“A Wonderful Relaxing Garden Oasis”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

I spent 10 days in Gaia Garden at the beginning of July and it didn't fail to live up to the great and very much deserved positive reviews. The staff are extremely friendly and this really gives the hotel the most wonderful atmosphere which is far from a large chain type experience and this is exactly what we were looking for. We did initially have a room close to the bar and as per other reviews it was a little noisy (I had my mum and daughter in my room, but the music stops at 12 so may not be a problem for other guests) but we were soon re-located to a room right at the back near the tennis courts which was lovely and peaceful - we were also advised that we could have phoned the bar from the room to ask them to turn the music down.
I am a foodie and enjoy good food and this was definitely one of the highlights of the stay. There are loads of different salads and a very good choice of vegetable/meat/fish dishes which always included lots of traditional Greek food. We knew from previous reviews about the drinks and the teenagers were happy with the beer and my mum and I who enjoy good white wine were very happy with the free wine which was very drinkable.
Our party included two teenagers - they loved sunbathing on the roof, the gym, the Jacuzzi, the food and beer and the 20 min walk into Kos town. My daughter is 4 and the small pool kept her happy the whole holiday, she made lots of European friends and it was like a little kids club - the staff really make a fuss of all of the children which is lovely.
This is my first Trip Adviser review and this hotel totally merited my time to share what an amazing holiday we all had (3 generations loved it!) and to recommend a stay!!!!

Room Tip: As per review rooms nearer the tennis courts are very peaceful

Last minute booking and not disappointed. Breakfast great including fresh waffles. We stayed 2 nights and loved it. Need to hire bikes really to get to town centre. Pool clean. Staff friendly and very polite. There is a lovely playground for younger children. Could do with perhaps more table tennis and sun beds around the pool. Booking of sunbeds by placing towels on them should not be tolerated though.

Lovely hotel not too far from Kos town, would suggest hiring a bike. Was very clean and we had a good sized room. Breakfast was very varied and had a large selection for all tastes, you can even make waffles! Only down side was the beds by the pool seem to get reserved early by towels and they do not provide fresh juice during breakfast. Very helpful happy staff.

Just returned from a week at the gaia-garden & wish it had been two..The staff go out there way to
make your time with them great. The food is freshly cooked & they cater for all tastes there's always lots to chooses from. You are only 10 minutes walk from the beach or 20 minutes walk from Kos town. we hired bikes a cheap & great way to get around. It's a shame there are not more sun beds or more policing to stop people leaving towels on them & going out for the day.there could be more choice of alcoholic drinks on the all inclusive menu....BUT ALL IN ALL A GREAT LITTLE HOTEL........

Room Tip: All rooms are well fitted out..

Pro: Great staff, variety and quality of food, lovely location, reasonable walk to Kos, well cared for hotel.
Con: Smoking allowed in the dining area, need more sunbeds - people place towels very early in the morning and the beds can be empty for up to half a day with a towel on it.

Room Tip: Set alarm before 6.00 to get a bed if there are more than two of you.

Dear Guest,

Greetings from Gaia Garden Hotel,
We would like to thank you very much for sharing your experience during your vacations at Gaia Garden Hotel. Regarding your comment for the sun loungers, we would like to inform you that we have taken the necessary measures to avoid any discomfort may caused, placing signs around the pool, mentioning that the towels will be removed from the sunbed if they are not occupied for more than 30 minutes. We would like also to announce that as a hotel we signed the petition against reserving sun loungers.

Thank you once again for your comment and we hope that holidaymakers will take this matter into consideration.

With Kind Regards,
Emmanuel Christodoulides

We loved Gaia Garden!
Our room was pretty big and spotless with everything you need. Comfortable beds with really comfy pillows- better than my ones at home! The pool area was very nice but if going at a busy time i.e. school holidays I would suggest perhaps not big enough for all guests as on one day we slept in until 10am & found ALL the sunbeds were reserved (only 2 or 3 actually had people sat on them). This turned out ok as we cycled down to Lambi beach & came back at 1pm to find a few beds available.
The food in the hotel was great in my opinion. The breakfast (7.30-10) consisted of hams, cheeses, breads, lots of different preserves, sausages, bacon, beans, eggs (fried, scrambled & omelettes), cereals, FRESH WAFFLES-my fave!, yoghurts & fruit. What more would you want?!
The lunch (1-2) was salad, breads and a few dishes of various meat & vegetables. All very tasty.
At 5pm they had tea, coffee & cake time which was nice. This consisted of some sponge cakes & biscuits, a selection of teas and coffee.
Dinner (7-9) was different every one of our 7 nights! There was always chips & pasta & a nice salad bar. The dishes each night included beef stifado(YUM), moussaka, stuffed pork loin, beef curry, stuffed peppers, lasagne. There was really something for everyone I think.
The only disappointment with the food was the desserts as there wasn't much choice & it was very similar every night although I do appreciate that some countries don't do puddings like us Brits do!
The alcoholic drinks on offer were limited to white wine, red wine, beer, ouzo & brandy. These were fine but not the best. We went out for drinks on a few occasions but to be honest I couldn't sit in the same bar every night anyway even if there had been a better selection. Mms hen we purchased drink off the all inclusive list they were very reasonably priced in comparison to the bars in Kos Town. I think a few euros for a spirit & mixer with generous measures.

The staff were helpful, friendly & polite and would do there best to accommodate everybody's needs.

Highly recommend hiring bicycles as we had so much fun cycling around the island. There is a place directly opposite the hotel which charges €2.50 per day! Amazing!

There is a great little supermarket just next door to the hotel selling cigarettes, chilled drinks, snacks, toiletries & English magazines. Also at the end of the road (2 minute walk) there is a big supermarket with everything you could need.

Kos Town is a 5 minute cycle away & full of restaurants, bars, shops & a nice harbour. You will also find Hippocrates square there and other sights. By far the best day of our holiday was spent on a boat trip from Kos Town harbour (Katerina 3 Island Cruise) which I will review seperately.

All in all we had a really great time at Gaia Garden & would highly recommend to anyone.

We have just returned from a ten day holiday from this hotel and while it is nice, we feel it is over-rated.

Positives -
- good location
- lovely grounds which are well attended
- public areas and swimming pool area kept very clean
- good food in a lovely scenic restaurant
- helpful, polite staff
- rooms are cleaned very well

Negatives
- all inclusive consists of watered down beer and headache inducing local wine. No local spirits available
- rooms are very basic and small and need updating
- you had to pay for beach towels (normally it's a deposit at other all inclusive resorts) and you are cheaper actually buying one in the nearby supermarket if you haven't taken your own
- not enough sun loungers for the hotel. If you go to the pool later than 9.15am, you will not get a sun lounger

Some reviews say this hotel could be a four star. It is definitely a three star.
Although we had a nice time, we shall not be returning to this hotel and we would not recommend it to other travellers.

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your feedback about your holidays in Gaia Garden Hotel.
Regarding the All Inclusive option, we would like to inform you that you booked a 3 star hotel with a normal All Inclusive Program and this is written and advertised in all tour operators we cooperate as well as our website.
As for the style of the rooms, our hotel is a very traditional one, which means every time we rennovate our rooms and furnitures we try to combine them with the place and the style.
Lastly, the beach towels are rented for 3 Euros per week, which is an extra service of a 3 star Hotel.

Thank you once again for choosing us for your stay and we truly wish you a nice summer!

With Kind Regards,
Emmanuel Christodoulides
