Good: Big room with fridge, kettle, microwave, safe, hairdrier; everywhere kept very clean; right on the beach with plenty of sunbeds, nice little beach bar

Bad: Poor breakfast in chaotic dining room; poor standard of evening meal; awful live music; reception area not welcoming; old and inadequate shower; on a noisy main road with not much close by without walking along the busy main road where the pavement is intermitent

Writing this in the bar having just checked-out and drinking a beer served with one of the loveliest smiles you will see which sums up the experience. We were here as part of a cricket watching tour and have told the organiser we would be happy to stay here again next time England are playing in Barbados. We would also be happy to holiday here.
Took the trouble to find out about the hotel before coming and the general consensus does not lie. It is "family run" rather than "corporate" style; the people are friendly and engaging; the beach is great (pity it wasn't turtle season). Do not come here if you want pampering luxury but do give it a try if you want clean, spacious rooms, value for money and the chance to relax.
A few words of caution, no lifts and an inclined site mean it might be hard for the less mobile and you are on a main road with some noise (you are also on the beach with a different, soothing noise from the sea).

I have been to Coconut Court, many years ago, and it doesn't seem to have changed much, and it was lovely then. I have since been to, D.R., and Cuba. I find the people who have nothing nice to say, probably never have anything nice to say. You are visiting a tropical Island where moisture, mildew and bugs are part and parcel of the experience! If you want perfection... stay at home where you obviously have no paint peeling, no flies, or roaches, no rusty lawn furniture, and where you do everything for yourself.! Bugs and tropical climates just go together, if this is a problem go to the lakes close to your city and deal with the cold, rain, mosquitoes and black flies. It is true that you get treated like you treat others and I have Always been happy, wherever I go. Sun, sand warmth and friendly locals make my holidays Great!! Go to enjoy ,and enjoy you shall. It makes me angry to hear these negative reviews so this is my reply to them.

Room Tip: I traveled years ago probably 1993. I was in a ground floor room just the beach. We had some dishe...

We stayed at the Coconut Court Hotel during half term 2014 as part of an extended family including 2 children.

We had the most fabulous time. This hotel is wonderful - The rooms were huge and very nicely furbished, the surroundings were lovely and very clean and well maintained. The food in the deck restaurant was beautiful and very reasonable. The staff (with the exception of Tyrone the taxi driver) were very helpful and polite. The position is perfect - fantastic beach with lots of natural shade and free sunbeds.

We can't think of a bad word to say about this hotel, Oh, except that having read some other reviews we took our own bar of soap as yes, one of the soap dispensers was blocked. But hey - who cares!

Would love to return one day - anyone who has already booked - you are in for a treat

Dear Friend, thank you for taking a few moments to write this lovely review for us. We are very pleased that you had such a great time with us. Sorry about the soap dispenser - you will be pleased to know that we have implemented a new policy - our housekeeping staff now empties and thoroughly cleans each dispenser prior to guest arrival - hopefully that will take care of this pesky problem. However, if this happens at anytime during your next visit then please let housekeeping know and they will send a member of the team up to deal with it right away. Thanks again for choosing Coconut Court - we appreciate your business. Take care and have a great summer. Linda Jason, Mark and your friends at The Coconut!

Had a wonderful time at the Coconut Court Beach Hotel.
Had the Ocean front superior room very clean.
If you wanted to eat out you would need to get a taxi to local restaurants not many near by - or we didn't find them.
Would definitely go again.
Not a place for singles as no "night life" and not really for little ones as no facilities for them. Hotel seemed to be for 45+ age group which suited us.
Beach was clean. Being really picky grit/stones entering the sea; sea shoes would be good available from the hotel shop.

The Coconut Court is a great value hotel on a beautiful beach and is a fab choice for the price when compared with other hotels. As we were staying for 2 weeks we chose an ocean view studio and it had everything we needed – large room, huge bed and a kitchen area with all the facilities needed to make your own meals (fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, hob, sink and all utensils although we did buy some extra mugs as the ones provided are small). Given that eating out in Barbados can be expensive, we found it quite easy to manage on a budget by being able to make our own breakfast / lunch. That said, the food at the hotel was also very good but it’s nice to have the option of eating in.

All staff we met were friendly - obviously everyone reading tripadvisor reviews will know about Antonio and he really is the best bartender in Barbados. He works so hard, particularly during the manic happy hours when there is literally a stampede to his bar. Happy hour beer works out at just over £1 a bottle or £1.30 for a rum punch so the stampede is understandable but he deals with it great.

There is live music quite a few nights a week and the manager’s cocktail party on Monday is a nice touch – free rum punch. Another nice touch is the complimentary rum on arrival. We did Teds Tour which was great and highly recommended (and of course included more rum punch!). Other hotel extras include the daily shuttle bus to Bridgetown, supply of beach towels and free WiFi.

There are a few places immediately outside the hotel (Mama Mia, Blue Room, convenience store) and other places are not very far via the Boardwalk or the road. It seemed to take about 10 minutes to walk to the imart supermarket / Lanterns shopping mall, Tapas and a few minutes more to Rockely Beach. We did say it would be nice to be in the centre near Rockley Beach as there are a lot more bars / restaurants but on the other hand, I suspect resorts there are more expensive and the beach is really busy – at least at Coconut Court the beach is quiet with plenty of sunbeds. And once you get the hang of using the ZR buses the location is not really an issue at all – they are great for getting you up and down the highway outside the hotel quickly and seem to appear as soon as you get near a bus stop. They do however beep their horns a lot and as others have said, you can hear the road noise quite a bit in your room as the doors open onto the road outside (hotel corridor is not enclosed). This was a bit annoying at first but you get used to it and on a morning I could tell when it was time to get up from the sound of the traffic! Again most hotels along the south coast must get this issue and it’s not a showstopper – if you think it would bother you it may be worthwhile taking some ear plugs but you do get used to it (maybe all the rum punch helps!).

My only other minor gripe is that whilst the bathrooms in the ocean view studio are very nice / modern the shower head is fixed to the wall and ours was really high up so for a small person like me the shower was a bit of a drizzle. But these minor points aside, it’s a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Our ocean view studio had everything we needed so would probably choose the same roomtype if we visi...

Pictures were great, rooms weren't like the pictures, heard that story before. We got the "Tired" room as Ali1965 said. Never have expectations, I did and shouldn't have. I previously read about the restaurant staff being unfriendly, hasn't changed although there was a gentleman that was very nice. Our group of ten wanted to have a dinner meeting in the restaurant however there were a few of us that would not be eating, on those grounds they refused to put a table for 10 together for us in the almost empty dinning room. We went to the Italian restaurant across the street without a reservation and they made room for us. All of us did end up eating. Never went back to the restaurant.
The rooms were clean, most of the staff were friendly, some all the time, some until they realized you needed something however "need's" were met quickly. One of our group members had a bad leg and before arrival we tried to get a ground floor room because everything is "walk up". We were told they would do their best, she got the 3rd floor, 2 days later they moved her to the 2nd floor. Thank you for that. My wife and I were expecting (there's that word again) a double bed, we got 2 twins pushed together and instead of 1 sheet there was a sheet for each bed so there was a nice gap in the middle. One of our couples were friends and wanted to separate the beds however the end tables were nailed to the wall so the beds couldn't be separated. Not good. 2 of the wooden chairs had small nails sticking out of them, small cut on right arm, no big deal. Showers are small but again no big deal, you get wet then you dry off.
Great beach, good swimming. Bar staff and security guard were very friendly. Our room wasn't far from the live music but it was shut down at a reasonable time.
Would I go back to this hotel? If I had known what I was getting in advance, yes however advertise what is available so there is no misunderstandings. Am I going back to this hotel, no. Would I suggest this hotel to someone looking for clean bare bones, probably.

Room Tip: I have heard some complain about the noise from the road but I didn't really notice it much. As...
