Straight off the boat after a 27 hour crossing, we had booked a couple of nights here to acclimatise. (From the ferry we followed the A8 towards Bilbao and came off at Guarnizo at junction 5, then followed signs to Astillero onto the Calle Prosperidad.) Prosperous it is not, but the Bahía de Boo is easy to find, friendly and the rooms were great, with a well equipped kitchen and good shower. This is not a traditionally beautiful location, but it is very characteristic of industrial northern Spain! There was something comforting about the sound of the train across the marsh early in the morning. We had a REALLY good dinner at La Oliva, further along the calle, and on the same side of the road. Locals eating there, and very good food for 90 euros for five of us. We took a day trip to Bilbao and swam at Oriñón on the way back. A very welcome start to our trip.
