Spent three nights in this lovely hotel. We had a standard room in the main building. The estate was bought in the early 1970s and clearly has had a lot invested into making it a lovely venue for weddings or for a peaceful break in scenic surroundings. We were guests at a wedding for 150, all of whom were catered for really well, with outstanding food for the numbers involved.
Our only tiny gripe was that there is a great space in the dungeon for parties to continue into the early hours. Unfortunately our room was above the exit and so we were woken two mornings running at 4.30am/4:45 am by the noise of the revellers. So just ask if there are any parties in the dungeon and if there are, and you are not intending to be at it then ask for a room where you won't hear the noise. There are plenty available.
We would go back again as its such a lovely place, but only with proviso as above.More
