This restaurant 'El Timon' meaning The Rudder is situated at Calle Nicolas Albornoz 21 (very near Plaza de Espana) tel. 957522360. It is a very pleasant restaurant where you can enjoy ‘home cooking’ at its best.
In Cabra it is always best to phone before actually going to the restaurants as they all seem to enjoy different closing days, so make sure the night you chose to enjoy a meal here it will be opened for business. Check time too as some will only open at 9.00pm
As a first course we had baby Lima beans with Spanish ham which though plain were delicious. This time we opted for what was offered as the ‘special’ of the house which was called Carillada de ternera (A beef stew) it was very tender and tasty made with chin of beef and served with fried potatoes. My husband went for a wiener schnitzel with new potatoes which was tender and he enjoyed. My meal although very tasty would not be suitable for the English taste.
The desserts were mainly frozen ones but good. The waiter was most helpful and the service good. They also offer The Menu of the Day for lunches at the price of 9 Euros for a three course meal with plenty of choices for each course.
Plain but good.
