Fantastic Hotel, the staff were wonderful, happy to help. Apartments were really clean & well maintained.
A great place to stay. The hotel is a little out of the way for the beach & town but its a great walk & the exercise will do you good. Will definitely return.

A great place to stay... Lively or quiet, it's up to you. All English but it is a package holiday resort with Olympic! Staff wonderful... Pool busy and children but can be fun. If you want romance stay away... Bit of a walk into main area of Pefkos and all uphill from any beach in area. Overall a bargain holiday but Greece is not cheap by any means. 2.50 euro pint, any meal 40 euro with wine. Hope this helps your decision in where to go. Ps. Air con 50 euro per week and breakfast 7 days 25 euro.

On arrival the impression is very good. The young guy who takes care of the desk at night and shows you to your room could not be more helpful. Unfortunately, when we arrived to our room we were horrified to find filthy floods, walls, bathroom, shower curtain... Broken beds, broken wardrobe, uncovered sockets, only one working light... the list goes on. We slept in our clothes the first night. The dirt is the kind that is built up over years where only a cursory mop and wipe has been given to the floor and bathroom.

The sheets were freshly washed but marked with permanent stains ad I didn't dare look at the mattresses. A double room is in fact a twin. It is common to have 2 single divans pushed together with a double top/bottom sheet but these are 2 single bed frames that cannot therefore act as a double. When we questioned this with the management the response is simply 'they are all like that'. Presumable if they were all roofless this would also be ok????

Bar staff generally friendly and other guests seemed to adopt a blitz mentality (on discussion it appears all rooms were of a similar standard).

If you are well travelled and used to home stay/hostel living you will be able to deal with this but otherwise my advice is steer clear!!

Just spent two weeks in hell at this so-called hotel. As soon as the coach pulled up we got that sinking feeling, and after pulling our luggage a third or the way up a mountain to reception it only got worse. Before we got our keys we were mugged for 100 Euros for air conditioning and expected to pay a further 30 Euros for a safe that was in reception and no where near our room.
Well, room 183 was a further third of the way up the mountain and trailing luggage following a night flight with children was no joke, then we also had a flight of steep stairs to go. Once inside and in desperate need of an oxygen tank we were astounded to find the place a dirty hovel. The ants had taken over and infested the entire place. Dirty sheets and towels were left for us to use and the bed was like a slab of concrete. The cleaner who visited occasionally armed with one cloth to clean all and a filthy mop, made a lame excuse at cleaning, in fact it got so bad that we bought cleaning materials and bleach to try and have some level of hygiene about the place. Now we didn't expect a lot and 'basic' seems to be the in-word to describe Rhodes but we did expect a standard of cleanliness. When we lifted the sheets the ants were all over the mattress and we were eaten alive during the night. Over our fortnight the pool area was never cleaned once and the bar and food area was soaked with a hose every morning causing nothing more that huge puddles to be negotiated when you tried to escape the property to go for breakfast. That takes us to the disgusting food. On our first evening we decided to eat at the Finas --- BIG MISTAKE!!! We waited 45 minutes on our first drink and two hours on our food. The 'well done' steak was less than rare and was returned to be cooked and my carbanara was cold and probably taken from a freezer and placed for too short a time in a microwave. The lamb chops arrived as a plate of chips and the fish and chips our youngest granddaughter ordered was so full of huge bones that it was uneatable. The steak was brought back 20 minutes later the same raw way, only this time the veg was stone cold as it hadn't been replaced or kept warm. Carbanara was sliding in olive oil and when the lamb chops eventually did appear these were the only eatable dish served to us. We were by far not the only people to complain about the food and the young lad who was worked off his feet was struggling to cope. The lad came over to us and said the chef sent his apologies for the food but this meant very little as we were still presented with a bill for almost 53 Euro which we had to pay in full. The owner who was always on site, must have no pride in this place or how guests who pay hard-earned cash to go there are treated. Despite daily complaints from guests staff had no authority to do anything and the Olympic Rep seemed oblivious to what was clear to be seen. The only saving grace about this holiday was the close proximity to the little town, 4-5 Euros in a taxi, where quality restaurants were abundant. We ate most evenings at Roumelies No4 from a huge menu serving 3 courses for 8.90 Euro and 4 Euro for a kids meal (which was enormous) with free ice cream. This was our first time to Greece, and our last, after this experience. Having travelled extensively for 40+ years this was not just the holiday from hell but the hotel in hell. Everyone noticed and remarked how the owner sat perched on a bar stool watching the staff and how only the manager and the owners son were allowed to take money. Giving a very poor impression to guests and showed a high level of mistrust of his staff. Pity though, because the staff were the only ones keeping this place open in our opinion. Those who have either low or no standards of cleanliness and are prepared to live in filth are welcome to this place. PRICE SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY BEARING ON HYGIENE.

Room Tip: NONE IN OUR EXPERIENCE -- Unless you enjoy living in filth and mountain climbing.

We have just returned from the Finas yesterday... 24h August. We had booked this holiday in February but then after reading some of the bad reviews we were really worried and even attempted to change our hotel, so we arrived with some doubts. However when we arrived we were checked in quickly and paid 50 Euros per week for the air con .... which worked brilliantly and was actually a lot cheaper than we have paid in previous Greek hotels. I had worried about people saying it was noisy and requested a room away from the bar which we got.. It was up a bit of a steep incline and a flight of stairs but the amazing sea views across the pretty garden landscape made up for that. The room was fairly basic... but then most Greek hotels are unless you pay a fortune. We had two single sofa beds which my nine year old son and twenty year old daughter used ... and we had a double bed in a separate area. All the beds were comfy and the linen and towels all clean. We had the company of one or two ants in the bathroom now and again but you are in Greece... what do people expect.. they never bothered us!!. We had a balcony at the front with table and chairs and a massive balcony at the side too which we used for hanging washing... both had fantastic views. We ate breakfast in the hotel most mornings and found the food really nice and good value for money.. the omelettes were only 2.99 Euro and were huge and came with salad and chips... and the staff were always friendly and polite with us. The pool area could do with some new chairs... some were a bit tatty but other than that it was really nice. We usually went out through the day and went to the pool late afternoon when we could always get a sunbed. It is about a ten/fifteen min walk to the beach depending on which beach and which route you take but we had a hire car the whole time as we were sightseeing so that never bothered us. I was worried about the noisy bar and the karaoke nights... as were were quite a way from the bar it was never a problem.... the karoake nights were about twice a week when we could hear some noise but it always finished just after twelve so again was no problem. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again if we returned to Pefkos.

First of all as the title suggests we were a little apprehensive about staying at the Finas because of all the negative reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. As mentioned in other reviews checkin was a bit laborious at 05.00AM with a coach full of people all wanting keys and AC sorting out, but we got there eventually. The room we booked was supposed to have an inland view but ended up with a rather nice sea view albeit between other apartments. We had booked half board and were more than satisfied with the standard of choice and quality of the meals. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful with requests being dealt with very well.
The complex in general is OK but there are some areas that could do with having general maintenance carried out. The pool area does need cleaning on a regular basis but all we saw was some of the bar staff collecting glasses. There are enough sunbeds available but a lot of them needed either repairing properly or throwing in the skip.
The room we had was very good (No 177) but one drawback was that is was overlooking the pool and bar so when there was a kareoke night about twice a week it was very noisy until about 1.00AM. The cleaners were in most days either changing sheets or towels and sweeping the floors. The Olympic rep was about most days and would help with any problems (not that we had any). Pefkos is a very nice area to stay and we found a nice little cove that we would walk to most days.
We went to Rhodes twice, once with an organised excursion and once on local buses which wasn't a problem at all and was a quarter of the organised trip price. I think we will return to Pefkos and will have no qualms about staying at the Finas again. The next time we will probably hire a car for a few days just to see the outlying countryside.
We did think that the room extension for the day you were leaving was very expensive so we didn't bother. We managed to have a wash and get changed in the rather superb toilets below reception. The last thing I want to say is that if you have any problems walking especially uphill I would choose a hotel further out of the town. All the town hotels are built on rather steep hills!!

Having read the previous reviews we were wondering what we were letting ourselves in for! All the staff are very friendly and welcoming especially Steve, night porter, who is quite happy to go the extra mile for you. The pool area is too cramped with too many umbrellas, you hardly get any sun, and too many broken sunbeds. As others have complained about there are too many towels on sunbeds in the morning with no-one appearing until lunch time. Many customers would prefer it if the management resolved this. The bar area was cramped but the chairs comfortable and staff very friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced.

We booked a 1 bedroom apartment which had to single beds as you went in through the door with a large wardrobe on the left. The kitchenette was just that, a sink & draining board with a small space with to rings on. It was well stocked with everything you need, just lacked space. The bathroom opposite the kitchen was large with a powerful shower but the door didn't shut very easily nor did it lock. It did however take 3 days for the plug to be removed from the sink after if became jammed despite Steve's best efforts immediately to resolve it the message didn't seem to be passed on! The kitchen area led onto the main bedroom with a large double, bedside & dressing tables, this led onto the balcony. There was nowhere to sit inside & we brought the chairs in when we ate there at lunch because it was too hot in the sun. The pillows leave a lot to be desired although the cleaner did find me a new one on our first full day, which was the most comfortable pillow in the world after the previous one! The beds are hard but better than having a sink hole in the middle. There was no door between our area, the kitchen or the single beds with only 1 air conditioning unit blowing into the main bedroom. Air conditioning however is a must due to the heat.

The cleaner came in most days, took out the rubbish, swept and mopped the floor but only cleaned the bathroom once. The bedding & towels were changed a few times, more than enough.

We had a lovely view of the sea from our balcony despite the booking form saying inland view. The grounds are lovely and well maintained.

Pefkos is a hilly resort with a 10 minute downhill walk to the beach. The resort has everything you need with plenty of restaurants and bars. We went to different pools particularly Anixis next door as for the price of a few drinks you have lots of room, sunbeds in one piece and the ability to sun yourself! The beach is lovely and sandy, safe and mostly free from watersports. Overall we would revisit Pefkos but not stay here again. We appreciate it is cheap accommodation but the lack of room when you have a teenager and a 10 year old is trying at times.

Room Tip: If you wish to avoid the noise of the karaoke ask for a quiet room!
