“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2014

If you are looking for value and location, this is the place to stay. Right in the Gap. We spent 2 nights and 3 days , very grateful for the extra hour on checkout. The staff is extremely pleasant and willing to assist!
However our room was average and the bed was two singles pushed together to make a king. Extremely uncomfortable an the bedding created a small "space" between the beds which was uncomfortable. The AC worked great, but there was a lot of noise, noises and music from outside was heard clearly and even the closing and opening of doors could be heard inside he room. TV channels only included the US News channel, and no movie channels at all, very basic and we did not use the TV at all! There was nothing to see, so walk with your personal devices if you want to watch movies.
The refrigerator in the room was also very noisy and could be heard coming on and off

That being said, I can and would consider this hotel to stay again, the good outweighed the bad!. Breakfast was also included in our room and was good.

Just back from 2 weeks at this hotel. Very pleasant. Our room on 2nd floor with balcony overlooking street was a good size and kept very clean. 2 very large single beds, fridge, flat screen tv, phone and a/c. Bathroom clean but needs updating. During our stay the hot water pipe burst somewhere so no hot water for 24hours but not a great problem. Staff very friendly especially Pierre on reception. Food in restaurant excellent value for money, but included continental breakfast the same every day - cereal (in small packs), croissants, toast and apples. Sometimes bananas as well. Would have appreciated the odd boiled egg or some cold meats.
Not all rooms have balcony so if this is important to you make sure you request it on booking. Swimming pool is small but kept clean and set in a nice garden and plenty of sun loungers.
The hotel is opposite Dover Beach, but unfortunately directly across the road is a huge apartment building - Sapphire Beach, which completely hides the view of the sea!
Tuesday nights are quiz night which seems to be popular mainly with the ex-pats, and Saturday night was live music with an excellent band. All in all we thought the hotel was good value for money and would recommend it.

Room Tip: The hotel is no smoking throughout, except pool area and courtyard and on balconies. If you want to s...

We spent 3 nights at the hotel last winter (January 2013). The first impression wasn't positive: the reception staff tried to make us pay more than we should have because they were too lazy to convert the currency properly (we had booked the room using euro). The hotel promotes themselves as a budget hotel but we didn't find the prices low, especially taking into consideration the bad customer service, poor breakfast (only white toast with marmalade and sugary cereals) and an okay room (it was spacious, but beds were not comfy). In general the staff seemed lazy, bored and arrogant.

The location was great, there was a pretty beach with white sand and turquoise water right across the street. There was a pool area at the hotel but we prefered the beach. There were restaurants and bars within a short walking distance.

Dear Noora_H,

Your review is appreciated and we are sorry to hear of the problems you received at check-in and that the complimentary breakfast that was provided for all the guests at the hotel while the restaurant was under renovations, back in January 2013, was not satisfactory. I am happy to advice, that since February 2013 we have a fabulous restaurant in full operation open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We offer very competitive rates and are constantly seeking to provide our guests with warm, friendly customer service. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kindest Regards,
Alicia Farmer

we were given room 229 on the first floor. When you check in you have to sign what can only be described a a contract which gives a list of what you have to pay it you lose keys or smoke in the room and leave a swipe of your credit card. The room we were given did not have a balcony so i requested a change. For days I was fobbed off with "we are fully booked" despite regularly seeing hoards of people being checked in and us being willing to pay for a better room. The room was right above the bar so when they had a band playing, you would have got less noise if you went to sleep on the floor of the bar. Breakfast was a farce as the hot stuff you are not allowed, only croissants and toast. The bar staff on the other hand were great and engaging. Plenty of TV screens to watch sport and happy hour between 17.00 and 19.00 where you get 40% off drinks making a rum and coke or a beer about a pound. In all would not stay again unless the reception staff go on a training course in getting a personality and get a "we can do attitude". Worse hotel reception I have ever encountered and not a smile in sight.

Room Tip: Insist on a balcony and pay the extra. Our safe was in reception but some rooms have safes in the ro...

Dear Migelsussex,

Thank you for your review. The room category booked was a Standard Room and as advertised on our website, these rooms do not have balconies. We are always happy to upgrade our guests to a preferred room category upon request, but even though we had several check outs, we also had many arrivals. Our hotel has been near to 100% booked since January, so we are very sorry we were unable to move you, but we could not grant this request due to the occupancy at the time. Our Front Desk team would also be advised of your comments and I will ensure that through training and constant checks that our guests are greeted with a warm and friendly attitude as expected!

Kindest Regards,
Alicia Farmer

Just returned from a wonderful holiday. For a budget hotel this is great value. Our room was big and airy. The ac very efficient. Lots of storage space and good service re towels and linen. Beach towels provided too. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. We joined in pub quiz on Tues. night with the locals and danced to good band on Sat night. Happy hour drinks at Sporting Pig bar attached to hotel were cheap and pizza was excellent. Breakfast was the same every day but it stated Continental so we didn't expect anything else. Good coffee, plenty of toast, juice and fruit. The only thing we didn't like was TV American news in the bar at breakfast blaring out but we got away from this by eating in the courtyard. Swimming pool area was well kept.
The hotel is right opposite a beautiful beach. No hassle from vendors at all. The Gap felt very safe and everyone was friendly. Big surf at the beach would be difficult for small children - at Worthing beach within walking distance, the sea is calmer. Downside at The Gap - restaurants are all expensive. Beach bar opposite Time Out hotel was more reasonable and food there was fine. For better value food get take the bus to Oistins and eat at the fish market stalls. Delicious and cheaper. Bus trips on reggae buses or official buses only 2 Bajan dollars no matter how far you go.
We loved Barbados and would certainly go back to Time Out. A big thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing pool as far away from bar and beach bar as possible. The Sporting Pig bar isn...

I stayed at this hotel last year October ,it was my second stay there. I enjoyed the room, the atmosphere and the staff was friendly especially Lisa. Breakfast at the hotel was continental and included in the staycation package. I had no problem in that area as it was basic. However, I hate the fact that the channels are so limited, that is one area I think needs reviewing, other than that broad smiles were also there and willingness to help out the guest.I definitely going back again.

Room Tip: stay in the rooms on the second floor with the road view, its excellent
