We decided to try something different for my birthday meal a couple of weeks ago and thought we should try Amazing Thai as it was local. We booked a table for 8:30 but we needn't have bothered. On arriving, we were only the second table to be seated and the others were just finishing their meal. No one turned up throughout the rest of our meal. Although busy restaurants aren't necessarily brilliant.....it does give an indication of popularity and also gives a place atmosphere.
There was music in the background, the waiter was attentive (I suppose he didn't have much else to do) and the food was ok. Having never eaten Thai food before, we went for a set menu..it was tasty and freshly cooked but I feel that it missed the mark - it was almost Chinese and almost Indian in parts but never seemed to have its own identity. Perhaps this is what Thai food is like but I have heard people rave about it so I was slightly disappointed. Next time we'll be going back to the Indian restaurant across the road.
