We booked this hotel for a 1 night stay for the 1st Jan 2014. The friendly welcome we received upon arrival was lovely. Nothing too much trouble and they offered us the Aroha room, a larger room than we had booked for the same price. The rooms are nicely furnished, themed and kept in the heritage manner of the hotel's history. The bed was really comfortable. The self service continental breakfast was sufficient to start off on our day. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed but the town centre is an easy 5 minute walk. The restaurant/downstairs area is in need of refurbishment and the new owners said they are undertaking this in 2014. The location is great for access to the hot spa pools.
