I have been fortunate enough to visit Barbados on many occasions, varying from the west coast down to the south coast & this little gem of a hotel, with its fantastic staff, by far exceed anywhere I've stayed before.
I cannot agree more with mrcooljanny (the wonderful Sally &Jan). So if you want to read an honest review, take note of theirs.

We will definitely be back for a 3rd visit. See you soon Savannah!

This is a lovely hotel, the rooms are very big and were immaculately clean. We were in a room that overlooked the pool. Not the usual shaped pool but one that did the circuit of the grounds. It's not very deep but still nice to swim in. It only took seconds to get to the local beach, this beach is quite rocky and not great for swimming but there are other beaches within minutes where you can swim. We were not bothered on the beach by sellers at all, there is plenty of shade and sunbeds and the Drifters Bar is there for drinks and food. Copa Cabana beach was within a short bus ride and one of the nicest beaches we've been on. The staff at the Savannah Beach were great, nothing was too much trouble. We ate in Rachel's and the Drifters Bar and the food in both was great. We would definitely return to the Savannah Beach and Barbados. We had a lovely holiday, were very well looked after and can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The pool view rooms are large and comfortable, we were not bothered by any noise.

We recently holidayed at Savannah Beach and had a great time for the first 7 days. The staff were so happy and helpful, we had a lovely beach access room, the food and service in all restaurants was very good. We upgraded so sat on the VIP deck area, well worth the extra money for the comfort and we had the lovely Jackie and beach staff looking after us.
On the 8th day disaster struck, my husband fell off the small jetty to the left of the beach and badly broke his leg. He spent eight days in hospital! The hotel staff were amazing, Paula the reception manager was so kind and let me keep my room for an extra week, Horace and all the restaurant staff were very concerned and looked after me and the beach staff were incredible. They called the ambulance and even helped carry the stretcher! Well beyond the call of duty. I couldn't have been staying in a better place. Linda, the Virgin rep was superb, very knowledgable.
I can't understand why this hotel is only a3.5star, but I can understand why people keep returning, it was fab. Would highly recommend.

My husband Jan and I have just returned from our 4th visit to this wonderful relaxing hotel. This hotel is a Virgin 3.5 star hotel and has a fabulous all inclusive package and in my view far exceeds the expectations of a 3.5 star hotel. If you want total luxury you should book 5 star and pay those prices. This hotel is wonderful value for money for Barbados as its a very expensive island.

Whilst the hotel remains part of the same hotel chain, they have many new managers at this hotel, and fresh eyes are delivering even further improvements in service. The service is amazing and the lovely people working at this hotel cannot be faulted, they are so so friendly and helpful.

Check in was very easy and efficient, with a wonderful warm welcome and a rum punch, bags were taken straight to our lovely suite. The suit had a fabulous view of the ocean (please see photos attached). There was a lounge area downstairs which has TV, Fridge, stocked bar, this is the club upgrade, team and coffee making facilities, w/c and sink, hair dryer and mirror, ironing board and safe, with a large balcony with very comfy sun loungers and a fab view. Upstairs is the bedroom with a fabulously large and comfortable bed, the bathroom. The suit has lots of storage. It was kept immaculately clean, all towels, bar and coffee etc were stocked and changed reliably. The bathrooms are tired, but very clean with everything you need.

Club upgrade - We had the club upgrade and in my view adds that extra special touch. You have access to the vip/club deck, which has very comfortable padded sun loungers. There is constant service from Jackie and Darius. Constant flow of drinks! There is a Gazebo on the deck which is self service it has iced bottles of beer, fresh fruit, apples, oranges, Banana's, crisps and pastries and biscuits. There are also table and chairs put on the deck where you can order from the club lunch menu in the morning and have your lunch brought to you. The club upgrade also give a daily newspaper and generously stock bar of soft drinks and 200 ml bottles Gin, whisky, vodka and rum, replenished every other day! Everyone with the club package loved it!

Beach, the beach boys Martin, Michael and Elsid set out the chairs and put them away. they are great guy's. the beach is well maintained and the view of the perfect blue ocean is wonderful. The access to the sea immediately in front of the hotel has lots of coral so its best to walk 50metres to the left to swim, sea shoes are advisable. the beauty of the coral is you get turtles bobbing up and down at the corner of the VIP deck! If the beach was better the hotel would be far more expensive! Wild monkeys also come through the beach and the hotel Garden near the beach, if you are lucky you can get some great pictures. I was here last year in the turtle hatching season and saw for 4 nests hatch (peak season is July to Oct). An amazing experience, i would highly recommend booking during this period to take your chance to see if you are lucky to see this happen! The hotel do not try to cash in on such an amazing experience! The Turtle warden told us the stretch of beach the Savannah is on has more turtles hatch than any where in Barbados.

Food and drinks. There are three restaurants and all are part of the all inclusive. Unless you are eating at night in drifters you need to book your diner at Rachel's at breakfast. Rachel's serves buffet breakfast, the breakfast has a great choice, Cereals, pastries, fresh fruits, porridge, waffles, egg station and a variety of other hot dishes that vary from day to day including hash browns, sausages, potato slices, beans, bacon etc. Dinner is served in Rachels 6 nights week you must book at breakfast. Sundays and wednesdays buffet, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday is A la carte and Saturdays a Bajan dinner. The food is wonderful as is the service! the tables are laid lovely, drinks are always re-filled! Rachel's also has a lovely bar, fabulous cocktails, the cocktail list in Rachel's has more than drifters and had a few more drinks to choose from.

Chopstix is a new addition to the all inclusive package and is open all nights except Sunday and Wednesday's. Again book at Rachel's in the morning, this is a noodle bar, all courses are selected off the menu, and the food is delicious. They will cook the noodles Mild, Med and hot.

Drifters is buffet style its in a lovely location by the beach, it serves lunches which have a fabulous choice for such a small hotel, always a decent salad bar which we love! variety of hot dishes that vary from day to day ranging from meats, fish, starches, burgers, hot dogs, stew, vegetables, pasta including mac pie, I often did not know what to chose! there is also a great selection of deserts. I think for the size of the hotel the buffet variety is fantastic and the quality of the food is amazing. Drifters serves buffets 5 nights a week. I did not eat there at night however those who did loved it!

The hotel has a great kids club with great facilities and a vast range of games for all ages. There is a well equipped gym and a lovely spa which I had a manicure and my nails painted.

The hotel is in a fabulous location, its near the historic Garrison, worth walking around, walking distance to the races which are a fab afternoon of fun, easy to catch buses anywhere as there is a bus stop just outside the hotel, you can walk along the beach and then walk along the boardwalk to Accra .. if you don't want to awl back catch the bus although the walk is great! Driving in Barbados is safe and easy, a great way to see the island. bridgetown is a short bus ride away.

A truly wonderful holiday which just gets better and better. Thank you to each and everyone of you for the wonderful holiday you gave us.

Sally and Jan May 2014, see you in November

I could not fault this hotel the staff were excellent, meals excellent, and the rooms were cleaned everyday.
The Gym facilities were the best I have encountered anywhere, Top class gear all in working order.
Lots of beach loungers so there was no need for anyone to stick towels on beds. in fact you could have a lounger in the sun and another in the shade
