“Perfect Break”
Reviewed 28 March 2013

My fiance and I stayed there 2 weeks ago and were thoroughly impressed.

It was immaculately clean, had a wonderful welcome and the location was perfect for us. It wasn't just any B&B, there were fresh flowers, little chocolate on the pillows and even fruit.

Jan was really friendly from the moment we arrived, and couldn't have been more friendl. Her breakfasts are absolutely delicious, what a cook! She was a lot of fun, we'll miss her until we return, hopefully in the autumn!

Room Tip: We stayed in the double room which had lovely exposed beams and a real cosy feel.

I have recently stayed at the Middlefarm B&B with my husband. We chose this B&B because it looked nice and neat on the website, but it ended up being a complete disappointment. We were shocked by its uncleanliness. We found several cobwebs on the walls, thick layers of dust on the bedside tables and lamps, and balls of fluff under the bed. We counted 7 dead spiders hanging from the walls and ceiling. Even the kettle was disgusting inside.
Also the condition of the shower was questionable. The temperature of the water kept on changing from hot to cold, and the bulb of the shower was continously falling down.
The owner was not very welcoming either.
Considering all these issues, we definitely found this B&B to be overpriced (£70 p.night is far too expensive!!)

The accomodation is in a converted barn building which has been very carefully designed and thought out. There are 2 bed rooms, both en-suite, and all the necessary items to make a person's stay enjoyable have been provided, even down to 'shower caps' for the ladies. There were fresh flowers in the room, bottle drinking water, assorted teas, coffee, drinking chocolate and biscuits and fresh fruit also. The setting is very peaceful and there is a nice 'country' garden, with a table and chairs to sit out, weather permitting. Breakfast consists of local produce and it is well presented. The proprietors, Jan and Terry, are very friendly and helpful people. Whilst it is about a mile and a half south of Crewkerne it is ideally situated for touring Somerset, Devon and Dorset. I fully recommend this accomodation to anyone wishing to stay in a quiet comfortable place.

  • Liked — The thought that had been put in to it by the owners to provide perfect accomodation
  • Disliked — Nothing
