“Another perfect stay....”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

Another perfect stay at the beautiful Southern Palms on Dover beach.. the most gorgeous beach in Barbados! This charming colonial style hotel is extremely well managed and all their staff are super friendly. The hotel is perfectly located in the lively St. Lawrence Gap area that features all kinds of restaurants, bars and night life. This time my mother and I chose to stay closer to the hotel and simply unwind to the rhythm of the sea. We enjoyed fantastic sea side meals in both the more formal dining room and the smaller bar area resto while listening to live music on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturday nights. There is a great long standing traditional brunch on Sundays with the Barbados Steel from noon to 3pm and it attracts quite a crowd so booking in advance is strongly suggested. We have only arrived home but can't wait to go back!!! Oh...Southern Palms .. your sparkling turquoise waters, soft white sandy beach, swaying palm trees and soothing tropical trade winds can't be beat!!! See you again soon... J & J

i had a lovely time here and enjoyed our room with sea view and Dover beach is very beautiful and idyllic. The service was good and i enjoyed the high tea on offer in the afternoon (free) and the free use of watersports equipment - especially as my funds were low after paying for this holiday!

I wasn't too keen on the food - aside from the hotel's fishcakes which were very addictive. happy hour at the bar 6-7pm i went to quite a few times too. I liked getting to explore Barbados and eating at local diners and then returning to my lovely airconditioned room!

I would stay here again if I could afford it but I would highly recommend here for your first stay in Barbados. Next time if i can't afoord to stay here i might be adventurous and try an apartment however it would eb a shame not to wake up next to Dover beach as it is so beautiful.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are lovely.

Just back from Southern Palms Hotel. Fab Hotel. Rooms spacious décor maybe a bit dated for some people's taste but we thought it had a great Caribbean feel and it was kept spotlessly clean. What a fab location right on what must be one of the best beaches in Barbados. White sand, palm trees and beautiful clear blue sea what more could anyone ask for ? Staff really friendly Food was very good as well. A few nights they had entertainment - a steel band and a group (Syndikit I think) with a really good girl singer. You couldn't find a better place to chill out on the beach in a lovely hotel. Would go back in a minute.

We have the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation at the Southern Palms Hotel every year, a great place to meet people, enjoy the beautiful beaches, good entertainment and food.
The friendly and courteous staff at the Southern Palms Hotel welcomes us at arrival like family and makes our stay there a pleasure. We plan on returning many more times.

What a great hotel! Fantastic location with idyllic view. The beach is stunning.
Richard and Alison working at reception were both very helpful.
Our room had a full sea view, was spacious and very comfortable.
Across the road we found Happy Days for breakfast, Pablo Dontes for great BBQed food and the small bar at the stake house grill for our evening drinks prior to hitting the bars and restaurants further down at the Gap.
The car park bar had a terrific atmosphere which really kicked in after 11pm with music videos playing and everyone having a great time.
For a really good fun night do not miss the harbour lights!
There are numerous good restaurants including the waterside, Bellinis, the rush, crave, harlequin and the Indian / Thai one.
There were several small bars serving the local Bank beers including Daddy's.
The catamaran trip was a must swimming with the turtles and stopping for lunch at the number 1 Sandy Lane Bay. Rum punch did have a punch!
The local people were all so friendly.
What a great holiday and a great island.

Had fab 7 nights at Palms, originally booked super saver room but upgraded once got here as super saver is just a room so worth paying extra for balcony and beautiful view of beach (room 315).

Bar staff lovely and evening entertainment was nice. Barbados steel Band, Jazz band, all really good.
All staff fab and very welcoming Edric the porter arranged for a cab for the day to take us all round island, as we know island well and wanted to show friends, he took us anywhere we wanted, stopped off to take photos anytime we wanted. Bathsheba amazing, took us to local cafe had traditional lunch.
He even let us drop off at family house! Then surprised us took down Sandy Lane and fed wild Monkeys. Fab day and only charged £35 each for 5 of us so ask Edric for his friend Adrian if there is group of you well worth it.

Also recommend day on Cool Runnings , the crew on there great fun and lunch was fab. Only downfall was whole day of rain but we still enjoyed dancing and music.

Tried most of restaurants on Gap. Everyone rates Harlequin but The Crave value for money, happy hour 6 - 8 , we ate there twice we loved it so much, staff so friendly, ok you may get hassled a bit from the guy outside inviting you in but it's his job and they need the business but i highly recommend it.

Well what can't say, have tears in my eyes now as flying out today but will be back soon. Thanks Barbados for once again giving me fab memories Will miss you all

brilliant. Visited the island for the 12th time but our first stay at the Southern Palms. This visit our daughter and her family came and was very well received and looked after. Our grandchidren aged 3 and 6 had a fab time, the staff were really friendly and made sure they enjoyed themselves. Jonathan aged 6 loved playing mini golf and would have played all day and night if allowed the man in the sports hut really looked after him.our grandaughter who is 3 was looked after by a great guy who put out the sun parasols and bed mats by filling up her paddling pool every morning. I know you must think its crazy taking a paddling pool but we knew she would be safe and it kept her cool. The only downside was the cost of breakfast and other beverages in the hotel. Why they add on a service charge to everything you buy from the bar area is a new one on me. I could understand if we was a visitor to the hotel but not a guest. This was mentioned to the food and drink manager at the managers rum punch party.

Room Tip: our room was great with a great view
