Our family stayed at Il Nido for a week in July 2014, 2 adults and 1 child aged 3. Based on the reviews we requested a room in the lower part of the hotel. The room was quite small but had all the amenities you expect, TV, fridge, we had a balcony with partial view but that was absolutely fine and we still found it very relaxing sitting out and look at the sea - the deckchairs on the balcony are definitely a bonus. The hotel staff are really friendly, especially the staff doing the breakfast and the beach bar staff - everyone is very relaxed and helpful and all like kids and are welcoming of families. It was great to have the beach as it saved us having to search for beaches and in this part of Italy a lot of the beaches are small with pebbles.... and you get all the deck chairs and the parasols for free, the lifeguard is amazing at arranging them every morning. He even gave my husband his old flippers to swim with. There are kayaks too you can use for free. The food at the beach bar is really good and relatively cheap (for the area!). We had a very relaxed amazing week at Il Nido and would definitely recommend it. Other families staying at the hotel were really friendly so the kids played together on the beach which was really nice. I don't know what prices locally are but I felt like at Euro180 a night it was not a cheap stay though although I agree with reviews that say that the hotel is worth more than its 3 stars official rating. My only negative comment is that the hotel was relatively noisy in the mornings with people shutting doors and you can hear them talk next door (mind you they were very loud Italians - sorry Italy we love you but you are noisy). The hotel was very quiet in the evenings though and at night - some of the reviews said you could hear scooters etc, that was not our experience, we got a good night sleep. The free and off the road parking was also a huge bonus as parking in Italy is generally difficult to park and to prevent scratches to the hire car.

Delfino - the first restaurant by the hotel is amazing food and service, as was Polpo di mare in Tellaro but make sure you sit on the balcony upstairs to see the views. The little beach bar right by the beach of Tellaro is also very nice. Lerici is also very nice and lots of rides and things for kids to do.

Room Tip: Try and get a room in the main part of the hotel as it is a long way up from the beach otherwise.

We really enjoyed our stay at Il Nido and will miss the stunning sea views from the breakfast room and terraces. We particularly enjoyed the delicious array of foods at breakfast, fruits, cereals, pastries, and cold cuts. The staff were very friendly and always on hand to help- particularly Cinzia in the breakfast room. The hotel also features it's own small private beach with a terrace set into the cliff face overlooking the sea. The hotel is well located, just a short walk into the small village of Tellaro or a bus ride to Lerici where you can get a boat to the Cinque Terre. Florence is also accessible by car. There are also some nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel in particular La Caletta where we indulged in our passion for great pasta and seafood. Would love to return next year!

The best place to stay when visiting Cinque Terre, close to the touristic places to visit but very quiet, great atmosphere, very nice people, we come since 10-12 years and have always enjoyed it so much.

We absolutely loved this place! Our family of 4 was across the street in Il Nido 2, on the bottom floor, without a view, but our room was air conditioned, nicely decorated, large and clean. Did not bother us a bit that we didn't have a view from our room. We spent most of our time at the beach.

The location of this small quaint village was away from the busier villages of Lerici, La Spezia, and Cinque Terre region. It did take some time to travel to the Cinque Terre region by taxi, bus and train, but coming back to our quiet village was just what we needed.

Everyone at the front desk staff and beach bar were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing and the best we had in 3 weeks of our travels and ... it was FREE! Loved the small private beach with kayaks and small rock cliffs for our boys to jump from.

The town of Tellaro is a short walk to amazing Italian seafood, shops and markets. Only stayed 3 nights and wished we would have stayed for a week. Would love to come back someday.

Room Tip: Book early to reserve a room with a view. Travelers of two or less will stay in the main part of th...

Loved our stay at Il Nido. Fantastic area, great views and nice serviceminded staff.
This is a place for true relaxation. The rooms are simple (NIDO2) but fully functional (you dont go here to spend time on the room). Breakfast and snackbar works fine and there is a short walk into Tellaro where you find some nice restaurants.
Tellaro is not a high end vacation resort but a lovely, relaxed and truely Italien village where you get the chance to experience really good italian seafood and some nice views.

Can't recommend this hotel high enough. We are a family of five that stayed here for 2 nights on our summer vacation. Wish we could have stayed longer. The views are outstanding. The beach is perfect. The staff literally jumped any time we asked for anything (thank you Fabrizio!). We enjoyed walking into Tellaro and eating authentic italian food on the square. I'm so glad we found this hotel. My family was thanking me (slam dunk!).

I have mixed feelings about Il Nido. We booked a double room with panoramic view and terrace and we got both...sort of. The panoramic view was only available from the terrace which was adjacent to a ladies toilet. I thought €160 a night B&B a bit strong and the room only just about met the description on the booking confirmation. The room was clean but basic, no frills. The hotel is in two parts either side of the road. The older part is on the cliff accessed down a lot of steep steps. On checking in, when I asked if someone could help us with our cases from our car parked up the slope in the hotel car park across and along the road after our long drive from Pisa, I was told in no uncertain terms that this is a 3 star hotel signor hence we don't provide that service. Sorry I asked and thanks for the warm welcome. With Italy's unemployment rate so high, carrying guests' cases along the road and down the many steep stone steps to the hotel's reception could provide a great opportunity for an out of work weightlifter to be gainfully employed. This is a hotel not a backpacker's lodge.

The breakfast is OK but nothing to get excited about. Get ready to take your place in the queue for the coffee machine. Wi fi is charged for and only available in the small lounge next to reception.

My conclusion on Il Nido is that with some more thought, care and amore it could be wonderful, as is it's a case of unfulfilled potential. And if you have a bad back and heavy cases...

Lerici and San Terenzo are charming former fishing villages sadly now completely overrun with cars. In the words of Joni Mitchell 'They paved paradise and put up a parking lot' on the hillside just outside the villages and you have to take the free bus from the massive hilltop car park down into the villages.

BUT...the village of Tellaro is lovely and when in this area don't miss the boat trip from Lerici to the Cinque Terre villages and back. That is truly amazing.

Room Tip: Make sure on booking you make sure exactly what sort of room you are getting.
