“Would go back...”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

First time we stayed in self catering for many years and was pleasantly surprised. Hotel itself very charming and proper greek. Rooms very basic but clean. Only criticism I will make is that we didn't get clean towels every day whilst my dad staying in another room did. think it must depend on the cleaner. Also had to go and complain about why the bin in our bathroom wasn't emptied for 3 days..Again my dad in his room never had a problem. We did go down to reception and they gave us clean towels no problem. Staff in reception were lovely, so helpful and the Bar and restaurant staff equally so. Value for money can't fault it.. 8.90 for 3 course meal and 2.80 for a large beer...Our room had great view of the sea which we requested but didn't pay for so that was a nice bonus. Had a great week and will definitely go back, can't fault the friendliness and value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor as the balcony's are all quite over looked so being higher up gives you bit...

Thanks for your review.

We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us.

Towel changes are only twice per week (standard in 3 star self catering studios). We can only appologise about your bin not being emptied and assume that the cleaner has accidently left it. We appreciate your comments and hope you will come and visit us again soon.

Stayed here because the room we had in another appartment couldn't let us extend,
We paid €50 to have the room.. Went up at 8am the room wasn't ready we didn't get into the room until gone 5pm as we went on a day trip...
The lady at the desk said room was ready well we went through the door to be greeted with cobwebs went to use the loo to find the bathroom bin had not been emptied!! What we found wasn't nice!! Found loads of insets in the room and there was a big gap under the door, so that's where there coming from, went to the bar for a few drinks even the bar was sticky never will we book to stay here looks lovely from the outside but inside a different story in our room!

Thank you for your review.

When you booked the room extension we explained to you that our guests would not be departing their room until 12noon and that the room would be ready shortly after that. When you arrived at 8.30am we explained this once again and you told us you were going out for the day and returning at 5pm, this is the reason you didn't get into the room until 'gone 5pm'.

We are surprised to hear of any cleanliness iossues in your room as the cleaners are spot on and all rooms are pre checked before arrival. We also have no report of this at the reception desk?

Sorry to hear that the bar was 'sticky' but obviously a busy bar can have small intervals of time between cleaning when there might be a little stickyness for a spilt drink.

We will look into your comments.

We just got back from the finas last week and all i can say is what a brilliant week we had. We were gutted to come home and wanted to stay another week. Before we went we said we would try somewhere different to eat every night but we ended up staying at the finas for our meals ue to the kids loving it here so much they didnt want to go anywhere else. The bar area is fab , the food is fresh and lovely (and the owner even picked my starter for me one night saying it was none of my business what i had which my partner and kids thought was hilarious. Then the staryer he chose for me happened to be lovely. On our last day my foot went thro the plastic at the side of the pool and i reported it to Racheal and within 5 minutes it was fixed due to onsight handyman guy. We made lots of friends and the kids did too even the teenagers made some great friends which was brilliant as its normally the toddlers who make the friends. If anyone complains about this place thet need their heads testing. Iv been many many times to greece but can honestly say this was the best. The BBQ ,s were brilliant and karaoke night was a great laugh too. Pool fab and an area for teenagers to hang out away from parents so they can act cool lol. Thanks to all the staff at the finas for a brilliant stay. We even made a name for the girl who clears tables we called her noo noo as shes like a vacuum as soon as u finish with a glass or meal she tidies it up straight away sometimes a little eager . Once again thanks for a brilliant stay we just wish we could have stayed for another week. Definately 2 weeks next year here.

Thank you so much for taking time to write a review. We are delighted that you and all the family had such a lovely time.

I can still remember the kids breakfast order of 'no mushroom or tomatoes with the special breakfast'. Such a lovely family!

It's great to hear that you felt like you wanted to stay around the hotel all of the time.

Aris isn't actually the owner but yes let him choose your dish for you and you will not be disappointed.

We wish you and your family well and look forward to seeing you again next year.

We went to the Finas appartments last year. it was a last minute booking for our family of 4 in an apartment with a double bed and sofa bed.

what can I say, it was very basic but the apartments are located well, 5-10 mins stroll from the beach, a decent size swimming pool and bar.

Don't expect luxury but if you get this on a bargain price its fine because end of day you are in a good location, with decent amenities in reach of everything else in the village. there is a shop at the apartments too.

Room Tip: wifi is available but in reception where signal is strongest.

Returned recently from a week's stay at Finas.
For those familiar with Greece, this is very typical of their basic holiday apartments, they don't have such plush apartments perhaps in Blighty so don't expect the Ritz!
For those too lazy to read the whole review, here's a short Pros and Cons list:
Hotel: Pros:
Cheap, clean, everything works, good bar, lovely food, clean pool, free wifi in bar area, blackout binds!
Cons:
Air-con not included, some maintenance issues, odd cleaning/linen system, staff hit and miss.
Area: Pros:
Close to main Pefkos resort, quiet, pleasant beaches, plenty of tavernas.
Cons:
Quiet (Both a pro and a con, depending on what you want....), bit hilly, not an enormous variety of places other than tavernas.

So the hotel pros in detail, on first arrival (at 3am) the chap on reception was very helpful and friendly, we were escorted to our rooms and left till the morning. Now, Rhodes is a fairly hilly island, you'll be hard pushed to find a resort on the total flat, but from reviews I read I expected this place to be carved into a cliff! Absolutely not true, I was in one of the higher rooms and it really wasn't an issue at all.
On entering the room, I found half a bottle of Lucozade on the table, a welcome gift, perhaps? Cleaners need to be a little more careful!
Now, Air-con isn't included, and considering the weather regularly exceeds 40'C, this is frankly rather cruel. I paid a bargain price for this holiday (Just under £200 per person incl. flights) but if I had paid full price then I would have been rather annoyed at this.
The bar and taverna area is great. An enormous list of cocktails, all at 5 euro which is cheaper than most places in town! Although funnily, whatever cocktail you buy comes with a chunk of melon and a little decoration, whether the cocktail is fruit based or cream based! Melon didn't really go too well with my Brandy Alexander!
The food is top quality. Cooked fresh and very tasty, also they have a special pizza oven and do a small range of very nice pizzas. The only problem is, staff can be a bit blunt. There is one young chap behind the bar who is fantastic, very friendly and cheerful, but the others can be a bit grumpy, also only certain members of staff can make the cocktails, so if they're away from the bar when you order you have to sit around for a while until they come back, which is a bit stupid.
Pool is nice, very clean and I saw the man chlorine it daily. There's lots of pool floats and balls about for general usage which is nice.
The thing is, and I found this with lots of places on the island, the pool area just reeked of sewage. Really took the relaxing edge off sunbathing... I think perhaps it is a mixture of the extreme heat and the somewhat outdated sewage system that Greece uses (you can't flush away loo roll etc).
The rooms generally are good. Basic but spacious and clean.
We had two apartments for the four of us, one of which was better than the other. The one apartment had no ventilation in the bathroom (no window or vent), which with the toilet roll situation got pretty smelly. Also, the shower curtain was only just long enough for the bathtub, so lots of water got out into the bathroom and as a result the door had started to rot which didn't look too nice.
The other apartment was fine though, window in the bathroom (patterned, you can't look in!).
The major flaw with the apartments is the positioning, most of them simply look out onto other apartments, and they don't provide you with blinds or net curtains, so you can't really fully relax or slump on the bed without going around and closing all the curtains.
Another issue I had was with how the cleaners worked, although the apartments were cleaned well, they have a strange rota with the linen. It's only changed once a week along with the towels, which is fair enough as I doubt many people wash their bedlinen daily anyway! The thing is though, the one day a week is the same regardless of when you arrive/leave. So we had the same set of towels for 5 days, then got a new set of everything the day before we left. You'd think they'd make the swap over halfway through your week, not theirs...
Also, we would close the curtains when we went out to keep the sun out of the apartment, and the cleaners would come along and open them! So we'd get back to a sun-baked room!
Now, the Greeks don't really do health and safety, and it shows in this hotel. I'm an able bodied young person and I fell over more times than I'd like to admit. There's random bumps and lumps in the ground where cables and pipes go, and at one point there's a random 4in stone hurdle on the path. Must be holding a pipe or something, but it's not been very well masked!

Overall, for the price I paid, this is a good hotel. It has everything you'd want for a relaxing week away. If I'd have paid the full school-holiday price this would have probably been a 3 star review, but for such a bargain I really can't complain!

Room Tip: As mentioned, higher rooms have better views, but you'll still probably look over to another apa...

Thanks for your review.

We are glad you have had a good stay with us. All of your points help us make sure that we continue to improve the holiday experience for all of our guests.

As with all self catering holidays in europe the air con is an additional charge and this is stated in brochures prior to booking.

We hope to see you here again in the future.

Just got back from a weeks stay at the Finas in Pefkos, Rhodes. Booked a last minute cheap getaway and my only moan, is that he beds were a little to hard for my liking, although I did sleep ok. (We usually go all inclusive in the Carribean). The Finas is set in a hillside, terraced, well tended gardens with a roaming peacock. There are ample sun beds around a generous sized pool area with a bar and eating area alongside. Plenty of inflatables are left by previous holidaymakers, sometimes more of them in the pool than people. Wonderful sea views leading down towards the town and beach, a 5 /10 minute stroll away (depending on how slowly you stroll) The staff are all friendly, ask and they will do their best to accommodate. Supermarket 30 seconds walk away if you want to self cater ( and 5% discount to boot) Prices at the Finas are competitive with the other restaurants around and the food is very good. We had a fab time, weather was hot, hot, hot and although we did move, had we not wanted to, everything was to hand. Do try. You won't be disappointed
