Just spent 10 nights here and enjoyed every minute of it. The people are fantastic, especially our housekeeper Marcia. Rose at the front desk fixed us up with a great island tour. The views and the sound of the ocean from the deck are breath taking. We spent hours here. Internet is great. The restaurant is awesome if you don't feel like venturing out-food is very reasonable and very good. Both the bar tender and cook are adorable. It is noisy at night, but you are in the centre of what the Gap has to offer. There are merchants right outside your door, and Many restaurants and night life. Would come back in a heart beat.

This hotel is a 60 second walk away from a small supermarket. A 2 minute walk away from a jaw dropping beach, and has Restaurants and bars surrounding it. I don't usually stay in hotels like this. However we decided on a whim to go to Barbados and this was the best mix of location and price available at such short notice. I can only imagine that the low star rating for this hotel is because of the noise during the night - because the rooms, views, cleanliness and service would not be out of place in a five star hotel. The rooms are very large, and equipped with microwave, ipod speaker dock, alarm clock, hob cooker, fridge and a freezer. There is a fairly large balcony and the view is something I will never forget. The location is fantastic. We are both in our mid twenties and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the nightlife right on our doorstep. There are two negatives. The hotel is noisy during the nights (due to its close proximity to so many bars). Now I had heard several horror stories on various websites about this issue and had packed ear plugs for us. However I did not find it anywhere near as noisy as we had been led to believe and we didn't even use the ear plugs. So I am not sure if we just got lucky with the room provided to us. It is fairly noisy, but certainly not intolerable. The second negative I really do have a problem with. You can not step outside the hotel without being harassed by somebody trying to sell you drugs. Now I am aware that the reason we were singled out is because we are fairly young. The issue I have is that the same people are repeatedly trying to sell drugs, knowing that you have told them several times previously you are not interested. One night this did cause an argument between us as I was apparently rude to somebody who offered me drugs for the 20th time in 3 nights. This can't be blamed on the hotel though. Harlequins restaurant next door is not cheap but the food is fantastic. We went there on our last night and it was a great way to say goodbye to Barbados.

I would like to thank you for writing such a fantastic review of our hotel! It is wonderful that you were so impressed with our rooms, amenities, service and location. I am also happy that you will never forget our view. :)
It is also great news that your experience with us surpassed your expectations with regard to the noise and your usual preference for hotels.
Our location is indeed superb for persons who are interested in experiencing all that Barbados has to offer. St. Lawrence Gap provides easy access to transportation, beaches and various dining spots.
With regard to the last part of your review, I would just like to mention that we have passed your comments on to the authorities. The police have assured me that they have established groups which are currently working to address any issues.
Thank you once again and I do hope that you will return to Barbados and to South Gap Hotel in the near future.

Yes the music was really loud and those who are bothered by that...will be bothered by that. But to be able to wake up and drink coffee on the balcony whilst looking out for turtles and dealing with the nicest and sweetest staff ever cannot be sniffed at.

This was our fourth stay at the South Gap hotel and did not disappoint. From the moment you arrive it is smiles all the way from the handy man to the manager, Cecile, who always finds it in her way to come speak. Rooms were clean and comfy and all the exterior has been repainted since our last visit to give it a more contemporary look.

All the rooms overlook the ocean so its calming to have the balcony doors open all night and take in the sounds of the sea.

The food is good and plenty of it! And the bar was good too!! Rose, Jordon and Dominic always ready with the rum sours and my glasses of wine.

The manager even found time to come and say goodbye on our last day. Thats the kind of extra thought that goes to make this small hotel what it is.

Can`t wait to go back.

Room Tip: All rooms are at the back and overlook the ocean.

Andrea,

It was an absolute pleasure having you and your family with us for the fourth year in a row!

I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us yet again. We are so blessed to have not only wonderful staff but to have wonderful guests like you and Russell that add so much to this small hotel.

Can't wait to see you all again in December! Your wine is chilled and waiting. :)

Just returned to the UK after spending a month in Barbados - although we did not sleep at The South Gap we did spend a lot of time there - the bar area is excellent - service from Rose, Dominic and Jordan - made us feel very welcome and more so than where we're staying - happy hours twice a day - staff and guests are so friendly - bar menu is very good as are their daily specials
View is spectacular - go on give it a go ....

My wife and I have just returned from a 16 day holiday in Barbados. I've found this hotel on the net. What a fine. It is not a so-called top of the range hotel. But what you get is. Amazing cleanliness throughout the site. Well equipped comfortable rooms with air conditioning and fan. An amazing position right on the coast with wonderful see views from all rooms. A great pool and bar area. There are always quality sun beds available. But the most important thing of all was the best customer care I have ever experienced.

This hotel is truly a centre of excellence.

Firstly thank you for a great weeks stay! all the staff are lovely and very welcoming.

Location wise you can't get any better for St Lawrence Gap, straight across the road from Hal's and all the bars, restaurants and clubs. a couple of minutes walk to beaches either way.

Hotel was clean, rooms immaculate and with amazing views. Didn't eat in the restaurant that much but what we did eat was nice :) make sure you take a advantage of the happy hours!

Room Tip: All rooms have sea views.
