Nice owner and good place to live with friends, especially the free hot pool and good view of the mountain in the morning. Also I like the children's park most.

Room Tip: flat is good choice

I stayed at the holiday park, we had such a lovely time we really enjoyed the hot pool which was very kindly put on for us (out of summer season). The house and facilties were brilliant, we felt very welcome and were sad we could only stay one night! Thanks for a great stay. From the English Backpackers.

Room Tip: Next time I would bring a tent because the scenery is breath taking and worth waking up to in the mo...

We stayed one night at the Possum Cottage and it was great. Everything you need is there and it was very clean. Our teenage children loved the big swings. Staying here feels a bit like staying on a farm with the cows grazing next door - very relaxing. We didn't have enough time to try out the hot pools. We'd like to go back in summer and use the big pool too. Great Swiss Hospitality with a special night cap too. Thanks heaps!

Room Tip: The cottage we stayed in was a bit more modern than the flats. But in the flats the 2 single bed is...

We were a group from a Tramping Club spending time in the Kaimai Range and wanted simple but economic accommodation for the evenings. We were more than happy with our 6 bedroom unit - it was clean had an enormous TV (great for watching the Rugby World Cup). The hotpool, while small, was an excellent way to recover after our tramps. The staff were helpful and friendly

The accommodation was very cheap and I guess we got what we paid for. The flat was very old and required desperate upgrading. The facilities they had for children were fantastic. If you're looking for the farm experience for young children then this is the place to stay. The staff were lovely and accomodating. Just don't stay in the family flat no.2 at its current state.

Room Tip: Do not book family flat no. 2 any time this year. Needs a lot of work!

I recently traveled to the area from Auckland in order to see the Lord of the Rings set in Matamata. Wasn't expecting much in terms of accomadation, but was pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely friendly, and the scenery was amazing. Situated at the base of the mountains, I had an amazing view from the Apple Cottage. I even arrived late with some food I wanted to cook on a grill. The owner and her daughter stayed up late in order to provide me with an available portable grill, and returned even later to pick it up! Grounds staff works on hard maintainence of natural grounds. I had a perfect view of the Milky Way for the first time in my life, which was surprising, considering I have spent much of my life traveling the world. Extemely picturesque, spent many hours just walking around and loking at the mountains. Wifi was available, though not from Apple Cottage, which was OK for the great price and service. I will definately stay there again.
