“Great Location and Beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

We have visited The Coconut Beach twice now, in January 2013 and January 2014. We greatly enjoyed both visits, the location is great and the beach with the safe bathing is fantastic. On our second visit we had a recently refurbished superior room with an excellent view of the sea and beach. However, we felt that there were problems with the shower area which needs sorting in that the water escaped the tray and flooded the bath mat and a good bit of the floor each day. Also the towels had holes in them and needed replacing. - Not really good enough for a superior room. The breakfasts also need upgrading with more variety each day. Overall we felt that the standard had slipped very slightly this year, but still a wonderful place and there are loads of restaurants nearby. The staff are excellent.

When the floor cleaner at this hotel turns around & asks how your day was while working, and when you say “it was great, we really enjoyed the beach”, and he answers “I prayed the Lord no wind, no rain for our guests” you know you’re really close to heaven! This was one of the examples one can come across when staying at the Coconut Court Beach Hotel!

They scrub the tiled walkways, the stairs, the rooms, and the balconies at this hotel… really every single day. It smells clean, it feels clean even with the sand all around!

I love this hotel … can you tell? The driver who picked us up from the airport asked us if it was our first time… then he became our tour guide until we got to the hotel. After he dropped us off we already knew where to go for our little shopping ☺ The welcome at the front desk was like we were the VIPs and the only VIPs at the hotel… the smile & the patience to all of our questions were appreciated (@Janelle – thank you so much)!

The food … the food … the food … we ate at the hotel buffet 3 times. We were prepared for the curry night before we even arrived, but we also joined the bbq buffet at Manager’s party on Monday night (yummmi rum punch), then the curry night and the Bajan night. All the dinners, the setting of the restaurant and the ladies who served were unbeatable.

The other nights we ate at the fantastic Oisten Fish Market (separate review will go to Chillin & Grillin guys Richard and Rob).

And, short but to the point report about the beach at this hotel: “Heaven on earth”. Take your snorkel gear with you, and you will have a lot of fun until you hear the bell ring at 5pm … Then Antonio’s 2 for 1 rum punch show starts ☺ side note-I think Antonio has a grasshopper in him :D Watch him running the orders to the customers on the sand (I barely can walk straight ... but him …)

Overall, what an island, what a hotel … and the people of this island … Thank you all for our fantastic 1 week vacation. We’ll be back soon.

Room Tip: Ocean view room is the way go ...

I stayed at the Coconut Court during the last week of June 2014. I found it to be a great experience. The room was clean and well-situated, and the staff was extremely professional, courteous, and helpful. With a fully-equipped kitchenette inside the room it was about as convenient as living at home, and there was a very nice view from the balcony. Also, it is located right on a major bus and cab route, so I was able to get to any location easily. I thouroughly enjoyed it, and will book there again on my next trip....

The location of the hotel was good, staff was wonderful. Be forewarned, they charge your credit card $350 for damages when you arrive, which is refunded when you leav e- but it was a bit of a shock. Breakfast at the hotel is okay but pricey - you can get a good breakfast down the street at the Coffee bean. If you are seeking a quiet hotel, this is not necessarily for you - The rooms are on the road, so you hear the beeping horns and traffic - Plus there is a rooster who crowed at the crack of dawn! However, for a less expensive option that is conveniently located and on the beach, it's a great choice.

During the last week of June we spent a week at the Coconut Court Hotel in Barbados, and it has to be one of the best holidays I have ever had. This was our first visit to Barbados and it was a special visit to celebrate my 50th birthday. I can only recommend the Coconut Court with the highest of praise, it is an extremely well managed property, situated on one of the nicest beach areas I have ever experienced.

It is difficult to decide where to start. Ok, all the staff were extremely pleasant and went out of their way to make their guests feel welcomed and happy. We booked an ocean view room with a preference for the fourth or fifth (top) floor and were given room 114 on the fourth floor, and it was wonderful. The room was large, clean, the beds were very comfortable, the aircon worked perfectly, and the room was equipped with basic kitchenware, kettle and microwave and fridge so we could easily prepare our morning breakfast and snacks. As soon as we arrived we went to the Tri-Mart grocery store in Worthington to stock up for our week long visit.

The amazing balcony provided us with a drop dead amazing full-on ocean and beach view. I have never experienced such a fabulous view from my hotel room in all my 50 years, and having our breakfast on our balcony, watching the ocean was just incredible.

The location of the Coconut Court Beach Hotel is fabulous .. It is a golden location. You are just a ten minute walk to all amenities, restaurants, shops, convenience stores, and you’re only 10 minutes away from the Oisten fish market by the shared busses. Bridgetown is also just ten minutes away.

The beach at the Coconut Court Hotel is amazing. There are plenty of loungers, and the water is wonderful. There is a small reef in waist deep water close to shore and we brought our masks and snorkels and enjoyed viewing the tropical fishes that can be seen by the reef. The reef calms the water and it is perfectly safe. We spent our first few days just relaxing at the beach area in front of the hotel, and there is plenty of shade under the palm trees the line the shore for those who want it.

Before our breakfast we walked along the beach shore to the boardwalk which is a lovely way to start your day. Just throw on your shorts, a t-shirt, hat, and flip flops and head out walking eastward along the beach at the shorefront of the hotel. You will pass breath-taking beach views one after another and be amazed at the tropical beauty.

If you walk heading west along the beach you will come to the Hilton, and then pass the Hilton front entrance and taxi stand, you will find Pebbles Beach on Carlyle Bay. We actually ended up spending several full days at Pebbles Beach as the water, silky sand, and aqua green water was perhaps the nicest beach we have ever experienced. It is a lovely 15 minute beach front walk from the Coconut Court, and we spent literally from 10 am until sunset at this amazing beach. We would spend long periods of time in the water, which is waist deep, a very calm, and wonderfully warm. It was heaven like. The shore is lined with trees to provide shade as required.

During the week days (in low season late June) we would have the whole beach to ourselves. It was amazing. On weekends the local Barbadians would come to enjoy the beach too, and like all of Barbados, it is perfectly safe in all respects. Bring a hat, sunscreen and even an SPF swimming skin if you are prone to sunburn as the sun is intense at this lattitude.

For lunch while at Pebble Beach I strongly recommend getting freshly made flying fish cutter sandwiches from Lefties, which is owned by Andrew, who is one heck of a nice fellow who puts his heart and soul into preparing nice food. Each cutter is about $4 USD and it makes a lovey lunch. The Lefties cutter stand is located in the parking lot adjacent to the shower, change and washroom facility right on the beach.

We enjoyed three of the buffet dinners at the Coconut Court hotel, which are served on the hotel’s lovely ocean front restaurant, which provided a wonderful ambience and dining experience. The buffets are offered most nights of the week and priced at approximately $25/person, represent very fair value given the wonderful quality of the Bajan food, and the amazing location.

One night we thoroughly enjoyed a fish dinner and salad bar at the Barbadian chain restaurant Chefette / BBQ Barn, which is just down the road from the hotel. And the other nights we had dinner at the fabulous Chillin' and Grillin' fresh fish restaurant at the Oisten fish market. Tell Rob and Roger at Chillin' and Grillin' that Henry from Canada recommended them. Both Oisten’s and Chefette average $35-$40 USD for a very filling fresh fish dinner for two with all the fixins (including the Banks beers!) You will be very satisfied!

In all, we had an amazing time in Barbados, and are grateful that we chose to stay at the Coconut Court Hotel. It was the best location, the nicest people, the most amazing beaches, and our one week visit flew by so quickly. And all we did was relax and swim each day, although one day we did take a city bus to Barthsheba just to have a look.

This was a dream holiday for us, with memories that will last a lifetime. It does require savings and a budget, and when our budget can allow in the future, we will once again return to enjoy the amazing beauty and friendliness of Barbados and the Coconut Court

The fact that it was a repeat stay (for me) is testimony in itself. Having stayed at Coconut Court 4/5 times now, the service has improved but I was a little disappointed in the food - less tasty than I would have liked. The $350 tab for damages was also a new feature (and a surprise) but I can appreciate why it is necessary. The rooms are still well maintained and staff very friendly. Good pool, bar and beach access (a nice trilogy!). The hotel is based in a good location and caters for all types of visitors: family, couples and solos. I would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: It is worth upgrading to a superior ocean view room. Spacious and with all the facilities and featur...

1.Good clean hotel with friendly, courteous and pleasant staff. Room clean and presentable with good house keeping service.Good value for money if willing to shop around for deals. Breakfast needs more variety of local fruits than bananas and apples - what about sliced melons, mangoes etc. I definitely recommend the flying fish breakfast but you need to cover your food when going to the breakfast bar for drinks, toasts etc to keep the birds from helping themselves. Good views to the sea while having breafkast.Very pleasant staff at breakfast and helpful. Also adding mauby to your breakfast juices I thought is a good suggestion. What do you think?
2. Meals are expensive - reduce the price to entice more people and therefore reduce waste.
3. Good sized room with basic kitchen amenities e.g, fridge freezer, microwave, iron and ironing board. Disappointed re TV which I believe needs upgrading to a flat screen. TV reception very poor which did not improve during our stay although the maintenance guy came out to try and resolve it. The last 48 hours there was no TV reception and when I telephoned switchboard to report it I was told that there was problems with the server and that they were dealing with it. It would have been nice to have been informed by reception that there was a problem. It would have been nice to have the choice of additional channels even if one has to pay extra.
4. There are no clocks in the room which can be a little disorientating coming off a long flight (Some of the new TV 's have inbuilt digital clocks) or just simply have a wall clock.
5. There were problems with the room safe - sometimes we were unable to access as it was not recognising our code therefore resulting in having to call maintenance to sort it.
6. Very pleased that there was free wifi for guests.
7. Location good and convenient to the bank, supermarket, launderette, Virgin Atlantic office, takeaways, digicel, etc.
8. Evening entertainment was good and the complimentary drinks was a good idea as an enticer.
9. We had initially booked for 1 week only but this was extended for an additional week (having such a good time). We felt that we could have remained in the same room but this was apparently already booked and we had to leave. There were no standard rooms available and it was going to be costly to upgrade further as we needed 3 rooms with breakfast. We then started looking at hotels close by within our budget as we were prepared to move hotels. However, we were pleased that Coconut Court Beach hotel agreed to book us into an upgraded room at the standard room rate (as a gesture of good will) which I think was 'excellent'. However, although appreciative of the offer we were a little concerned as we felt we were banished to a basement room as the corridor seemed unappealing with exposed drains and rusting grates along the corridor to our rooms. On rainy days we saw crabs crawling from the drains, not nice. Generally I think the hotel needs a bit of upgrading as it is looking a little 'tired' in some areas. However, the upgraded room was 'Great'.
10. The compliementary shuttle to the airport for guests staying longer than 3 nights is good.
Having made my comments I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend others to book and can't wait for my next holiday to Barbados.
