Tossal d´Altea has renovated spacious rooms with beautiful wooden floors. The bathrooms are nice. The location is on the outskirts of Altea and peacefully placed on a hill close to the historic centre. The pool area is relaxing and nice, surrounded by flowers and climbers. The food was very nice and it was no problem at all to arrange a three course delicous vegetarian meal. The service and hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. A great place to stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terrace on the top floor.

The gardens, pool, and rooms at this hotel all beg for you to relax. If you don't feel totally peaceful and content while you are here then something is wrong. We enjoyed our stay here immensely. The breakfast and restaurant were delicious. The service was great. Hotel staff were extremely friendly. Location was good. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Tossal d'Altea is on the outskirts of town in a very quiet location, but an easy walk to the historic centre, and a little way further brings you to the beach. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Service is friendly and attentive.

Breakfast is simply superb with warm homemade cakes every morning, an extensive buffet, and eggs fried in olive oil piping hot from the kitchen.

The hotel is the venue a few times a year for yoga holidays courtesy of Yoga Breaks in Spain, so you can practice your asanas, do a little meditation, enjoy therapies and massage, and eat delicious vegetarian food. I enjoyed it so much last time, I've booked again for November 2012.

Room Tip: Rooms either have shower or bath, so if you have a preference, you need to ask when you book.

If you prefer to stay at a hotel off the beaten track, offering a personalized service and authentic atmosphere, Tossal d’Altea is the place to be. The owners of Tossal d’Altea really make you feel that you are a guest at their property. Personally I consider the hotel rather an upper class B&B than a 4-star hotel but this is meant in a positive way. I stayed at a standard room which had a beautiful bathroom, but I became aware during my stay that there were much nicer rooms at the hotel. Meals were served at the garden terrace offering breathtaking views of the sierra. The buffet breakfast was OK. Although there was little variety the proprietress took great pride in the wonderful cakes she baked for breakfast and I can assure you these were absolutely heavenly. I also enjoyed one of the best paellas ever at the hotel’s restaurant. As customary in Spain, soundproof walls are a problem, it was not any different at Tossal d’Altea. A quite annoying situation when inconsiderate guests return early in the morning from a night out or when young children start crying in the middle of the night. Although it is not strictly necessary to have a car, I would recommend to have one at your disposal when staying at Tossal d’Altea. Walking back to the hotel after dark can be hazardous since there is no street-lighting the last 300-400 meters to the property. Tossal d’Altea is excellent value for money and I would certainly consider to again stay at the hotel during my next trip to Altea.

I did not expect much and booked this hotel for a stop over on a long drive. What a positive surprise this was, then! Close to the busy coastal towns and awful Benidorm, Tossal d'Altea is just two or three kilometers off the coast in the hills, but feels very secluded. The rooms are spacious and airy, decorated with taste. The family owning it runs it with pride and dedication. The most positive surprise has been dinner. While the day before I paid a small fortune for a wanna-be gourmet meal in France, here I got an absolutely brilliant three course meal with wine and water for 25 Euro. Light, fresh country-style cooking at it's best, served by the mother of the house on a nice and quiet terrace with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. I could have easily stayed on for a few days of relaxing, but had to rush on... The only downfall of the hotel is that GPSs, even Garmin, accept the address but don't find it. I therefore add the coordinates: N 38*36.001' W 000*03.722'
