“Not good value for money”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

A family reunion, 10 of us. The chips were probably the worst chips I have ever had, 2 of the meals had to be returned as the kitchen had not followed the instructions we had given the waitress. Glasses were not regularly lifted from the table. The waiting staff were friendly however, but not a place I would recommend.

“Good enough”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Wish there was a 'good' rating since 'average' sounds insulting, but I wouldn't class the food as 'very good'. We called in after asking a local for suggestions, having time to kill in the area between events, and no point returning home.

It was certainly value for the price. Scampi was battered, which is very rare these days, and very nice, though just a TINY bit on the mushy side. Lovely garlic chips, nice salad garnish. My wife had the honey-glaze gammon, and her only gripe was it could do with more sauce, which the waiter welcomed as he said feedback can only help them improve. Positive attitude to constructive criticism. Service was good, too.

“Top class food and service.”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

10 of us descended on this restaurant one a fairly busy Sunday evening, the staff were excellent, made a table up for us to be together, The food was excellent the service was superb in fact we unanimously though it was first class.
When on route to the airport it is convenient, good value, and clean!

“Sunday 4th May 2014 meal”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

It had been a number of years since I had last visiting Ellie Mays, after booking a family pub diner for 5 I happened to look up the reviews and started to feel dread as all of them seem bad!

Anyhow we arrived early and were greeted by a lovely young English lad who showed us to our table and handed us our menus and also took our drink orders, plenty of choice on the menu for a pub meal downstairs.

2 of us got a steak, 1 of us the duck, 1 a burger and 1 the fish supper.

Lets just say don't be put of by the reviews the meal was lovely and we all cleared our plates and ordered puddings. The chocolate cake was a must try with a lovely surprise of caramel through it.

If its pub grub your after then this place is perfect :-)
