My husband and I visited this lovely hotel the first two weeks of September. Our arrival was dealt with swiftly and efficiently by the rep from Classic Collections who organised our private taxi transfer to the hotel. We arrived and our luggage was taken swiftly to our room without us even having to touch it. Reception staff gave a warm and friendly greeting and we were offered a complimentary drink. We followed this with another couple of drinks which we were happy to pay for being seated in a very contemporary comfortable bar area. It was very windy while we were on holiday and we had been told that this was fairly unusual - not the wind but the strength of it. However, this was a warm breeze all the time which in fact was quite pleasant. Yes, the pool is chilly but when the temperature is between 30 and 35 it is actually very refreshing to dip into a nice cool pool. Absolutely no problem with the loungers/umbrellas or pool side at all. Everything was really well presented, clean and well serviced. Towels were always plentiful and there was never an issue with a lack of sunbeds. Staff were all exceptional from the manager down to the cleaning staff who were always willing and happy to help. The breakfasts were very well organised and there was a very good selection of foodstuffs. We attended the evening barbecue which due to the wind had to be held in the restaurant rather than the pool area but the food was all of very good standard and the live music was very good in the background and very good value. Lunch time menu is a little limited but fine if you just want something to take the edge off. We didn't visit the beach area, again due to the wind, but we did walk the length of the beach from Kos Village back to the hotel one evening and this was a lovely walk. The walk from the hotel to Kos town takes about 20 minutes and unless you are really unfit or disabled is an easy stroll. You do have to watch out for the cyclists and it does get a little narrow on a few occasions but nothing too much to worry about. There are several bars where you can stop for a quick drink en route if you feel the need. It is a shame that there are several bars which have closed down but I guess this is going to be seen all over the Greek islands and there isn't really much anyone can do about it. The hotel doesn't have a great outlook unfortunately due to a new hotel being built next door (we weren't bothered by noise at all during our stay although we did see a couple of chaps working and there was one piece of heavy duty machinery working). The hotel also looks out onto some open wasteland which has a few goats grazing and this does look a little messy.
We unfortunately had to cut our holiday short due to a problem at home and we can't thank the hotel staff enough for all their help and sympathy. They gave us all the flight information we could have needed and organised a cab to pick us up at 4am to get us to Kos airport. They called us to make sure we had got to the airport safely and I would like to pass on huge thanks to Maria and everyone else involved for their wonderful and caring service. We returned to England after 9 nights instead of the 14 we had planned for so we did have quite a few trips and entertainment that we would have liked to have tried both in the hotel and on the island itself but I am sure we will return to Kos and will certainly return to Aqua Blu in the future. Thanks again for the wonderful assistance you gave my husband and I it was very much appreciated.
