We, (two adults, three kids - 13, 9, & 5 yrs) stayed at the Evi in August for two weeks. We had a two bedroom apartment with a sofa bed for our daughter. The bedrooms were a great size, good wardrobes, drawers etc, loads of room to store cases, kids stuff etc. The sofa bed for the little one was huge!

We had a shower ensuite in one bedroom and a bath ensuite in the other, and yes they are a little small but perfect for all your needs! The apartment was cleaned everyday except Sundays and I mean really clean, it was lovely.
The Kitchen is small but has everything you need, you're on holiday & going out to all the great tavernas, not cooking!

The Aircon we knew about before we went so we were prepared to pay for it, as it had been budgeted for when we saved up! saying that we only needed one aircon unit for the whole apartment (you can have one in each bedroom )as it did the job v well.

Our apartment was ground floor with a little terrace with patio furniture, lovely to sit out on, in the block furthest from the pool, nearest to the sea - you could see to see from the room! Really peaceful.

The pool was excellent, and never too busy, kids loved all the different inflatables you could help yourself to and it was all very well kept and clean too. The pool bar is excellent and the food great and very reasonable prices too.
The BBQ evening was really good, lots of food!
Taz and the team really make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

We absolutely loved the position of the apartments to the beach, it really can't be beaten, a footpath straight down onto a sandy cove of four different beaches. Two little beaches first with sandy parts and pebble parts, then two more with lovely sand. All no trouble to reach. Loads of sunloungers, and one beach has a gorgeous beach taverna at the end, right on the sand! We went there a lot for ice cream/tea/beer!
Take your snorkel and swim over the rocky bits as the fish are amazing! Even saw a little Octopus!! Perfect sandcastle building sand as well as the really soft sand too depending where you choose to sit.

On your way back from the beach there's even a hose by the path so you can wash off the sandy feet, lilo, buckets and spades etc!

Pefkos has loads of Tavernas, we really liked Hellas, Tsambikos and The Artemis Garden. Tsambikos bakery up the hill is really good too. All did lovely vegetarian options for one of us.

We did great day trips with Rhodes Direct Holidays found on the high street, who were really helpful and the trips were very good value.

This was our first family holiday abroad, we really wanted the kids to experience a lovely warm holiday instead of rain! It was lovely and certainly hot, but that was not a problem when you had a beautiful pool to jump in and out of or a lovely blue sea to cool down in and a great clean apartment to return to at the end of the day, with friendly helpful staff on hand nearby too.

We read so many reviews before booking this holiday but are so glad we went for it and booked the Evi, it was such a fantastic holiday; location, pool, cleanliness, lovely staff, great times. Definitely Recommended!

Room Tip: The rooms in the block nearest to the Sea are furthest from the pool and very quiet.

Always say things as I see them and some times pre-warned is pre-armed. Although I was expecting it the rooms are very basically furnished bordering on alot of things needing being replaced. Arriving late and having to fork out for a studio appartment air con and safe for 2 weeks a massive 179 Euros could be a shock to families on a budget. In August I doubt many could do without the air con though.

Right thats the negative bit about Evi, lets be honest no where has everything right.

Fantastic sandy quiet beach to the back of the appartments 200 metres away. Tip take your snorkels you will not regret it. The pool area is great and serves great snacks.

Taz and the 'Gang' are what make the difference, the staff are so much fun and really want you to have a great holiday. Evi Studios Med Bar can depending on whose there be quite a night in its self. BBQ/Karioke night to be recommended. The bar seemed to be open as long as there was someone who wanted serving. So be preapred to creep past the bar on your way back to your room or you will be encouraged in!! :-)

Bars in Pefkos, loads of them, but very little most nights in the way of 'entertainment'. 'Pefkos by Night' to the right of the Evi on Fridays and Sundays had tribute bands so if the Beatles are on, it is very recommended, great night and placed was packed.

Restaurants. On the whole all very good. Most main meals seemed to be E9ish. So for a couple having a shared starter (tip - do this or you will spoil your main meal re portions trust me) 2 main meals, large beer, glass of red and a bottle of water was around E28-32. Our personal favourites were Coralli's (turn left and walk for 7-10 mins, you think there will be nothing there) very friendly, excellent food, can get busy so service can be slower that others but worth the wait. Georges and Spitaki's both very similar, nice location and well presented. Just off a side street within view of the strip is Lambis, very rarely busy downstairs but go up on the terrace, looks basic but food is superb.

Positive point of note - I have never been on a holiday any where there have been so many return visitors to a place. Some on numerous occassions. Many who could not get into Evi as it was full or by design were still regular visitors to see Taz and crew to be in their company which must say something in anyones money. We are very likely at some stage to return.

Tip - In August, there were no mozzies at all, it was to damn hot!! No still water anywhere nearby.

Just back from 2wks in Pefkos. Evi apartments basic.3 adults in 2bed apartment, on ground floor. Air Con is dearest there is at 258euros (which due to the exchange rate is really around £250) takes quite a chunk out your holiday money as you can't do without it. Was advised after the fact that Evi are the one of the dearest chargers for air con. Also the set up of one room meant there was a wardrobe directly under the aircon thing on wall so really we weren't getting anything from that one. Other fact that was annoying was that as they had sensors on EVERY window/balcony door in the place you couldn't open any windows/doors or the aircon would go off in both rooms. Didn't really see the need for that. Had to get fan to try and cool down the 'kitchen' area. No room for just hanging out in apartment other than balcony. Could really do with a TV or radio. There was a socket and aerial point in ceiling of one room so they must've had them in as some point. Bathrooms clean enough however no shower curtain in one bathroom meant water went everywhere, and the other shower didn't have a hook to attached it to the wall. Pool area was fine, clean and enough seating for people. Best thing was the 2min walk down to the wee beach area. Really nice and the only saving grace about staying in Evi (although the beach isn't anything to do with them anyway). Pefkos nice enough, lots of restaurants/bars, short taxi ride to Lindos (lovely) and you can get to Rhodes easy enough. We booked a trip to Rhodes through Rhodes Direct Holidays, you see the boards advertising loads of things to do. Woman in office is English and trip was really good. If I was to go back to Pefkos I would not be staying in Evi again.

Room Tip: don't take a ground floor room.

Where to start?

This was a family holiday with myself, my wife and our 16 year old daughter and as we love Greece we were really looking forward to this holiday and were not disappointed.

Rhodes seems to cater very well for the UK tourist and most other nationalities as well it seems, however Pefko's is definitely a laid back location compared with, say Faliraki, which is a good thing in my opinion.

We arrived in the early hours but the bar was in full swing and we were welcomed by Taz, who showed us to our apartment and sorted out the air con and safe for us. We were in block 3 and initially we were worried about how far we were from the pool but it was more than ok when we found out we were a few steps from a small beach and the sea.

Some have commented that the air con is expensive but it wasn't that much more than I paid back in 2005 on Crete so it seemed ok to me.

Our time at Evi and the Med Bar was perfect with Taz and his team (Heather, Tom, Yannis and Eddie) looking after us for the whole two week stay.

Having stayed on a few Greek Islands over the years we do like traditional food (my daughter had a craving for rabbit stifado as soon as we arrived) and I have to say that although the restaurants in Pefkos were good they weren't the best we have visited. Saying that the vast majority served good food and hefty portions and a special mention has to go out to Coralli, fantastic food but your portions are just too big!

We hired a car for three days over our middle weekend and toured some of the Island and would recommend that you do this if you have a chance. Visit the valley of the butterflies if you are there at the right time of year. Also drive up the Agean coast and just take in the colour of the sea.

Drive through as many little villages as you can and this is where you will find the best taverna's, if, like us, you crave traditional food.

All in all a fantastic stay, even a few tears were shed when we left

Would I recommend this to a friend? yes but only if I had got a holiday booked first as the rooms go quick

Will I be going back? You bet I am :-)

We visited Evi studios in July this year and had the perfect 2 week break. The hotel was easy to find and close to shops and the strip of bars and restaurants. The bar was great with snacks, great food and cocktails. The staff made our stay relaxing and they were all really helpful and friendly. Taz the owner couldn't do enough and all the guests seemed to think the same! The apartments were a good size with all necessities. The apartments in block C where we stayed were really close to the beach, which was quiet and relaxing, however quite rocky! The restaurants and bars in Pefkos were all decent prices and there was plenty of choice. With Thomson we went on 4 excursions which dropped you off right outside Evi Studios. The BBQ and Quiz nights and Med Bar were really good fun and we even won the quiz! getting a bottle of champagne and honey rum. Service here was fantastic! We hope to return in the near future :)

Evi studios and apartments are in a perfect location - right above the best beach in Pefkos; just on the edge of ‘the strip’ of shops, restaurants and bars ......but just far enough away to escape most of the nightlife noise of the resort. Accommodation is spread over 3 separate blocks. Block A - next to the ’Med’ bar and pool - seems to be the studios. Newer blocks - B & C - down the path towards the beach, are in a much quieter location - seem to house the apartments. However, the ground floor apartments in those blocks have narrow balconies, with low walls and no privacy at all. The brochure photo of the pool gives the illusion of a spacious pool area, but it’s quite claustrophobic, with loungers tightly packed in and tables around the bar area.

We got off to a bad start on our arrival from the Manchester flight at 1.30am. Very noisy party in full swing in the bar. Taz apologised, saying it was a one-off and normally the music was turned down by midnight. We were given room 208 in Block A. We asked if we could have a room somewhere quieter but this wasn’t possible. Air con and safes are charged for on a weekly (rather than daily) basis, so rather than wait until morning and losing what remained of our first night trying to sleep in a hot & stuffy room, we requested them straight away .... parting with €128 for air con and €45 before we’d even opened our cases. (At 3am though we did have to ask again for activation of the air con!)

Kitchen was stocked with a decent selection of utensils and crockery etc, sufficient for basic self catering (breakfasts/light lunches). A bonus was a sandwich toaster and a kettle. However, we had to request a frying pan (as we like to do eggs/bacon for breakfast). We were told none of the rooms have a frying pan, but the bar does an excellent cooked breakfast ......very crafty! Eventually, after 2 days, Taz did provide us with a very nice frying pan, but added that we were missing out by not having breakfast at the bar!

Our studio was a decent size, attractively furnished with comfortable beds. Also the balcony was fabulous, with a sea view, cushioned chairs and a clothes drier provided - very spacious too. Sadly, no such compliments could extend to the very tiny shower room. The proverbial ‘swinging of cats’ was definitely not an option. The door hit the toilet when opened only about 45 degrees, and could easily take your toenails off if you weren’t extremely careful.

The jewel in the crown for Evi is its proximity to Plakia Beach. Go down the private path and steps onto the beach and walk 100m to the start of the lovely sandy beach, with very comfortable (cushioned) sun loungers. Also, at the back of this beach, the cantina - with its shaded seating area, and sandy floor - has the monopoly on provision of food and drinks (and also beds and parasols at €8 per set). Pity they can’t provide that very lucrative service with more of a smile. By 7pm the old guy makes it clear you’re no longer welcome on the beach - we just ignored him!

Eating out: Strongly recommend Coralli restaurant - turn left out of Evi/Med and walk along the road about 200metres. The welcome is warm and friendly and the food is amazing - traditional Greek food with a modern twist. The desserts look good and taste even better. Very good value for money, but you need to go with an appetite. Turn right out of Evi/Med and walk 200m to where the strip really begins and look out for Spitaki - a very traditional Greek taverna, where you eat in a lovely shaded garden. The food is delicious and the service extremely friendly. Both of these places are proud of what they offer and are family run. Further up the strip there are a few places that do an €8.90 deal, offering a huge and varied selection of starters, mains and desserts. We gave Zorbas a try - with low expectations - and were pleasantly surprised. The quality of the food, and the portion sizes were amazing. Definitely one to try - just feels a bit weird sitting down below the pavement level in a sort of mock amphitheatre - on the corner of the road down to the main beach. Elsewhere the selection of eating places is OK but some are leaning too much towards ‘Master Chef’ presentation of food, eg Hellas, Terpsis and Nostalgia. When I order Kleftiko, I expect lamb on the bone, perhaps wrapped in paper or served in a pot. When it arrived as a slither of lamb, accompanied by pea puree, served on an oblong slate I realised just how commercialised an island Rhodes really is. To be fair though, we did have good, reasonably priced meals in all 3 of those restaurants but we prefer more traditional Greek food.

Leaving day at Evi. Bear in mind that if you arrive late, then you also leave late. There’s a dreadful lack of provision for late leavers. No courtesy room to use. Your only option is to use the shower next to the toilet behind the bar......but be warned, it’s sauna-like in there, so we were dripping with perspiration as we tried to dry off from the shower. Also there’s no lock on the door, so you need to have a partner to stand guard. Obviously you can ask to keep your room - if it’s available - but for the very steep charge of €35 for only 5 hours.

Conclusion: Good location but you really feel like the Evi owners are after as much money as they can possibly get out of you. Best places to eat out at night: Coralli, Spitaki and Zeus.

Room Tip: Studios near the bar (Block A) have lovely sea views but can experience some noise from the bar area...
