“Our stay at in Barbados”
Reviewed 19 April 2012 via mobile

This hotel was adequate for our needs. The rooms were clean possibly in need of an update, but I think this was gradually happening. The breakfast was the only letdown. It was very basic. Eggs seem very important there and got quite boring after 2 weeks. I would ave killed for a rasher of bacon.
The reception staff were fine and the owners were very friendly .
Would I go there again, yes I would fr a budget holiday, as this is a budget hotel with a great beach and we as a group of 10 had a good time

Dear Guest, thanks for the review that you posted about your recent stay with us here at Coconut Court Beach Hotel. I am glad that your group had such a nice time and would return to stay with us again. I read your comments about the breakfast that is complimentary and was included with your room rate Please remember that we offer a free Continental breakfast only. We have added eggs, corn beef hash and baked beans so that we have a protein offering available. Bacon and sausage is always available on the breakfast menu for a small additional cost. Thanks again for your review and take care. Enjoy your summer in lovely Brighton! We hope to welcome you back to Coconut Court Beach Hotel again soon.
Best regards, Linda, Jason, Mark and the team at Coconut Court Beach Hotel

My husband and I with our boys (ages 11 and 9) had a great time at the Coconut! We wish we were still there! The service was great, the room was ultra clean and tidy, and everyone was super friendly and truly nice. Hotel is on the beach so super convenient. You go down some steps and voila! Beautiful pools and sand and ocean. The water was great and sand is super white and all around amazing--actually, in this case, it was like being in the photos on the website. Lots of shady spots under the palm trees. My kids loved riding the reggae buses and eating in Oistens and enjoying all that great food and island ambiance. We love how nice and friendly everyone is and everyone says "hello"--unheard of in big cities. We especially enjoyed the fish cakes and different grilled fish and of course, the famous flying fish which we ate almost daily (and actually saw "flying" out of the water on a catamaran excursion to swim and snorkel with giant turtles--super fun by the way). Again, wish we were still there. Next time, we're staying for AT LEAST 2, maybe 3 weeks! Loved it. Sincerely, Ken, Sandy, Kris, & Alex :) :) :) :) PS.. we found everything truly great value--hotel, fish fry restaurants, buses... Until next time!

Room Tip: I think all the rooms were equally nice. Ours was a corner unit on street level but on the 3rd floo...

We chose this hotel because we had already stayed in a beach hotel, all inclusive scheme that was sensational in Curacao.
To our surprise, the problems began in meals that excluded several dishes and buffet options because of the all inclusive bracelet. This generated a stress on us and, obviously, on the waitresses too. It created an unnecessary  bad athmosphere. I asked what was the definition of the word "all". Only after talking to one woman responsible for the hotel packages  (very helpful and customer oriented) the situation has improved. If I knew the hotel was not prepared for a good all inclusive scheme, I would have avoided all inclusive (that works well in other places) and would have had dinner nearby. There is an amazing Italian  canteen 30 feet away. I would be happier and less mad. You will read people telling that all inclusive is not an option anymore but than read other people complaining about it one month after. So, don't trust if the hotel offers it.
The restaurant, as another guest said, is attacked by birds all the time. Cool in the first five minutes. Once you realize that the birds eat and evacuate over the back of the chairs, realitty changes. So you realize what are those stains on the back of each seat because they must not wash them frequently. A big net would solve it. If there is no solution, avoid breakfast and meals. If you love lots of birds, go to the zoo. They will argument that birds are commom all over. I really have been to many hotels on tropical areas. But had never seen a combination of lots of hungry, big and fast birds + big stains on chairs. If they cannot avoid birds, they should at least do better at cleaning or they should buy new chairs every month. Just telling there is nothing much to do reflects the way the hotel is managed.
The beach is good, but not because of the hotel. Kudos to the nature. For those who have been well served in Curacao, this here is poor service.
But in the end, the hotel is not expensive. You can choose it but being aware of many things and not only getting enchanted by some nice reviews. Mostly if you are not over 65.
Rooms: Avoid the old wing because it is dark and cramped. Ask for rooms of the new wing and the top floor, or else, choose another hotel. The difference is amazing. But be prepared to walk your lugagge on many stairs. :)
For diving, Barbados is great!
Walking around the island it shows clearly that Barbados has had a heyday some 30 years ago and never invested. There is a lot of older buildings needing to be renewed. Public transportation is crazy. Cheap but crazy. For long rides around the island, find a good airconditioned cab. You have Animal Flower Cave, which is very far. See the Atlantic side and get impressed with gigantic waves on the cliff. See the mushroom rocks. Dive and see MANY recks. Everything is far from this hotel.
The good news is that Barbados IS being renewed. There are several new buildings and shopping malls. Maybe by the end of 2013 it will be ready and wonderful. If you love old staff, be fast, it won't last. But if you really like old good stuff, go to colonial Tiradentes or Mariana in Brazil or Colombia or Mexico.
But hurry up because prices start rising in Barbados. Rihanna is doing well her job as poster girl. You will see hotels charging $ 3,000 for a room!
I leave a low score on this hotell because it looks wonderfully evaluated on this page and you may be frustated. This  is  2 star max Hotel. If you never traveled before and don't care, you can go. If you have been in many nice places before, just don't get too impressed by the reviews, mostly if you are not over 65. See it for yourself.

We had an enjoyable week staying at the Coconut Court. It is in a great location on the edge of Bridgetown. We rented a car but the bus service that ran right outside the hotel looked great. The hotel is on a busy road but we didn't really notice the noise much. Our room was very spacious, clean with nice decor. We didn't use the pool (its quite small) but did spend time on the nice beach.
Breakfast was included and it was had hot and cold options. The menu was basic but tasty. Typically eggs (hard boiled, scrambled or fried), toast, quick breads, and oatmeal and cold cereal. The food was a little boring after a few days. Staff was friendly.
If you are looking for a luxury or high end resort this is not the place for you. If you want a place to sleep while you explore the island you will likely be happy here.

Room Tip: Lower rooms have easy access parking.

We have just returned from a week at the Coconut Court and were really pleased overall with our choice of hotel, particularly in this price range. On our previous visit we had stayed in St Lawrence Gap and were looking for somewhere in the same area, but we ended up at Coconut Court which is a taxi ride away from the bars and restaurants of St Lawrence. However, the location is great, only about 20 minutes from the airport, close enough to plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, right opposite a bus stop and on a really lovely beach.

The hotel is not a luxury one but when you're in Barbados you don't want to be spending any time indoors so it is perfectly good for what we needed - it was very clean, the bed was big and comfortable and there was a balcony with a beautiful sea view. There is a safe in the wardrobe which is free of charge, plus iron, ironing board and hairdryer. There was a good air conditioning unit.If you want to do a bit of self catering there is a fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and hob and kitchen sink, along with cups, plates etc. The bathroom was extremely basic and small, a very simple shower, sink and toilet but again clean and well kept and there was always hot water.

We were bed and breakfast and, again, the breakfast is basic compared to what you might get in a lot of hotels, but if you're happy with some scrambled egg on toast and some cereal then it's fine. The restaurant is right on the beach so you can eat looking out at the sea. I can't comment on the all inclusive meals, but the sandwiches and burgers in the beach bar were perfectly fine for a quick lunch without leaving the beach. The beach bar is great for happy hour beers between 12 and 1 and again between 5 and 6.

The beach is a real selling point of the hotel, walk straight onto it from your room and there are loads of loungers and plenty of shade from the palm trees. The sea there has some rocks but they act as a break to the waves so it makes a lovely little calm cove when the tide is out. It was kept really clean, they even sweep away all the seaweed every day and we didn't get a single mosquito bite. It was also quiet and not at all crowded, with no hassle from people trying to sell things.

The only negative point I can make about the hotel was that at night it was very noisy as our room was on the road side and the traffic noise was very loud through most of the night. If you want a luxury resort-style hotel then this is not for you but if you just want a clean, comfortable base right on the beach and near to anywhere you could want to go, then I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you can get a room that does not have a window out to the road side then go for it as the front f...

Excellent value for money. Staff very friendly and helpful, rooms spacious, clean and well kitted out. We were on the top floor, which was a bit of a climb up 50steps, however the view from our balcony was magnificent & worth the climb, but people with limited mobility should make sure they are not on the top two floors. Everything worked, from the air-con to the shower gel dispenser. A good family hotel, catering for all ages. The beach was raked every morning; there was no litter and no screaming children. There were plenty of sunbeds and shade and the beach was never crowded. Food was well cooked and the barbecues round the pool were lovely. Easy to get around by bus with a stop right outside the hotel, taxis were readily available and not expensive. There are some very good restaurants within walking distance from the hotel and it is also easy to hire a car from the hotel. The only criticism we had was the coffee - never fresh and always stewed, unless you came down to breakfast at 7am! Freshly made coffee for each individual table would have been so much nicer.
In spite of the stewed coffee, we would certainly stay there again, as it was a minor irritation.

Room Tip: Go for the top floors if you are fit and in good health, otherwise ask for rooms on the lower floors...

Just back from Coconut Court and found it very friendly and comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was a bit crowded and though the food could have been a bit more varied it was quite tasty. Our room was large with a good sized balcony and kept very clean, the view was fabulous. Public transport was very conveniently located right outside the hotel but be prepared for a bit of a culture shock using it. Rough and ready is the expression which springs to mind, but it does get you from point A to point B cheaply if not in comfort. The beach at the hotel and the hotel itself seemed well looked after. This is not a 4 or 5 star resort but is very good value for the money.
