“Best meal in SE Spain!”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

We've lived in and around Altea since 2008 and have visited numerous restaurants all over the area. I've his most of the top rated ones in Altea, Benidorm, Finestrat, Albir, etc...and we always say that nothing compares to the Opera! Yes the food is the best but it's more than just that...the location on the beach, the staff, the owner and his wife, and the eclectic patrons. Save room for the desserts as they are world class like everything else! Do yourself a favor and go so you too can compare the rest of Spain to the Opera. Closed Mondays and the rest of the days at 8 pm which is fine for me as I'm in bed before 10!

“Afternoon delight”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

I had visited Cafe Opera in May of this year on my own and was very impressed so on returning to Altea with my wife Karen I just had to come back with her. We had lunch there 3 times in 11 days and thoroughly enjoyed every one. The menu is mostly based on salads but you can have a sandwich or bocadillo too. The waitresses are all lovely pleasant girls and give a prompt service with a smile.

All the dishes are named after composers or shows and I had a miss Saigon. Thai chicken with a salad and fresh crusty bread. Karen had a Schubert salad with beef strips and pasta ...delicious she said. The only downside for us ( and I hate to have to mention it as the place is perfect otherwise) was that the wine was never properly chilled, it was cool but just not cool enough for Cava or white although it was served in an ice bucket with cold water and one or two cubes.

Anyway, Cafe Opera is a must visit if you are ever in Altea as most of the other reviewers have borne out. You will not be disappointed !!!

“Restaurant with 'hits'”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

Every 'composition' within this Cafe is a 'hit'. Bach, Schubert, Beethoven, they are all there. Most compositions are based on a fine base of pasta with delicious salad and tasteful combinations of various meat and fruit. Service is allways friendly and attentive and make you feel welcome from the minute you enter till the friendly goodbye when you leave.
Allways looking forward to visit this place for a delicious lunch or just for coffee.

“A Must Do”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

We visited this Restaurant without booking but the Owner found us a table anyway. He is very charming as are his staff. My Husband re-booked for my Birthday lunch. When we arrived on my Birthday we were greated as old friends and shown to our original table which was reserved for us. The meals are amazing and especially the salad lunches, they bring a new meaning to the word salad.
If you are in beautiful Altea you really must visit this wonderful Restaurant.
