Just had to write to comment on the wonderful wedding, I attended at Lough Rynn castle. The setting, the hotel, the food and most of all, the staff were excellent. They went out of their way for you and were genuinely talkative. Well Done All.

Stayed here on Saturday 16th of August. Got a deal through the hotels own website which included B&B, bottle of wine and a late check out at 2pm.
First thing is we never received the bottle of wine which was promised. On arrival there was a large wedding and they were all gathered around reception which made getting in to try and check in very difficult and quite uncomfortable.
Our room was not in the hotel but in another lodge part which i was dissapointed about. The room was very clean but extremely small. Not close to what was advertised. The tv remote didnt work and also alot of the channels were not working.
Overall very dissapointed with our stay as we had travelled along way from Cork to stay in this hotel as we had heard great things about it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the hotel castle itself.

We had a quick stay in the castle as part of our Irish Castle Tour. Had a little trouble finding it, maybe not being used to the Irish roads and driving :-) This is a spectacular property and exactly what we were hoping for when we booked this type of trip. The staff are very personable and we would have been happy to stay talking with them all night but had to get out and see the sights.
The room was really great, didn't really know what to expect but we weren't disappointed. It is relatively small but maintains the charm you want in a Castle experience. Very comfortable stay in a very comfortable room.
The castle itself is amazing. They have done a great job of maintaining the character while making this a very comfortable place to stay.
Breakfast was very elegant and a great start to the day. Service was wonderful.
Highly recommended.

From the second you drive through the gates you know your in for a treat.we were attending a wedding and staying for one night.

Upon check in we were shown to our rooms by a lovely young lad.the rooms are huge Nicely furnished.the building is stunning even the residences bar "the dungeon" is quirky in its own right

The staff are lovely friendly any staff member you meet they always great you and were so helpful
The breakfast was not bad not many places you get a choice of smoked or regular bacon or a choice of eggs.

The grounds are breath taking the walled gardens are well worth a stroll,I will be back this hotel has the wow factor

I was a little disappointed when I saw my room at first as it was quite small and dark and relied on Velus windows for light so I had no view as such.

However once room service arrived I knew I was in for a treat. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was amazing - possibly the best breakfast I have had in a hotel in Ireland - and the breakfast room was lovely. There are lots of little nooks and crannys around the bar area where you can hide with a book. The gardens really won me over - it has an absolutely stunning walled garden, indescribably beautiful.

I will certainly come back.

I don't write reviews to criticize or put others off but I feel I must give an honest opinion of my stay at Lough Rynn. The location is stunning and the public rooms are beautifully furnished, the bedrooms are very well decorated with comfortable beds. The hotel prides itself on giving that little bit extra but despite the friendly staff I feel that there is room for improvement and one or two small changes could make a lot of difference especially in the restaurant.
We had a 25 minute wait for a rather overcooked breakfast .
The salmon and chicken starters are really just a whole chopped up fillet mixed with dressing and pressed into a ramekin dish... too much for a starter portion and the main courses have too much meat and not enough vegetables. definitely not two rosette standard.
There is no seating for the elderly in the lovely walks down to the lake.
We were unable to read our morning papers in peace as a sales rep was talking loudly to the Manager on duty in the adjoining bar. Surely this should take place in an office.
The toiletries are of poor quality and do not lather well.
The water pressure in the shower changes if the toilet is flushed.
If you stay in the downstairs eastern range rooms you will hear the upstairs occupants walking around.
This was our first visit and I don't think I would be in any great hurry to return.

We spent 3 lovely nights at Lough Rynn, from 27th to 30th July, and it was sooo relaxing. Lovely walks all around the grounds (so no excuse for not walking off all that lovely food!). Bedroom was large, bed very comfy, and with fantastic shower room. We were lucky enough to have a courtyard room so could sit outside our room in the sunshine. Breakfast was good with good choice of fruits, cheese, breads etc., and your choice of hot breakfast brought to your table. We didn't have dinner in the sandstone restaurant so can't comment on this, but chose to eat in the bar instead and it was very, very good. As mentioned in other reviews, the staff are a credit to this hotel, pleasant, helpful and informative about places to visit. I do hope we can get back there again soon.
