just returned from pefkos gardens on arrival like the couple we met from newcastle ,there was no room for us and another couple who we met at check in .we got put in a car with a random stranger who took us to another hotel/hostel our room looked out onto a dried up sess pit thankfully we only spent 1 night there.we finally got our room at dinner time the next day but had to take our cases by the pool until then.the food wasn,t the best no variety,if you like tea take your own tea bags.
the infamous dog only woke us once he is only a pup
the rooms were cleaned every day but it was a bonus if you got fresh towels.
the brochure said 200 metres from the beach more like 500 metres and 100 steps to walk down.
other than that we met a nice couple and had a good 6 days holiday.
I WOULDN,T HAVE A BAD WORD SAID ABOUT THE PLACE LOL.

Room Tip: we had a high level sea view room it was quieter .

The brochure photos of this hotel would indicate a quiet and relaxing holiday, however our experience of this place was the complete opposite. We were a party of three couples and a single friend, when we arrived at four thirty in the morning there was only 1 room available, 2 couples and our single friend had to sleep in the reception area as we were told the rooms would be ready at 9am (there seemed little point in taking them up on the offer of moving to another hotel for the night - which we later found out was a hostel). We then waited until 7.30pm until all in our party finally had a room !
The Hotel owner - Barbara - was an extremely loud individual who could be heard all over the Hotel, her attitude to staff members was an absolute disgrace, it was embarrassing to have to sit during meal times and listen to her wailing at the staff, (not to mention her dog barking all hours of the night). The reception staff weren't any better, just shrugged every thing off as _ these things happen, They were completely unhelpful and uncooperative.
To advertise this Hotel as all inclusive is a joke, There was next to no variation at meal times what so ever, they didn't even have a toaster available at breakfast, and the only snacks available were ice cream or ham and cheese sandwich EVERY DAY ! My personal opinion is that every meal was put together on the cheapest possible budget which couldn't have possibly catered for the may nationalities who were staying hear.
When we finally had the sweet release of leaving this place we couldn't even have a late check out (7 of us) and had to sit from 12 midday until 7.30pm for our pick up !! (Thank you to the Brits we met from Devon who stored our suite cases and allowed us to use their shower before we left.
Loved the island - HATED the hotel, it pains me to think people work and save all year round and look forward to their summer break only to end up in this hovel. If you are traveling on a budget this is not the place for you unless you are prepared to diet throughout your holidays, fortunately we were lucky enough to be in a position to eat out.

Room Tip: Try another hotel

Had a really nice stay at the pefkos gardens. Basic hotel with great staff. Nice setting with beautiful gardens and pool area. Food and drink on the all inclusive was really good value for what we paid. The staff are friendly and this helped everyone relax and enjoy there stay. Most were return guests. The barman Kristos was a real joker and kept the drinks flowing. Barbara the owner is a character and is great with the guests. Location is perfect and a short walk to town and beach. I would book a stay at this hotel again. Much better than a self catering stay and it is real value for money as it is much the same price. We did go out a few nights for meals and drinks, you are spoiled for choice in this resort, the restaurants are great. Forget bad reviews for this hotel. Its cheap and cheerful and good fun.

After deciding to holiday in Pefkos for a week with two friends, we had to make a very difficult choice between a huge selection of hotels which all seemed very similar and were similarly-priced.

If you are facing the same decision, the only piece of advice I can offer is do NOT stay here.

We decided on Pefkos Garden as we thought it represented good value for money and besides, if the hotel wasn't that great, we were only sleeping in it, right?

Of our seven nights there we only lasted three before cutting our losses and moving hotels. This is a group who have travelled extensively across Europe, America and Asia, staying at hostels, one-star hotels and so-on. We are not used to luxury accommodation and nor were we expecting it. However:

1. One friend woke up with either flea, or bed bug bites. When we advised reception, we were told "oh you will find mosquitos everywhere". These were not mosquito bites.

2. The music playing at the pool bar is LOUD and plays til midnight officially, but on the three nights we managed to stay there, it played til at least 2am. This, along with the loud conversations carried out by Eastern European staff and guests, made it very difficult to get to sleep. When we asked if we could move to a room further away from the noise, we were denied.

3. The sliding door to the balcony did not lock. Subsequently, we decided to shell out the eight Euros for a safe deposit box in reception.

4. The hotel has a dog which not only barks at all hours of the night and early morning (5am), but it confronted us aggressively when we returned back to the hotel after dinner one night and basically would not let us pass. The hotel staff don't seem too concerned with this threatening dog.

5. Wifi was advertised as free but there is a charge - 20 Euros for a week from memory. Also, air conditioning is 7 Euros per night. Also on booking.com it says there is a tennis court and ATM - we could find neither.

6. The barman was very rude and put us off going to the bar altogether. In fact, the staff in general were the opposite of the welcoming and friendly attitudes you expect at a hotel.

We did not use the pool, instead opting to go to a pool bar down the road which had a much nicer atmosphere, so cannot comment on previous reviewers' comments around the pool.

When we advised the receptionist that we could no longer stay at the hotel because of the reasons listed above, she just shrugged her shoulders and told us we would not get a refund. No apology, no sympathy whatsoever. We were not looking for luxury accommodation but being able to get to sleep is an important part of a holiday and for us that was the final straw. We went down the road to Summer Memories, which was infinitely better - if you are tossing up between these two, as we were, hedge your bets with Summer Memories.

Dirty hotel, horrible food, staff rude! Nasty dog that continues to bark all through the night and have heard it bite someone before we got there! There was a outbreak of stomach bug whilst there and we can see why!!
The all inclusive was rubbish, only certain times of the days could you have drinks and food! Even the barman decides if he will serve you drinks in the afternoon, telling my nan, you have too much pineapple you can only have orange juice now!
The bar staff was rude to my sister in law making her cry! If you are Russian then you will fit in fine, not English! We spent a fortune eating out every night NEVER EVER AGAIN!! Pefkos is lovely but please do not go to this hotel......

Room Tip: Do not stay here, you will regret it! We choose to ignore the bad reviews, never again :(

Have just returned from 2 weeks at pefkos gardens the hotel was lovely and greek, the staff Ramos, George, Christos, Barbara etc were brilliant. We had a family emergency and without the kindness and help from the staff it could have been horrendous. If you like to experience Greek hospitality I would highly recommend this hotel. A bonus is pefkos is soooo beautiful.

This hotel was like a bad egg from the moment we stepped into our room. The open drain in the shower with broken grill over the drain was not only dangerous but the smell from the drain was over powering. When flushing the toilet, the water from the toilet passes past the drain in the centre of the bathroom (hence the smell!!!). The shower feeds into the same drain. A few nights into the stay, we could hear noises above the bathroom ceiling and discovered we had mice/rats. Rat/mice urine was dripping from the ceiling and there were several stains on the bathroom ceiling. The hotel staff advised that they'd never seen this before (I just think they'd avoided dealing with the issue!). The food (all inclusive) was acceptable, but re-stocking food that had run out was lacking. This hotel is clearly being run on a very tight budget as there are too few staff in the restaurant to cope with demand (cleaning tables, supplying drinks, replenishing food). The swimming pool looks nice from a distance, but the plastic drainage grills around the pool are black with mould/bacteria and are broken in places. The owner has a dog that barks at various hours through the night and wanders around the hotel willy nilly. One night I knocked on the owners door at 5:50am to stop the dog howling and barking. She said "what do you want me to do, put the dog down?".
This hotel looks very nice as you pull up in the coach from the airport. The gardens are very well maintained. If as much care was taken everywhere else in the hotel as is clearly evident in the gardens, this could be a very nice hotel.
This hotel is supposed to be 3 star but from our experience, I'd struggle to give it a 2 star rating.

Room Tip: Choose a room in another hotel, don't stay here unless you like rats/mice and smelly drains in y...
