“Very relaxing stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 November 2013

Anyone trying to assess whether to stay at the Diamond Deluxe from Tripadvisor will probably be left somewhat bemused given the range of verdicts from previous guests. My advise is to look at the overall ratings with its heavy bias towards 5 stars which in my experience is completely justified.

My wife and I stayed on a week's full board basis from the 16th October and we had a really relaxing and lovely time. I'm not going to detail about the excellent food, spotlessly cleaning rooms and the hard working and friendly staff because it's all be said before.

You will note that the hotel (through their customer relations lady....who I spoke to briefly about out excellent stay) more often than not responds to reviews placed on this site. This to me is a sign that the hotel do care about the experiences of their guests and are seeking to refine the customer experience whenever they can.

If I had to have a criticism it's not about the hotel at all but Kos Town.....yes the harbour area is to be visited for it's history and charm but some of the approaching area when walking from the hotel appears run down with businesses looking in a very sorry state. I guess it's a reflection of the Greek economy on the island.

My advise is to book your stay at the Hotel Diamond Deluxe, relax and unwind......you will not regret it.

Room Tip: It's a long walk into Kos Town....the hotel will arrange bikes for you at very reasonable cost w...

Please be careful when booking rooms, We booked a Junior deluxe suite also asked for pool front with sunny terrace we got neither. What we got was a Double room facing the road with no sunshine, if you look on the website there is no description of a Junior deluxe suite? The room was looking tired in places especially the floor on the plus side the bed was very comfortable although the room was cleaned every day we did get ants but maybe this was due to the climate.
We went in September and the weather was very good but the pools still freezing cold, its no good having beautiful pools that you cant swim in, even the indoor pool was freezing and you had to pay 10eu to use it not good for a 5 star hotel. The food was good and the restaurant staff professional and polite. The hotel lacked atmosphere the bar was always quite due to the high prices, you do expect hotel drinks to be more expensive but they were a bit over the top, also they had a Greek night that we looked forward to but all you got was Greek food no Greek dancing not even the music so a bit disappointing. We saved hard for this holiday and it wasn't cheap as it was for a special occasion and although the hotel looks beautiful we have had better at 3/4 star hotels. We stayed in kardemna at the aegan village hotel on our last night due to our flight being overbooked and found this hotel to be better although its a 4 star.
If you are looking for a quite peaceful holiday then maybe this is for you but as I said the pools are very cold maybe if they heated at least one it would be acceptable. Kos town is nice and lots of people hire bikes to get about although the hotel is on the windy side of the island.

Room Tip: Double check paperwork, but still don't think it would make any difference

We chose the Diamond Deluxe for a relaxing break in October, and it was perfect for what we were looking for. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The meals were buffets with a huge and delicious selection.
The drinks were a bit pricey, and you have to pay extra for some of the facilities such as the gym, sauna and to have the indoor pool heated, but I guess that's to be expected. We had some treatments in the spa which were lovely, and very reasonable. There's a tennis court, and you can borrow rackets from reception. The hotel also arranged for us to hire bikes which was a fun way to explore Kos town.
All the staff were fantastic, really friendly and professional.
A great place to go for some rest and relaxation.

Having booked into the Hotel for one night (most hotels were closed/closing) prior to our flight home. Diamond Delux told me they were open and there would be no problem at the time of booking. I had arranged an early check in and a late check out - it really was a disaster. The owners child was having their wedding there - fine but - not at the expense of the guests experience! Firstly I was told at reception, there were no late check outs because of the wedding - I thrust the email confirming my arrangement so they agreed. The room was good, but with some ants, beds adequate, TV tiny, nice shower and view though. The meal that evening was as expected for a buffet arrangement. The next day- was not acceptable, no information was forthcoming about the effect on the guests due to the wedding - suddenly we couldnt get through reception as table and chairs were being laid out. We couldnt easily get to the dining room for breakfast as sofas from reception had been moved into the corridor. Breakfast was fine. We begin to try to enjoy our last day of sun by the pool, then another tourist informs us, there will be no food after 2pm - not even from the bar - we didnt fly until 10pm! (Daughter diabetic so not ideal) No shops or cafes nearby and no buses to get into Kos Town (end of season). We can have lunch until 2 (we had just finished breakfast at 10.30!) . I dont object to the wedding, and it was quite fun to watch the ceremony but I do object to being totally forgotten, ignored and made to feel I was "in the way" - They shouldnt of accepted my booking! If I hadnt of booked out early, I wouldnt of been able to checked out during the wedding breakfast happening in the hotel!

I do have to compliment the bell boy who was extremely polite and tried very hard to be helpful unlike the receptionist whose favourite word was "No". Also the barman who was extremely good at his job and made the stay as enjoyable as he could.

Not a good experience at all - If you want your own hotel to be used as your wedding venue by your family and friends, thats fine, but dont take paying guests at the same time!

This is a beautiful hotel, right on the beach (seperated by a road) and is only a short bus ride into Kos town (which run every half hour and is very easy to use.) The hotel has been recently rebuilt and the main building as well as the room buildings are to a high stadard (although there is alot of "minimal" white in the rooms consequently this does show scuff marks easily. Our room also had an issue with ants from before we had even unpacked - result: we were given a can of spray. Sadly, the wind was a bit keen for the first few days and so being right on the beach here, it can suffer a little. However being such a beautiful complex around lots of swimming pools, it was a shame no one used them as there were so cold. In the entire week, even when it warmed up, the pool was freezing. We swam in the sea and it was much warmer - is a shame they cannot heat the water a little. The hotel reception has free wi-fi (if the connection holds!) and in the rooms there are computers where you can access the internet but there is no wi-fi in the rooms. (And to be fair , our room internet connection was not always that great.) These are the only gripes, the rest of this hotel was perfect. The food was always good with lots of variety and theme nights to showcase different foods. Yes, like all hotels similar to this, after a week is does feel a little samey, however with food of such a high standard, it was hardly noticable. After dinner you may wish to have a drink or two in the bar - here you will meet an absolute delight, the wonderful Dimitiris (helped by lovely Asta). Always happy, professional and very helpful - he is one of those poeple that are a true asset to wherever they may work. (Be warned, most of the bar bills are just added to your room, so you can have a large bill when you check out!) I would love to return here - perhaps I would like to choose my room (we were expecting a room with our own patio area straight onto the pool - it would appear this was not quite the case and anyone can lie on the beds in front of your room......besides, it was always in the shade anyway!)

Room Tip: Not all of the rooms get the sun, ask at reception first.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013 via mobile

Firstly, I am completely shocked at some of the reviews on this site for this hotel!! Myself, my husband and our one year old stayed at the Diamond Deluxe for a week on Oct 16th.

We had a great week. I stay in many very high quality hotels for work and this did not disappoint. The hotel staff thoughtfully put us into a room with a private terrace (room 607) so we had room for our little one to play outside, and it was right by the pool, though set back slightly. The room had a round super king size bed in it, and all the furniture was white and gold. It was very clean and had a large fridge for our use. Yes a couple of bits of furniture looked slightly chipped but its the end of the season so you expect some wear and tear. Thats one reason why you pay less to visit at this time of year! The bathroom was lovely, great jacuzzi bathtub too which our son loved! The only downside was no drawers in the room which would be a welcome addition.

Yes the pool was a bit cold but both my husband and I swam in it a couple of times as it was so sunny we needed to cool off... It's cold because its massive so doesn't retain heat and its October!! The sea was much warmer, on the hotel's private beach. We saw no litter there, the sand is a bit grey as its a volcanic island but it was fine... The sea is a bit choppy this side of the island but our advice if you come here in low season is to hire a car for your stay and drive over to kefalos or paradise beach where the sea is a lot calmer. It's also well worth a day at therme where there is a natural volcanic spa bubbling in the sea so the sea is piping hot and its totally free to visit...

The staff are what make this hotel. Asta at the bar was great! Mikalos and Mario in the restaurant were also brilliant, so friendly, and made our son laugh every mealtime.

The food is also fab. Delicious breakfast with countless pastries, omelettes, waffles, French toast and pancakes being made to order, fresh breads, fresh fruit, smoothies, cheeses, cereals and jams or a full English if you really want it. Lunch is a lighter buffet than dinner but we still managed to eat tonnes of delicious pasta and Greek salad and there was still a choice of five or six freshly made desserts including cheesecake and baklava. Dinner was a real treat, a mix of hot and cold dishes including traditional Greek dishes to try every night. Our son is allergic to dairy and there were plenty of options for him to eat too.

The location of the hotel is fine, on the edge of Kos Town, right on the beach with lovely sunsets... We wouldn't have liked to be any nearer town as it was quiet and when we wanted to pop in there was a bus stop just outside and its less than 2 euro for a 10 minute ride right to the harbour. There's plenty of room for pushchairs on the bus too.

I cannot believe people have written the reviews that they have and stayed at the hotel the same week as us! The only negative we had was that we had to pay 10 euro for the indoor pool to be heated... We only bothered one day as just swam in the sea the rest, or swam outside.

Overall we had a brilliant stay, we will definitely return and would recommend it to anyone!

Quite honestly, having read some of the previous reviews, I'm not sure that we were in the same hotel. We have nothing but good things to say about our week's stay.
Yes, the pool is chilly, but it IS the end of October - what do people expect? Despite this, lots of people swam while we were there - even first thing in the morning.
Yes, the drinks are expensive, but no more so than can be expected in any good hotel anywhere in the world.
We arrived late on 17th October expecting to have missed dinner, but a very nice plated meal was waiting for us in our room. We were travel weary and rang for a bottle of wine to have with our meal. It arrived within 3 minutes!!
The room (509) was cosy, spotless, good sized with coffee table, chair and sofa and a large very comfortable bed (great thick soft mattress cover!). The large kettle and tea bags were very much appreciated - if you prefer coffee take a little jar or buy sachets of Nescafe (20cents each) as we did in the little supermarket along the road. There was an empty fridge (except for a complimentary large bottle of water) to keep our drinks chilled during our stay.
Bedding and towels were changed every day and the lovely toileteries were stocked up daily. There were 2 bathrobes each.
The food was good, in our opinion, and we feel we know food - a nutritionist and a food technologist. Yes, there was a slight sameness, but this was due to the very large choice and the fact that it was buffet. You do not need to put a bit of everything on your plate at every meal otherwise you will be eating the same food!! There was always a very good selection of salads, meat dishes, fantastic fish dishes, cheeses as well as roasts and grills. The special Sunday night meal was absolutely fantastic and the Greek night was pretty good too. The desserts were the best I've eaten in any part of Greece or the Greek islands.
We were full board and the lunch was a bit limited, but quite frankly after the enormous breakfast where there was just about anything you could wish for, we needed little or nothing.
I suppose our only quibble was the quality of breakfast orange juice but the quality ot the fresh oranges more than made up for that.
All the staff were delightful - nothing was too much trouble. They seemed to have an ability to remember our room number, how we liked our coffee and our usual drinks.
We had a very late flight home and we were very grateful for the use of our room until we left. This was 20 euros but well worth it and it included dinner! - it added another day to our holiday, but of course the hotel was not full at this time of year. I guess it would be impossible in high season.
The whole hotel is spotless and white and gold so it gives a very light airy clean feeling.
Please do not be put off by negative reviewing. JUST GO. It's a lovely modern hotel with delightful people working there - you will have a splendid holiday - provided you want a beautifully quiet time, exquisit views and in lovely surroundings.
