Me & My Fiancé stayed here for 1week from 17/5/14 aged 24 & 27. On arrival at Rhodes Airport the security & baggage reclaim was very prompt considering it was early hours. The journey to the hotel was quite long around 1hour 45minutes and there were quite a lot of drop offs so be prepared for this. On arrival at Stella Hotel check in was very quick we were given our key and shown where to go to our apartment. I had contacted Stella Hotel prior to our stay to request a room with a view of the sea & pool and was given exactly that. We were room 407 which looked directly across the pool and had a lovely view of the sea. We were on first floor there is also ground floor rooms and a second floor. The rooms are very large we had a 1bed apartment which had 2 balconies. The apartment had all the amenities you might need for cooking eg toaster, microwave, kettle etc however we didn't feel the need to buy food to make as breakfast/lunch/dinner was available in resort at very good prices. There were 2 single beds joined together , quite firm however neither of us had any trouble sleeping. There was a lot of wardrobe space and drawers and lots of hangers too for clothing. The bathroom was spotlessly clean with a bath and over head shower which was quite powerful and always hot. The rooms were cleaned daily, bed linen was changed a couple of times and towels daily but remember to leave on floor or over bath if you want them changed. The pool is average size and at first extremely cold but you will get used to it and after a day in the heat it was very refreshing! It isn't very deep so kids do seem to take over the pool slightly but we were there just before half term so this was probably why. Plenty of sunbeds never an issue getting one even in the middle of the day. Drinks reasonably priced at the hotel but we mainly used the Stella shop where you receive a 5% discount card which you can use and they have everything you could think of so great if you forget anything. The bakery does excellent pain aux chocolats and many other pastries etc. There is also another shop if you turn left out of Stella Hotel and head up the hill you will see it which has an even wider selection. The hotel is situated near to everything but still in a quiet location. Lee's Beach is about a 10minute walk mostly down hill and there is also St Thomas Beach which is smaller and Kavos Beach which you can find if you head towards Enigma Restaurant and keep walking on this road until you reach the signs then turn left for the beach. You can get back to Lee's beach by paddling but there are quite a few rocks so look out for the little walk way which enables you to walk back then walk back around to Lee's Beach.
The nightlife was very quiet due to being early in the season however this wasn't an issue to us we went to Pefkos by Night once but the cocktails weren't as good as other places and it was a bit too 'karaoke' like for us but they have many different acts at night. On our first day we had lunch at Pane Di Capo which is 2minutes away from Stella turn right out of the hotel then left and you will see it in front below Enigma Restaurant. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced it is joint to Enigma so we thought we would try our first meal there. Enigma is very well presented and the food was 5 star so much that we didn't eat anywhere else the whole week! Every night we had something different from the menu from Steak to Stuffed Chicken to Mousaka & even Mexican which was made for us by the Chef and not even on the menu. You can 'Challenge the chef' with 12hours notice to make anything you might like. The food was always hot and extremely well presented & most evenings the chef would come out and ask how the meal was & if anything could be done better which was a very nice touch. The desserts were also very tasty and more often than not we had a hot Belgian waffle with Nutella , Ice Cream & Strawberries!!! A must try! The staff were all very friendly especially THEO & LINDA who made us feel very welcome every evening and reserved us a table of our choice. Most evenings we had 3 courses each and 2 or 3 drinks and it come to less than 50 euros.
Palm Cocktail bar across from Enigma served delicious cocktails around 6 euros and a nice atmosphere. We ate downstairs from Enigma at Pane Di Capo for breakfast a few mornings which was better than some English breakfasts you'd be served back home and less than 5 euros for a full English. The fresh sorbet drinks were like Costa Iced Drinks but even better the Mango & Peach flavours were delicious and were served in very large glasses! They also do fantastic ice cream however we mainly had ice creams from shops as they were cheaper and took a liking to the extra large cornettos which were only 2 euros!!
We only did one trip which we booked through Lindos Travel which is just next to Stella Supermarket which was Rhodes By Day. They charged 16euros each return compared to 32 euros each which Thomas Cook wanted to charge for the same trip! We were picked up at around 8 am outside the hotel and had an English speaking tour guide for the coach journey into Rhodes which took just over an hour some lovely sights can be seen. On arrival into Rhodes you'll be given a map of the old & new town and where the meeting point will be for pick up. We went to the new town first where you will find some English shops like Body Shop, H & M, Pull & Bear, Pandora etc and not far from here is Rhodes harbour. We walked along the harbour where many boat trips are offered and we chose the 30minute Orca glass bottom boat trip which was 10 euros each and well worth doing. We didn't see many fish however the views from the boat were amazing and near to the end of the boat trip it speeds up very fast to return back to the harbour which was really fun but hold onto your hats! After this we went into Rhodes old town where there are many small cobbled streets and lots of shops selling gifts, local products , leather etc. There are many places to eat & drink. We also paid 5 euros each to walk up the clock tower which has around 80 steps to the top where you can look out across Rhodes and the views are fantastic. On the way down youll be given a free drink at the bar which there is also free wifi which is nice if you want to face time or Skype back home ! We had a full day in Rhodes and the coach left around 3.30pm getting us back to Stella late afternoon. Lindos is not far from Pefkos and well worth a visit about 8euros each way by taxi. There is a bus service which is very cheap however we were told it runs on GMT - Greek Maybe Time .. sometimes it wont turn up so we decided against using a bus to go anywhere.
Pefkos itself is quite small but lots of nice walks, bars and restaurants. There is also 2 fish foot spas. There is a Chinese & also an Indian restaurant and a couple of restaurants offer 3 course meals for less than 10 euros however we didn't try any of these due to the food at Enigma being so excellent and not highly expensive.
We would definitely return to the Stella Hotel it is very well maintained and in a great location for a relaxing weeks holiday in the sun! Highly Recommended!
