
it would be so great if we can get to the river from the house, but cannot do so as there is a fence.

for the rate and services they provide, i'll stay here again if i have a chance to come back.

Room Tip: stay at downstairs cottage, it's right by the garden and private.

Everything about Himalaya House is just perfect. In fact the stay at Himalaya House and Pahalgam are the best part of my trip to J & K. As mentioned in the other reviews, all the people at the hotel are warm and helpful. We definitely plan to visit this place again.

The view from the room is very beautiful, the hotel is right on the edge of river Lidder.

Room Tip: The rooms and cottages all face the river !!!!

Himalaya House is not your regular hotel. I took a chance basis reviews on Tripadvisor as the other "hotels" in Pahalgam were priced three times as much, with nothing exceptional to offer.

This property is part of a group that seems to specialise in trekking/ mountain activities - I say "seem" because we were there for only a night and could not experience any of that. Its a little difficult to get in touch with them initially, but once I got the number of the owner Gulzar Hakeem, it was all done on the phone (I transferred money into his account and there was no e-mail reply/ confirmation etc - but they were expecting us and had prepared lunch as we drove straight from SXR airport - absolutely nothing to worry about)

We requested the two room cottage overlooking the river (basic but comfortable amenities, also checked the rooms on the 1st floor in the neighboring cottage - these have slightly newer fittings, are slighter larger and have a view of the river from the room itself)

This place is far off from the main market - but as mentioned in the other reviews, the main market / city is hardly the attraction Pahalgam

They serve the day meals in the open on a garden/ island that is absolutely OVER the river - the food is great - somehow did not enjoy kashmiri/ wazwan food as such, the home cooked food we got here was probably the best we had in the trip

Few interesting things:

1. There is no formal check-in as such - Golam Rasool and Ramzan will be waiting for you at the entrance, after greeting us they showed us our rooms and settled us in
2. There is no food menu:) - like a kitchen at home they will ask you a couple of hours before meal time what you would like to eat - they had no issues in making veg, chicken or mutton that we ordered - am sure they can do other stuff if you ask them
3. Since there was no menu we had no clue how much each meal would cost us (as in there is no signing of bills etc) - however the total bill that we paid for 4 meals for 5 adults was a ridiculously reasonable amount - so no worries there
4. It was not that cold - but they were the only ones to offer hot water bottles to us:) that was great, reminded us of our hostel days in the hill stations.

They are extremely flexible - my Mom fell a little unwell - they had no problem is getting separate food made for her, also offered to get medicines etc

Ramzan arranged a vehicle for us to do the local sightseeing - chandanwari, auri etc. The next day we decided to just take it easy and enjoy the "house" before we had lunch and left for Srinagar.

Don't expect 5 star facilities - but then Pahalgam is so breathtakingly beautiful - we did not miss that - probably should have stayed an extra night here in Pahalgam, but will keep that for the next trip:)

Room Tip: Ask for rooms near the dining room on the 1st floor
