Time Out Hotel
Reviewed 22 July 2014

I wasn't staying at this property but visited for Breakfast with my kids and was bowled over by the friendly staff, terrific service and beautiful hotel. We will definitely stay here in the future. Barbados is terrific and Time Out is so well located.

We weren't expecting much for the price we paid, but Time Out is brilliant value for a budget hotel. Not plush, but immaculately clean, there seemed to be an army of people constantly cleaning. No negatives, apart from the bathroom could do with an update and the TV reception cut out regularly. Nice pool area, although we went to Dover Beach just across the road which was much more fun. Continental breakfast was fine, other cooked options available for a small price if you wanted them. Great location for the bars and restaurants in the Gap and a supermarket 100 yards away too. The staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful, and that goes for the Bajans generally, everyone we met was friendly. Our first trip to Barbados, but it certainly won't be out last!

Just got back from staying here for 4 nights. It was clean and a decent hotel for this price/quality bracket. Room was a good size, bathroom could do with updating but it wasn't that bad. Shame there was no balcony but we had patio doors facing the cricket field and a tiny bannister which was fine. The AC stopped working properly on the last day. The front desk staff were great. The pool was great too. Didnt try the restaurant but all in all it was a decent hotel. The wifi was good. It dropped out a few ties but never for very long. Having just one key to the room was a bit annoying.and out door would close unless you gave it some force. The bedding needs looking at as the blanket was too short. However, I would recommend this hotel if it is in your budget. The location is right across the road from Dover beach and a 5 mins walk to the bus stop. I would recommend going to Bliss which is in the building next door (next to the card hire place) for your breakfast and meals.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with patio doors or balcony to avoid getting just a window.

Just returned from a two week stay at the Time Out Hotel, We booked last minute and the price we got was great, we wasn't sure what to expect as we had seen ''budget and basic'' written lots on Trip Advisor. In my opinion those words would not come into my review! Our room was huge for what we payed, great little view onto the local football pitch which was fun, flat screen TV (not many channels but it had the world cup on which was great), Wifi, spotlessly clean room I cannot fault this hotel for the price we payed!

The staff were great at the hotel very friendly and durnig our second week we had a problem with the air conditioning, Management switched rooms for us in an instant which was very kind of them.

Pool area was a little quiet but you are 10 steps away from the beach so you can just go there for a livelier sun day.

If you have any second thoughts about staying at time out, ignore them. If you get a great price, book it, my first time in the Caribbean was made great purely by staying at this hotel!

Thanks Time out!!

Totally awesome. We have been to Barbados before and as it was a shorter stay we decided to try this hotel out. Staff are funny and very entertaining and you do feel welcome no matter where you come from.

Time Out Hotel is on St Lawrence Gap so you have a good few miles to walk up the stretch and try out all the different foods and views. If you want some cheap rum the shop underneath the Time Out Hotel is the cheapest when we checked as we went into town to do a little fishing around for the best price.

Although Barbados is very Americanised its a lovely place to travel to and would recommend it to everyone.

Bars are really good but word of warning make sure you go later and don't turn up at 9pm as the parties don't start until 11pm onwards...yes party hard goes on until the early hours of the morning so if you want a quiet evening you may want to choose a hotel lower down as Time Out is in the heart of it although we slept like a log so it didn't bother us at all.

The pool was always kept clean and the Wi-Fi was ok.

Car rental was good, if we had any problems we were advised to call them straight away and they could send someone to assist us if needed.

Tours can be arranged by the hotel and they have some good tours so I recommend try at least one of them.

Staff were always smiling and willing to help where they could and also the hotel manager was also around if required which was really good. I recommend this so try it out.

Room Tip: Make sure you change half your money if from the UK and change the rest in Barbados as the rates are...

I stayed here with my partner the last week in June for her pre birthday treat. The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is in a nice setting however when we spent time there it was very quiet and could of done with some music playing in the background. The location is fabulous and only 1 min walk from a lovely beach and there are loads of bars and restaurants nearby. We walked to the bus stop a few times and got on a bus to the west coast - hole town was beautiful and we also managed to swim around to the Sandy Lane hotel - where I saw Michael Carrick sunbathing. We also went on a catamaran over some ship wrecks and swam with the turtles this was well worth the money - ask at reception we used a company called Stiletto. The only bad thing to say about this hotel was the poor continental breakfast (hence not 5stars) in the end we went next door to a local cafe 30 seconds walk away who did amazing smoothies. We had lots of nice meals but the 2 places I would recommend are Tides a nice sea front restaurant in Hole town and Cin Cin a really fantastic fine dining restaurant set on a cliff over looking the sea both meals cost £150 for both of us and that included 3 courses and a nice bottle of wine, coffee etc. One day we hired a car and spent the morning driving around the island - the east coast has the Atlantic Ocean, huge waves and a much more dramatic scenery . I cannot recommend Barbados enough and we definitely plan to go back next year. As a base to explore the island St Lawrence Gap and Time Out Hotel are ideal.
