Just a perfect stroll along the south coast. Be forewarned that it can get hot, so don't go barefoot. Very safe any time of day, even at night. No vendors hustling trinkets. No crowds. No cyclists. Just people strolling along and a few runners. The view is tremendous and it will take you past some of the nicest beaches on the southern coast.

I was fortunate to have been able to spend almost six months from January-June 2014 living in Hastings, and the Boardwalk became my second home. The Boardwalk is a mile long promenade stretching from Accra /Rockley Beach in the east, to Hastings Beach io the west. It's heavily used by locals and visitors alike, especially in the mornings and evenings when it's full of walkers, power walkers and joggers, or just people come to watch the sunrise and/sunset. It's one of the best places for the latter, and I've been privileged to see some of the most beautiful sunsets from along the promenades here. Locals and visitors also come here to fish, and several popular restaurants are also on the Boardwalk. For a few months from around April-May, turtles also come here to lay their eggs, and volunteer visitors and locals may be seen at night during the season helping to ensure that the turtles get to lay their eggs safely. During the summer months, the Barbados Police Force Band plays free concerts on the bandstand - these are always lively affairs and well attended and enjoyed by locals and visitors. It's pretty magical, especially so as the sun sets over the sea. There are several settings areas at various points where you can sit and watch the sea, and the sunrise and sunset, or just people watch. While it's quite safe during daylight hours, it can be fairly isolated at night so do take the usual safety precautions.

A great boardwalk from the Coconut Beach Hotel towards The St Lawrence Gap for a distance of about 3 Kilometres with some good eating places along the way. - You need a torch at night. It has a useful covered area about 1/2 way way along which is good for sheltering under when it rains! - And it does. Also plenty of shops etc on the adjacent main road for topping up supplies.

A timber and concrete boardwalk along the high tide level. But not much more than the sea to look at with several dilapidated hotels, buliding sites and vacant areas bordering it.
