Hotel Garden Vigano
Ranked #1 of 1 Hotels in Albinea

I stayed here during a recent Italian motorcycle holiday and happened upon this place by chance. It really is a best kept secret, but I think this should change as the place is fantastic.

The hotel is situated on approach to Albinea and in fact is just past the white town sign you will pass as you enter the town.

The rooms are large, beautifully decorated and pristinely clean, with cute little touches like the welcome chocolate sweet which you will find on the pillow of your bed.

Hotel Garden Vigano itself is situated in a picturesque courtyard with a forest nearby which has a stream running through. There was also an old church. You could take pictures and sell them as postcards.

The owners are a very warm and friendly couple who will go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need and that you feel very welcome.

I didn't actually want to leave this place and continue my trip around Italy, it was that good.

Outstanding! I will return to Albinea next year to stay here again.

Located just outside a small town in the foothills to the South of Reggio Emilia.....great to explore the cities famous for Parmesean cheese, proscuitto and Balsamic vinegar; the drives to see the ruins of the of castles of Queen Matilda of Tuscany.
The hotel is located in a park and there are walking paths. 28 very comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms, nice buffet breakfast, a bar and coffee bar.....no restaurant but the friendly Italian owner with give you many suggestion to taste very good food.
Restful after a day of exploring the area.

If you're looking for somewhere quiet, clean, friendly and idillic then you cant get much better. Set in parkland the place just oozes tranquility and well-being, how its managed to retain such character and charm I shall never know, but its to be applauded. The staff are friendly and helpful and the owner is the nicest fellow you'll ever meet, spoke perfect English to boot. Room rates offer excellent value for money and just about every room offers (from what i was able to tell) awesome views of either rolling hills, antique churches and villas or unspoilt parkland - yet it manages to be within walking distance of Albinea and a short drive to the city. Keep this to yourselves as its Italy's best kept secret! My photo just doesnt do it justice im afraid but i cant wait to go back and take some more!

To explore the culinary rgion of Emilia Romagna I made my base camp in the town of Albinea, situated just a few kilometres south of the city of Reggio Emilia. I chose the Hotel Garden Viganó, ([--]), because of its location in the gastronomic heart of the region and also due to its peaceful parkland setting.
The hotel is a converted 17th century stable building nestled in the greenery of Parco Fola. A few steps from its front door is Villa Enrichetta, a now unoccupied stately home with its own chapel that overlooks the hotel’s entrance and parking area.
The only sounds you will hear during your stay here are those of distant church bells and the calls of various birds, including the very distinctive cuckoo.
Double rooms are a bargain at approximately Dhs 470, a price that includes a self-service, all you can eat, continental breakfast that, during spring and summer, is served on a sun dappled terrace overlooking the park.
Owner is a well-travelled Italian gentleman who speaks English and is very aimable - he showed us the routes to local attractions and when we appeared unsure he jumped in his car and asked us to follow him there - then introduced us to the owner of either the local winery, cheese making factory or whatever.
I have fond memories of my stay here and some priceless photographs...
