Great hotel! My room was right on the beach. It had a small kitchenette with refrigerator and kettle for making tea. There is a convenience shop to left of the entrance of the hotel where you can buy everything you might need. There are little cafes and restaurants nearby. Good free wifi everywhere. A/C works when you are in the room. Nice bedding and good water pressure in shower. Not fancy but very clean and confortable. Staff very helpful especially Jenni in guest services. Will be back.

Room Tip: #128 Capri. Free standing from the rest of the hotel. Own little courtyard next to Ladysmith.

This was our 3rd visit to Southern Palms, hopefully not the last. We chose a return trip because there is no where else that matches this wonderful place, right on the beach with white sand and blue sea perfect for celebrating our silver wedding..Everybody is so friendly and helpful.

Although my family and I have travelled to much of the Caribbean this was our first time to Barbados. St Lawrence Gap was a 20 min transfer from the airport (we had bus transfers on arrival and a taxi transfer back - which meant not leaving the hotel/resort to early).
St Lawrence is lively, beaches are good (it was a little windy when we stayed but nice all the same) and the hotel was right on the beach. Our room had pool, beach and sea views and was on the second floor with a good sized balcony terrace (this is also where your fridge and tea/coffee making facilities are) the room was a good sized double with plenty of wardrobe space for 2 people, the bathroom was clean with a vanity sink, loo, and a walk in shower (these are not big showers so watch your elbows and don't drop anything) the water pressure however was great (hairdryer took an age to dry my hair so if you have lots of locks take something with you or start drying your hair an hour before you need to go out). The Beds are big and comfortable and the house keeping is fab.
The reviews from most other travellers was pretty much correct so we knew what we were getting before we arrived.
If you can hire a car as there's lots to do and beaches to visit not too far away and you can fit a couple in in one day. Depending on where you eat and drink this varies from cheap to reasonable in price and quality is varied again this depends on what you like. The Roti huts provide good lunch time food and nice cold beers.
We were also lucky enough to witness a turtle coming onto the beach to lay her eggs which was amazing. We would definitely return to this hotel and resort it seemed to have a much nicer vibe than some of the others.

We came here off season (July 14) to get cheap rates, and it was wonderful. Rooms are mid-range, but perfectly comfortable, with massive terraces attached. Main advantage is the location: slap bang on Dover Beach - pale sand, blue sea, and no competition for sunbeds or palm trees on the beach, although I bet it will be a different story in high season. Staff are lovely, and always willing to help with anything. Would come back as soon as possible!

Room Tip: Ask for a terrace room. It really doesn't matter if it's overlooking the pool or gardens.

Arrived here on Thursday 3rd July and stayed on the island for one week. On arrival we were greeted by the receptionist, who showed us to our room. The room was basic but had a lovely pool and beach view. The hotel itself had lovely friendly staff, good food and live entertainment throughout the week. This hotel is ideally situated right on the beach front and just a short walk away from many bars and restaurants. Overall, a great getaway in a relaxing environment!

Went with the family for a long weekend in June 2014, a quaint hotel, with ocean view rooms, and balconies that open onto the beach. Great breakfast friendly and lovely staff who cater to your every needs. Situated in busy St. Lawrence gap with nice restaurants and nightlife, perfect for those who don't want to rent a car. Bus and route Taxis can be had for 1.50 BBD to Bridgetown just outside the gap. Would definitely visit again!!!

Room Tip: Stay in ocean front rooms where you can come out and sip beers on the balcony while viewing and hea...
