You would definitely need a car to get to the residence.. and preferably a 4x4. The road is rough and rugged but once you reach your destination you forget all about the possible flat tyres as the view is breath-taking. The apartments are well planned and the barbq/breakfast area faces the most spectacular view. Rain or Shine this view will remain instilled in ones memory. Other than that the apartment is convenient and the resort is equipped with a good-sized pool and the tortoise :)
RECOMMENDABLE!!

Room Tip: Sea facing view: its worth it.

These are apartments on the top of a mountain, hence the amazing views. We didn't hire a car as we didn't stay long and only really wanted the beach everyday, but I'd really recommend hiring a car if you stay here. There is a limited shuttle bus which finishes early (about 6pm if I remember correctly) which takes you to the beach/ local restaurants so unless you have a car, you're either stuck in the apartment, or can't get back after 6pm. There are no taxi's here, (we managed to get the owner of the restaurant to drop us back) and to get out of the local area, we used the local Pullman service- buses come about once an hour. We would have been able to be a lot more independent if we'd hired a car. The apartments were fine, clean, a little old but nothing too unexpected.

We were spending time travelling around Sardinia and decided to stay here for 3 days. Not many reviews to go by but the website looked OK so we took a chance. Torre delle Stelle is situated on the coast road between Cagliari and Villasimius. Take the turning for the town and follow the signs for the Residence Torre delle Stelle. The road keeps going up and up and is bumpy and dusty. Just keep going until you cannot go any higher. The residence is on the very top of the hill. Reception is closed between 1pm and 4pm so you are not able to check in during this time. We were lucky - just arrived after 1pm and some one was still there.

Our first impressions on looking at the complex from the outside was not favourable. It looks run down and definitely needs some cementing and painting. We were given room 15 and we were taken to the room, still a little uneasy on what we would encounter in the room. And then the door opened. In front of us. It was the most fantastic view I have ever seen from a hotel room balcony. It takes your breath away and we just stood on the balcony in total amazement of what was in front of us. I have posted photos but I do not believe they do this view justice.( Not too sure if all the rooms have this view so if you are booking maybe this is a request to ask for)

The room was a good size with a double bed, cupboard, small kitchen area and bathroom. Comfortable and relaxing. A tv was available but it did not seem to have an aerial connected so it did not work. But who wants to watch tv when you can sit on the balcony and watch that view. The pool on site is a small area and may get crowded in busy times. We used it at the end of the day at about 6pm and there was plenty of room then.

There are beaches nearby and we spent time exploring each of them . You will definitely need a car staying here. After a few times going up and down that road we got used to it but I would not like to walk it. Near the beach in the town is a supermarket, small café and a pizza restaurant. It must be the only town in Italy where a pizza place closes for lunch. It opens at 7.30pm and will also do take away. Take a pizza back to the apartment and sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.

The only thing I am not too sure of with staying here is the policy of servicing the room. I tried to ask a couple of times in reception but I think the answers were “lost in translation”. The room was not serviced the time we were there so we did not get fresh towels or fresh bedding. We swept the room our selves with the broom in the room and we had to keep asking for toilet rolls and rubbish bags. I also asked what we did with the rubbish and was directed to a car park on the side where the wheelie bins were stationed. So we had to clear our own rubbish as well. This could be because it was an apartment so you totally look after yourselves or we just misunderstood and did our own thing any way. But you know what – it did not detract from our experience because we always had that view to look at

Overall – a truly authentic Italian experience on top of a hill with a fantastic view. It was worth going up and down that road to get to this place just to sit on the balcony, wine in hand looking out over the bay. There are things the residence can do to make the guest stay a better experience but having a view like that just puts the little irritating things at the back of your mind

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view of the bay
