Just got back from 2nd trip to Alpenrose and found it great. Knowing the hotel and area a bit better we got more out of the trip this time with our 6 year old daughter.

We took the local Z- ticket which gives you 7 day access to buses, a variety of attractions, cable cars (including 1x Zugspitze trip), swimming pools, cycle rides and much more. We love the Bibervier with its chair lift, luge run and monster rollers. My daughter loves the "Monster rollers" which are like enormous oversized scooters designed for going downhill. Great fun. The luge is about 1 Km long and good fun for children - we did it 6 or more times! note, the luge does not run due to safety when wet. The hotel pool is perfect for young children but older children may want a bit more. Another tip, the open air pool at Lermoos is free with a Z ticket, 5 mins walk away and has stunning views and good water slides for the kids.

I found the staff in Alpenrose hugely friendly - be it our daily chat with the cleaner or the restaurant staff. The mini club staff are the highlight though and they go out of their way to have fun with the kids. I appreciate the specific things they do for individual childrens. I also appreciate that they try to add variety to the programme which during our stay included a theatre group performing a pirate show, a magician and a treasure hunt in the local park.

We used the bikes more this time which are free in the Hotel and you just take as and when you need. They have a variety of bikes, trailers and tandems to suit different family needs. It is really easy to bob out of the hotel to the variety of dedicated cycle paths to the likes Ehrwald or Bibervier. We particularly like cycling to the mini golf in Ehrwald. For young families the paths are great.

We flew into Munich and hired a car. The car rental at MUC airport is easy and it then takes c. 2 hours to get to Lermoos. A pretty easy trip but there can be heavy traffic at peak times. We find having a car useful in the area although last time managed without and simply used the buses which run daily and frequently. Alpenrose is a 5 min walk from the Lermoos station although trains from garmisch are not very frequent.

We find the food very good and enjoy it. As others have commented the childrens buffet means they can help themselves while you eat. We also try to eat outside when we can but you need to remember to request this at breakfast if you want it!

Our thoughts:
* We had recommendations from a handful friends (with kids) to got there, and so we had very high expectations. They were met.
* Very well thought hotel with plenty and plenty of children's activities and facilities. Difficult to imagine what could have been added.
* We paid approximately EUR 300 per night for one child and two adults. We booked thinking it was rather expensive but left the hotel thinking it was in actual fact very good value.
* The meals alone - we thought the food was excellent - must have cost at least EUR 150 per night.
* Only Minor Criticisms:
1. Pre-arrival, when booking the hotel: One is not able to book oneself on the hotel website (not ideal) and yet the website gives the appearance that one can book, so I spent an hour trying.
2. During stay: The hotel WIFI connection needed frequent re-enty of access codes, sometimes in mid-session.
Overall experience very favourable. We intend to go back.

This hotel is great if you have young families - lots of high chairs, pram access, playgrounds and swimming pools. Food above average buffet style with a good attempt to allow adults to dine in peace by offering childcare activities during dinner time. Bedroom a little dated but kept very clean. Staff are friendly and do everything you would expect them too for the price. Wasabi bar peanuts are highly addictive!

We visited the hotel on various recommendations from friends but were not at all that impressed. Well positives first:
- kids club is wonderful and the staff was always friendly and happy to talk to you
- rooms are nice
- childrens playground is nice
- sauna are is nice

Not so positive:
- there is no presence of the owners or manager. You feel like this hotel is run by some ghosts. All the staff (appart of kids club) looks unhappy, they do not say hello to you and they really do not want to interact with you. There is not enought staff in the restaurant/bar area. It lack the dynamic as it is really not properly managed.
- the swimming pool is very small and very dated and looked like it was dirty but it was jut very used.
- the food is OK but not super wonderful. I hated that deserts were always made using not a proper cream and butter but all those vegetable based products and it did not taste nice
- the quality of the coffee is horrible for such an establishment
- the gym is a joke. There is one running machine that was always busy.
- the classes in a really nice aerobic room were boring and the instructor was not good.
- and the quality of pillows is horrible - not feathers but the artificial stuff that clogs on one side

Look, overall it was fine but no way it was as superlative as everyone raves about. Kids are happy but you as an adult will be bored and you will find the swimming pool area anoying. I am probably too experience traveller and can compare with like Cavalinno Bianco and Bar/Lowe in Serfaus.

We have just returned from our 4th stay in the Alpenrose Lermoos and although it is not cheap, it is excellent. The food is fantastic, the facilities are brilliant and the kids club for smaller children is great.

Room Tip: Aqua Suite but you'll pay!

We were in the hotel at the end of February 2013, for 5 days.
The whole family (2 adults and 3 Kids: 8,6,5) enjoyed the stay and the organized activities: it was difficult to leave!
We have experienced a well-organized and clean Hotel.
The service was always kind and helpful.

We visited this hotel for a long weekend and found it to be fantastic. Our family comprises a 2 1/2 year old and a 6 month old baby. The facilities available at the hotel were fantastic and made packing and travelling so much easier than normal as the hotel provide prams, buggys, steriliser... etc.

The kids club was fantastic and allowed my husband and I to go snowboarding together, treats! The ski area is quite small, but sufficient while the kids are small and we need to stay close. We loved that the main lift is just across the road from the hotel, so it's really easy to come back for the all inclusive lunch.

The pool area is clean and lovely and our toddler really enjoyed the pirate kids pool, which is well thought out including games for the little ones (our daughter loved pressing buttons on the animals that set off the water jets) and slides for both the smaller and older kids.

The sauna and wellness areas were also great and bigger and better than most other places I have been with this kind of area (cenerparcs uk for example).

Back to the kids club... both our kids went to the baby club and enjoyed it there. The baby loved his time with them and our little girl tended to enjoy it more when there were more kids her age around. The facilities are nice and clean with a wide range of toys and staff friendly. As it was a family holiday though we only tended to put the kids in for a morning play and their lunchtime nap. The older club (mini club) put on a skiing lesson which our daughter attended, this was fantastic. The staff were friendly and paitent even when the kids were a little overwhelmed. Activities included skiing, dancing with someone in a penguin costume, snacks and a big rubber ring carousel affair (if you can picture that!). They also have a soft play outside the kids club which our daughter loved. In the summer the playground would be good too. All the arranged activities were for children over 3, but our daughter loves craft and will sit still for an hour and a half to do an activity. It would have been nice if some of the activities were 2 plus or 2 1/2 plus. It felt a little like 2 -3 year olds were forgotten as babies, but though they need a little extra help, they are little girls and boys by that age and our daughter would have loved to be included in some of the activities with the bigger kids. Next year will be fine though and our second will be able to join in a little younger with help from his big sister.

Food wise:
In the restaurant we were given our own table on arrival, which was set up with the high chairs, bibs and maxi cosi (for when the baby was too tired for the high chair) we needed. It was great to know our table was always there and that we wouldn't have to find high chairs for every meal... really great! So often there is a shortage of children's seats.
The children's menu had enough choice and though not spectacularly healthy (in a health food way) the food was varied, contained vegetables each day and always had a pasta option. Deserts were fairly limited in the evening, but we found fruit for our daughter on the cheese buffet. All kids plates, cups and bowls are available, which is good. The kids were given desert forks and tea spoons for cutlery though, which was a real shame. The desert forks are blunt so our daughter had real problems stabbing harder food. It would be so simple to have picked up the cutlery at ikea (for a few euros) when the plates etc were bought and would have made meal times much easier for her.
Baby food - the hotel offer a Hipp menu (which I personally don't like) and fresh food cooked by the kitchen. Our baby eats home-made food at home so we tried to use the kitchen's food, but had to give this up after a couple of days as it was really hit and miss and late when available. Part of the problem was that baby food could only be ordered in the previous time that the kitchen was open, so lunch had to be ordered at breakfast etc. If the earlier open time was missed, then no food could be offered. On arriving at the hotel we knew exactly what times and foods were needed for each day. It would have been much better if this could have been ordered at the beginning of the stay. I would have been happy for the food to have been made fresh and frozen for him, again easing the process. As it was we struggled ordering and had our next days 5pm food forgotten, so swapped to Hipp. This was an issue as our baby didn't really eat it, so we battled with a hungry baby a little.
Grown-up food - We stayed Thursday to Sunday and found the a la carte food exceptional on the Thursday and Friday night. Saturday and Sunday was wasn't quite as good, but still delicious and better than we would expect from an all inclusive hotel. I think guests usually travel Saturday - Saturday, so it seams the food gets better as the week goes on. Lunches were good tasty food and just what you would expect in the mountains. We really enjoyed it and found it a refreshing change to have good food in a hotel while the kids are in bed (there's no shopping around when the kids need to go down in the room at 7pm). Service was always excellent.

The hotel in general is really well designed for kids with a fish tank and a fish pond, a bird cage, rocking toys and lots of play space. Our daughter loved the whole place being really excited just pottering (and sometimes running) around the hotel.

We will certainly be returning, it was a fantastic hotel and made for a lovely family holiday.
